Host was very welcoming! Location, neighborhood, space, parking, everything was perfect. The only thing we didn’t like was we had to check out. The host was friendly and there were no issues getting in touch with him. I HIGHLY recommend this property for rental. Thank you for your hospitality
This was a great place to stay for easy walking distance to Jazz Fest and many restaurants and bars in the beautiful neighborhood. The cute apartment had everything you needed for a great comfortable stay. We highly recommend this place to stay for exploring this area of New Orleans.
The location is great to visit the local neighborhood and City Park. Access to the streetcar is easy and allows you to get anywhere but also come back to a quite street at night. The only downsides are the bed/pillows are uncomfortable and the apartment is very short. I'm 6'3" and hit my head several times and couldn't stand up in the bathroom.

Thank you Kevin. I am open and transparent about the ceiling height. The website states:
Please Note ** This is a garden level ground floor apartment that has lower ceilings and doorways. Be forewarned - anyone over six feet tall may find this dwelling uncomfortable.
In other words, if you are Louis Armstrong (5’6”); Miles Davis (5’7”); John Coltrane (5’8”); Dr John (5’9”); Cab Calloway (5’10”); or Trombone Shorty (5’11) you’ll be comfortable. If you are Duke Ellington (6’1”) or Big Freedia (6”2) you may not be.
This home is situated in a very nice community, that is nice to walk in. Beautiful city park half a mile away to walk and see wildlife and eat at an in-park cafe de monde. On other side of home quarter mile away is a canal with Beautiful park on each side to walk. Property close to many New Orleans attractions but in quiet area. Was wonderful stay.
Great quiet neighborhood, unit was well stocked with everything you need. We enjoyed City Park and local restaurants. Tom was accommodating and answered all of our questions. New Orleans is a special place.
We loved staying in this charming spot walking distance to city park (art museum, cafe du monde, putt putt, etc). There was easy access to the street car (we downloaded the Le Pass app which made it simple to pay and navigate around). Thomas thought of everything, including coffee, soap, towels… kitchen was well outfitted for cooking. Thanks for everything!
This is a basement apartment so the ceilings are low...very low! The pictures online make it look bigger than it is but it was adequate. The furniture was sparse and not very comfortable. The bed was okay. The noise from people upstairs tromping around woke me up several times. It was clean and the spaces were well utilized. The neighborhood appears to be safe and is close to many of the attractions of New Orleans.

I am available for any issues/concerns that may arise and for recommendations on sightseeing, restaurants, the latest music or special event local tips. I always strive to continually improve the quality of our guest’s stays as I hope that guests love New Orleans as much as I do.
Why they chose this property
Bayou St. John is one of New Orleans' most charming, laid-back neighborhoods—residential and quiet, yet steps from the scenic bayou and minutes from the action.
Right outside, stroll, jog, or bike along the water, paddle a kayak on the bayou, or cross the picturesque historic Magnolia footbridge.
You're walking distance to City Park—one of the largest urban parks in the country—home to the New Orleans Museum of Art, its free sculpture garden, the Botanical Garden, and ancient live oaks. Just beyond sits the Fair Grounds, home of the legendary New Orleans Jazz Fest each spring.
It's a food lover's dream, too. You're blocks from local institutions: Parkway Bakery & Tavern for the city's famous po-boys, Blue Oak BBQ, Spanish paella at Lola's, and classic French bistro fare at Café Degas.
Set along oak-lined Esplanade Avenue, you're wonderfully connected—walkable, bike-friendly, and a quick streetcar or ride from the French Quarter, Tremé, and the rest of the city.
You're in one of the most walkable, bike-friendly corners of New Orleans, with easy ways to reach the rest of the city:
On foot: The bayou, City Park, and Esplanade Avenue's restaurants are all a short stroll away.
By bike: Flat, scenic, and easy—cruise the bayou path or the Lafitte Greenway straight into the French Quarter.
No bike? Grab a Blue Bikes e-bike right from the app in the neighborhood (about 15–20 minutes to the Quarter).
Streetcar: Catch the historic Canal–City Park/Museum line at the edge of City Park and ride down to the CBD and French Quarter. Tickets on the RTA Le Pass app.
Bus: The Esplanade bus heads right into the French Quarter and connects you citywide.
Rideshare: Uber and Lyft are quick and plentiful—roughly 10 minutes to the Quarter, ideal for a night out.
By car: Enjoy free, unrestricted street parking right out front—perfect for grocery runs and day trips.
What makes this property unique
Your private, garden-level one-bedroom has its own entrance and everything you need to settle right in: - Full kitchen with stove, oven, microwave, toaster oven, toaster and air fryer—cook in whenever you like - Free in-unit washer & dryer, so you can pack light - Fast WiFi, central air conditioning, and a roomy walk-in closet - Free, unrestricted street parking right out front—a rare find in New Orleans - Two smart TVs with local channels included. Streaming apps like Netflix and Hulu are loaded on the TVs—just sign in with your own accounts to watch and remember to log out before checkout.
A cozy note on the space: this is a garden-level (ground-floor) apartment with the lower ceilings and doorways that come with a historic New Orleans home. It's snug in the best way—but in the spirit of honesty, it fits some heights more comfortably than others.
A rough guide: if you stand around the stature of Louis Armstrong (5'6"), Miles Davis (5'7"), John Coltrane (5'8"), Dr. John (5'9"), Cab Calloway (5'10"), you'll feel right at home. If you rise to the heights of Duke Ellington (6'1") or Big Freedia (6'2"), you may find the ceilings a touch close for comfort.
