Bald Eagle Bluff is an upscale 3BR/2.5BA mountain cottage on top of Appalachian Ski Mountain, less than 2 miles from the ski slopes. Downtown Blowing Rock is 3 miles away, and Boone is 4 miles away. Tweetsie Railroad is 4 miles away, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is 2 miles away. The Appalachian State University campus and athletic stadiums in Boone are less than 5 miles. With its riverfront community park and the original Mast General Store, Valle Crucis is about 10 miles away. The town of Banner Elk is less than 20 miles, as are Grandfather Mountain, Sugar Mountain Ski Resort and the Sugar Mountain Public Golf Club, and Hawksnest Snow Tubing & Ziplines.
The main level of Bald Eagle Bluff is open and expansive, with wood floors, vaulted ceilings, and huge windows that allow copious sunlight in and frame picturesque, long-range mountain top views. The entry opens into the great room, which features a floor-to-ceiling stone gas-log fireplace, a huge HD Smart TV, and comfortable furniture which can easily accommodate a full house. Glass doors lead out onto the patio, and an upper run of huge windows, look out at panoramic high-elevation mountain views. A built-in desk provides a convenient place to set up a workstation and check in with the "real world," while the overhead bookshelves are filled with books to enjoy during your stay. There is a half bathroom, central and convenient, on the main level off of the foyer.
Adjacent to the great room is the open dining area, which features a banquet-style dining table with seating for up to eight. Flanked by oversized windows, the dining area looks out at the lovely yard and has amazing views on both sides. The kitchen is beside the dining area, married in the middle by a generous granite bar top peninsula with bar stool seating. There is ample custom cabinet space, in which you will find a well-stocked assortment of flatware, silverware, and glassware, along with plenty of other tools to both prepare and serve gourmet meals to a full table. All new high-end, brushed nickel kitchen appliances, including a glass cooktop, huge fridge and freezer, and a wine cooler, make this kitchen an incredible amenity for the family who loves to cook.
Also on the main level is the primary master suite, which boasts a new designer king bed flanked by bedside tables with lamps. A substantial double window reveals stunning mountain top views. The wall-mounted HDTV and huge lowboy dresser complete the bedroom. The private ensuite master bathroom offers a "his and hers" granite vanity with under-mount sinks. The shower is massive, with custom tile work and built-in seating.
Walk out of the great room to a large open-air patio with outdoor seating and a gas grill. The views stretch out in front of you and to the sides. Enjoy the horizon, the many layers of mountain ranges, and the picturesque view of Appalachian Ski Mountain below.
The lower level of Bald Eagle Bluff offers two more bedrooms, each with an HDTV. Both have windows that frame mountain views. One bedroom has a queen bed, a comfy chair, an ottoman, and a private door into the lower-level bathroom with a tub/shower combo. The other lower-level bedroom features two twin-XL beds and is just down the hall from the lower-level bathroom. There is a laundry room with a washer and dryer downstairs and an inner door that leads into the large two-car attached garage.
The yard itself is quite large, nicely landscaped, and uniquely level, for the most part, which is rare to have at such high elevations. On the lower level is a courtyard with a round, four-seat outdoor dining table and a hot tub. Nearby in the yard is a fun, wood-burning fire pit with stone seating. Level parking at the house and paved roads that receive careful attention during winter weather make this a convenient and stress-free mountain vacation destination.
Central heat and air conditioning, high-speed WiFi internet, 4 HDTVs with digital cable TV programming and ROKU Smart TV options, and a generator for peace of mind round out the amenities at this home.

Thank you so much for sharing! Our greatest reward is hearing from our guest that they had a great time and enjoyed the home. Take care and we hope you will revisit again soon.
We had a great visit at this property! We enjoyed the hot tub, outdoor grill and outdoor fire pit! The view from the back porch which can be seen from all the bedrooms, dining room and living room is really beautiful!! The house was great and less than a 5min drive to Appalachian Mtn where we went skiing.

It was a very good cabin. Cleaned very well and would highly recommend to others to rent and have rented from cabin rentals before and it was very good too. The people that help clean before you get there fo a good job!!!
This property was clean, well equipped, and absolutely stunning. It was hard to leave, and I hope to visit again. I will caution parents with small children that it will keep you on your toes trying to keep your little ones away from the open stairs on the main floor.

Thank you so much for sharing. We are always thrilled to hear from our guest, especially when they have had a great time. Its our hope that we see you again soon!
The property was very clean, spacious, and well laid out. Kitchen is well laid out with plenty of utensils. Plenty of room for my wife and I and 3 kids. It is also conveniently located between Boone and Blowing Rock, about 10 minute drive to each. Cozy, mountain cabin, good for a mountain getaway.
This home is a beautiful and quiet location, within perfect distance to Boone and Blowing Rock. We loved using the hot tub daily to relax from the day. Sunset on the deck was phenomenal!
First - the views from this quite property are beautiful! We enjoyed our stay and had high hopes for the hot tub but it was too cold for our old souls lol. We made good use of the kitchen and were not lacking any supplies. Everything about the home was clean, working order and comfortable. The only two pitfalls we had 1) the doorknob on the deck door kept coming off - not sure what was going on there and 2) four college educated women couldn't figure out how to get the toaster oven to truly turn off - so we unplugged it. The location was close to Blowing Rock where we ventured for some shopping/dinner. I will say that it is no joke on the side of a mountain so depending on weather you really do need 4 wheel drive. We were lucky and there were only flurries so driving wasn't too big of an issue but a few of us were nervous to drive the mountain after dark. All in all a lovely stay. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!
Beautiful home on the top of the mountain with a view to die for. Cute quiet neighborhood. Everything was very clean and in great condition. Kitchen appliances are top of the line. Kitchen was stock for at home cooking. Very convenient to Tweetsie Railroad. Great say and would love to make it back!
My family stayed at Bald Eagle Bluff for a week in July, which was a wonderful experience! The home was lovely, the pictures did not do this well-appointed, spacious home justice. The back deck was wonderful-we spent hours relaxing and reading on it while listening to the sound of the Tweetsie Railroad whistle.
This home is just perfect- the mountainside locale gives it a very "away from it all" feel, but you are truly 7 or 8 minutes from downtown Boone-it's serenely convenient!
We loved the fire pit!! We will be back.
Thank you! :)
We enjoyed our time at this home. All of our expectations were met and more. We will definitely keep the Bald Eagle Bluff as one of our go to choices when returning to the Blowing Rock area. Thank you for opening your home to us.
Having rented this property 2018/2019 for 6 months during ski season, we were very familiar and comfortable in selection. Plus side-new appliances and furniture pieces. Down side-cleaning issues: lamps, blinds, kitchen counters (dried food), oven, glass doors, handprints on walls and sauté pans were horrible- need replacing; If you plan on cooking, bring ur own!!!
This house was fantastic. It was one of the better vrbo houses my husband and I have stayed in. The pictures were true to the house and the view from the deck was gorgeous. We also enjoyed the location, being 5 mins away from App Mountain skiing, 10 from downtown Blowing Rock, and 35 mins away from Sugar Mountain.
The only flaws we ran into was the discovery of a paused dishwasher cycle (had to hit start on dishwasher, then put dishes away), a few dishes from the cabinets that needed to be cleaned again, and a missing coffee pot which the property manager did a fabulous job of communicating with me about and replacing.
Overall, I would not be surprised if we revisited this house and area again on another trip. Thank you!
Nice and new home in a wonderful community. Great access to Boone. You come down the mountain and land directly in Boone. It’s in a lovely residential community with nice Mountain View’s. We had a very nice stay, thanks for having us!
