About this property
Beautiful Downeast Maine Oceanfront Cabin near Acadia National Park
Celebrating our 18th year offering this special property for your Downeast Maine vacation! Seaside cabin on the Schoodic Peninsula located within 60 feet of the ocean. Completely updated throughout. Hear the waves lap along the granite shore, feel the ocean breeze, see the Sally Islands off in the distance, as well as the bold open ocean. At night you can see the flashing light of Petit Manan Lighthouse, Maine's second tallest light, built before the Civil War on a rock ledge two miles out to to sea.
The ocean view faces east across the water so the sunrises and moon rises are spectacular. See shore birds, marine life, and hear the loons call. Lobster boats work the area so you can watch them work from the front deck or along the shore.
The property is nicely wooded and you will have a private setting. Neighboring homes are shielded from view by a beautiful arbor of spruce, balsam, pine, etc. The shoreline is a combination of granite boulders and ledge rock. The water is deep, keeping a beautiful water view which is not affected by the twice daily Maine tide.
The cabin is a classic example of Maine craftsmanship. The interior is pine tongue and groove on the walls and the ceilings on both levels. The first floor living area has a pine plank floor. The second level structure has exposed wood beams and floor planking. The cabin has Wifi internet.
Level One includes a dining area and living area with a local granite wood-burning fireplace. There is a comfortable sofa and chair/ottoman. Also on this level is a full bath and a generous sized newly updated Kitchen with stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops, and all the dishes and utensils you need. Level Two has a front master bedroom with new queen size bed and a balcony that looks out over the ocean and out to the distant flashing lighthouse. The back bedroom has a pine bunk bed with a full size mattress on bottom and a single on top. There is also another single daybed in an adjacent sitting room. A new half bath separates the front and back bedrooms. All these rooms have pine plank ceilings and pine plank walls, new carpeting, and tile.
Walk or bike a couple miles to Corea Harbor, one of Maine's most picturesque working harbors. There you will find the Lobster Co-op where you can buy fresh lobsters directly from the fishermen. Corea Harbor also has a lobster roll cafe and grille located right on an authentic lobster wharf on the harbor, with great harbor views.
Down the road are the pretty communities of Prospect Harbor and Winter Harbor with many services, restaurants, and shopping. Winter Harbor is the gateway to the Beautiful Acadia National Park - Schoodic Peninsula Section, where you can enjoy strolling the spectacular craggy coast, hike Schoodic's hills, or bike beautiful trails. You can also take the mail boat across Frenchman's Bay from Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor, or take the easy drive from Schoodic Peninsula to Mount Desert Island.
The quintessential Schoodic Area is one peninsula 'Downeast' from the more crowded Bar Harbor area and Mount Desert Island.
