About this property

`The Duck House` Modern, rural & close to town

✨ Escape to our modern and affordable studio on beautiful Kangaroo Island. Just 5 minutes from Kingscote & 15 from Emu Bay, it’s the perfect base to relax after exploring. Enjoy a comfy bed, hot shower, Wi-Fi, board games & fresh country air — everything you need to recharge for another day of adventure.
Hotel price (or cheaper) but with all the extra touches!

The Duck House was originally created to accommodate Emily`s family when visiting us from the mainland but also doubles as an affordable, comfortable and homely place for couples and friends to stay whilst visiting Kangaroo Island. We understand not everyone requires a huge holiday house but just a comfortable place to shower and rest and you`ll get better bang for your buck than a hotel room.

The studio is nestled inside one of our sheds and is located next to our home residence but with the rural location and peaceful paddocks surrounding us we believe you will still have a sense of privacy.

We’re conveniently located just a 45-minute drive from the ferry terminal in Penneshaw, only 5 minutes from the island’s main town of Kingscote, and 15 minutes from the beautiful swimming and driving beach at Emu Bay. It is the perfect central base for your Kangaroo Island adventures.

The kitchenette is equipped with everything you need for an easy stay, including: Air fryer, microwave, George Foreman Grill, slow cooker, toaster, kettle and a Nespresso coffee pod machine.

We provide a bar fridge and all the essentials for preparing breakfast, lunch, or simple dinners
Please note: No oven or cooktop.

Fresh, clean drinking water straight from the kitchen tap.

Unwind in the evenings with a selection of board games provided in the TV cabinet.

We also provide a smart TV and Wifi so you can log into your favourite streaming apps for the comfort of the lounge or your bed.

Meet the friendly farm animals:

While we sadly lost our much-loved ducks 🥺, our little hobby farm is still full of life and charm! During your stay, you’re welcome to meet and pat:

Our friendly chickens

A flock of sheep, including Vali the Valais Blacknose sheep

Two cheeky mini goats, Jupiter and Jayden

And Max, our much-loved mini donkey

You may also see our boy Whistler the King Charles Cavalier roaming about (although he should be inside our fences yard)

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like suggestions on activities you can do whilst visiting. I am also happy to show you around our little hobby farm if I am available. Just reach out 😊

Pop 100m across the paddock to Kangaroo Island Brewery (KIB) and try a tasting plate of their famous craft beer or relax outside and take in the rural landscape.

There is no taxi service on the island so having your own car is essential to getting around.

Make sure you book your Ferry with Sealink as soon as making your accomodation reservation as spaces are limited.

Please let me know if you require or would like to use:
* Linen for the sofa bed (extra $20)
* Esky (cooler) for day trips
* Picnic basket with plates, cups, cutlery etc
Please clean and put away your dishes before departing.

Please only flush toilet paper down the toilet as anything else will cause blockages.

Thank you, enjoy your stay 🥰
