If you decide to stay home, there is still plenty of adventure to be found right in your yard. Look for the elk that like to rest amongst the rose brambles on the south side of the yard! Or explore the romantic old double swing or various little sitting areas around the property. Or just sit on the deck and keep an eye out for passing raccoons, javelina, deer, elk, fox, turkey, weasels, all kinds of birds...and even an occasional visit from a mountain lion or bear!
The master features the most romantic skylight for all-night star gazing! An antique window set high in the wall casts a warm glow when the living room fire is going! Skylights offer plenty of light and a glimpse of the ponderosa pines right outside. You can even watch out the kitchen window while prepping dinner for the resident raccoon or elk wandering through the back yard!
In the sunroom: Kick back and read one of the many antique books that describe the local flora and fauna! This room is all double paned windows and insulted; the evap cooler reaches into there and there is an AC in there that you can utilize should you desire. New and vintage/antique games in the cabinet!
The town of Payson, located about 15 miles to the west, offers loads of wonderful restaurants, antique shops and grocery stores. Be sure to grab your groceries on the way up!

We're so glad you enjoyed the cabin!
I do wonder why you only gave us 4 stars, as this property regularly receives 5 star ratings. It has just been remodeled and underwent a deep clean, so I'm at a loss as to the lower rating. :(
I wish you would have contacted us to make it right for you!
Five day family get-a-way to cooler temps, hiking, and fishing. Cabin was as advertised, very clean, kitchen well stocked with nice appliances, wonderful front deck, and nice living areas.
Had such a wonderful time at this clean and cozy cabin. Close access to creek. Management was very kind and great with communication. Highly recommend staying here.
We absolutely loved our getaway at this charming home near Payson. It was perfect for our family and dog. We loved the hiking trails, creek and restaurant that were all within walking distance, and also enjoyed the hot tub, the quiet neighborhood and the property itself. We look forward to visiting again.
This was our second straight Labor Day weekend spent at Applecross Chalet and we enjoyed this visit even more than the last one. The owner has made some nice upgrades to the kitchen, living room, and downstairs bedroom areas, so what was a lovely house is now absolutely fantastic. The property is well maintained—the deck and hot tub are great—and it is closely situated to some nice creek side trails and horseback riding, as well as a couple restaurants that we really enjoyed. The owner was a pleasure to work with and the checkout routine was very simple. We had a wonderful stay!
The property was located in a very nice and friendly neighborhood. Very clean and had all the necessities needed for a comfortable stay. Property manager very responsive and friendly as well. Loved the layout of having two living areas, unique outside spots and creek access. Would definitely stay again!
My fiancé and I had an absolute wonderful time at this cozy cabin! The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. We were able to cook indoors and out on the grill every night. I will definitely be recommending this amazing cabin to all my friends and family that want to visit Payson. Thank you for the relaxing vacation!!
My dog was in paradise during this entire stay. The whole family enjoyed it thoroughly. Only con was the outside furniture was covered in dust/pollen but they provided blankets to cover. It was lovely.

Thank you Jennifer! I'm so glad you and your pupper enjoyed Applecross! I apologize for that yellow pollen! We call it Mother Nature's sugar coating, ha-ha! Thankfully, we're just about over "sugaring season"! We hope you come on back and experience all of the different seasons!
Applecross Cottage was a great place for our family to relax and unwind. There was plenty of room inside for the four of us to watch TV, eat meals and hang out during summer rains. On sunny days, the deck was a great spot to read and listen to the creek, and our dogs loved exploring the beautiful yard.

Thank you Peggy! We are so pleased you and your fam and doggos enjoyed Applecross Cottage! We can't wait to welcome you back soon~ you were the perfect guests! :)
Home was amazing! Host was beyond friendly and accommodating. We loved all the extra touches. Kids enjoyed the fishing poles and the s’mores ingredients. Beds were comfy and the neighborhood was lovely. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay or experience. Thank you for a great stay!
The cottage was clean, cozy and cool. Loved the front deck for the cool breeze, reading, relaxing, and eating. Only complaint would be too many trinkets on counters and cabinets taking up usable guest space.

I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay at Applecross Cottage! I do apologize if there was a lack of counter space; I purposely put all of my Grandmother's Swedish décor up high, where it wouldn't be in the way. The only things on the countertop are the coffees/coffee maker, knife block, sugar and flour tins, and the spice box; things I find useful when prepping a meal. I will certainly relocate the tins to free up more space! :) Thank you for that feedback.
Fantastic home in the woods with everything you need to relax and decompress. Home is well equipped with everything you need. Neighborhood is quiet and makes sitting on the balcony, or in the yard, and great escape.
This was the perfect getaway from the valley for the weekend. Home was stocked with everything you may need, a jacuzzi to warm up in, the owner was very quick to respond and the area was beautiful. This is the perfect getaway for couples as there are separate spaces, but if you all want to be together there’s plenty of space to play games, enjoy a meal or watching the stars. The creek is adjacent to the houses on the other side of the road but not accessible unless you go to the main road by the lodge.
We will definitely be booking this beautiful space again soon!

Thank you Veronica! We appreciate your review! Just a small correction; we DO have access to the creek, right across the lane. There's actually 2 now! It's probably a tad blocked by winter branches that have fallen; we'll clear those out! Come back soon :)
Thank you for staying at Applecross! We hope to see you again to enjoy the changes we are making to the property. We value the feedback from our renters and are in the works to implement these upgrades as soon as possible!
Happy Trails!
Very cute property and Host was very available to answer questions and let us know about storms in the area. The lower bedroom worked perfectly for the other couple with us - although the lower bedroom could use a few more upgrades to match the main part of the house.

Thank you Anne, for staying at Applecross Cottage! And thank you for the feedback! We are excited to be working on upgrades for the downstairs bedroom, now that we've made it available to our guests! Space down there is at a premium, so we will be adding a sleeping nook to it, to free up floor space and make room for more amenities! We hope you return to enjoy those! Happy Trails! :)
