The perfect place to stay while visiting beautiful Mount Dora. Just a short walk or bike ride to historic downtown Mount Dora. Enjoy all the nearby shops, cafes and galleries. Located in an established neighborhood amongst other renovated historical cottages. Walk to the library, parks and to Lake Dora at sunset. Built in 1932, this inviting 2 bedroom 1 bath home has been recently renovated. The kitchen is fully equipped with a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and stove.

Perfect house for a girl's weekend! Very well appointed and comfortable with plenty of seating throughout. The kitchen was clean and had everything we needed for cooking in house. Great location in a quiet neighborhood only a short distance from downtown Mt Dora. Need to make a trip to this house an annual event!

This place was awesome! Very clean, well maintained and the location was fantastic. Walking into town was easy and the neighbors were friendly, even to us out of towners. Our two little dogs loved it and clean up in the yard was easy. It was great having a little fenced in back yard to let them out in. We checked the fence to make sure they couldn't get it, and no problem, even for our little dogs- no escapes! Lets put it this way, We loved it! Definitely recommend this place!

LOVED our stay at the Mermaid House!!

This house is absolutely adorable! We loved our time there and would absolutely book again. The owner was incredibly responsive with all questions and even mailed back a dress that was accidents left. Could not recommend this property more!

Wonderful getaway for our whole family

We had an amazing time. Check in process was a breeze, host was great and was available for communication if at all necessary. House was clean, beds we’re comfortable and everything was provided. The house was walking distance to downtown but far enough away that the sounds of festivals or parades weren’t bothersome. 10/10 recommend and we hope to stay again!

Great place to stay in Mount Dora

We loved the Mermaid bungalow. Just as pictured. Location perfect for Mount Dora activities. Our doggies loved the backyard as we did. Nice place to sit out and enjoy the fresh air. We did have a few issues, but the host and staff were very responsive.

Left a little too be desired, but cute...

The look of the outside of the cottage was cute although a little overgrown. Once you enter the property, those of us with vertigo have footing issues. The floors were warped and went in waves. The cottage is nicely decorated, and there was seating. The king size bed, although comfortable, did not provide an egress for the person on that side of the bed. The door to the bathroom did not close properly or lock which also made for an interesting week. The dining room chairs need love. Also, the micro fridge although cute was just too small for a house of 4 for a week. Also, the back yard has not been maintained and did not provide a welcoming hang out space. Then mid week, realized that the other building on the property is also a guest house so had another couple staying and walking by our windows and vehicle. Was unexpected and a little concerning until we spoke to them. All in all, a bit disappointed in the property, but we were still able to enjoy our time.

Whimsical spot to stay at!

I would describe the 'Mermaid House', in today's standards as more like a cottage/bungalow. We were three staying during a 3-day weekend trip. I am not sure if it would be feasible for more than 2 people to stay longer than that. The place was very clean and well supplied with more than the average inventory of items, both in the bathroom and kitchen. Across, it was decorated in good taste, and not crowded at all; with plenty of space available within the common areas. The bedrooms had comfortable beds to sleep on, but the only main inconvenience was that for two people sleeping in one bed, the beds were both situated against a wall. Also, there were no dressers of any size to store your clothes in. The bathroom is nicely tiled and the shower was spacious enough to comfortably move around in. We were amazed that there were more than one place available to hang your large towels on to dry... thank you for that! The kitchen was 'retro' like decorated with all the necessities on hand. We were a bit disappointed with the outside back area; not quite the same image as the pictures online; it needs some immediate TLC. Several plants around need to be replaced and the fire pit was filled with debris. We could not have asked for a better location; just walking distance to the main sites of historical Mt. Dora.

over all we give it 3 stars. It was about a half mile from town. Nice to have it pet friendly. A/C worked great. Kitchen was adequate too. Nice TV. We had a hard time sleeping, the beds need a foam topper of some kind. They are hard! Bath room had a sad little shower head, minimal bath towels and wash clothes. Hardly any soap! The foam containers had watered down soap, basically no soap. One sample size tiny bar in the shower, and i mean tiny. We had to go out and buy soap. Scant little shampoo, only one! So bring your own. Sorry to not be more positive- for the price i dont think we would repeat this stay. The back patio was too dirty to use.

Girls week

Sweet little place with everything necessary that you could possibly need and super clean. We loved the little special touches thoughout. It is located nicely with walking distance to town and about a 15 minute walk. We walked back and forth a couple times a day, nice walk. We sat out on the front porch every morning and it was quiet, all you heard were the birds chirping. There is a nice area out back for lounging and in addition a firepit. Super quiet at night also. Mt. Dora is a special town with many boutiques, galleries, shops & restaurants. We also took the boat ride down the canal with Rusty Anchor, its always a must see for me in Mt. Dora and love sharing it with others. Tavares is only about 10 minutes away with a wonderful roof top lounge, bi-planes flying over the water and several waterfront restaurants. Its a great area for exploring. I am familiar with the area but my friend from North Carolina had never been and absolutely loved it! Favorite restaurants while there were Pisces Rising (great mojitos for 5 during happy hour!), Goblin Market and The Yardery. I would highly recommend The Mermaid Cottage, it won't dissapoint!

I loved the little arch in front of the cottage, so sweet!

We are both graduates from the University of Central Florida and have three great kids. We work hard and play hard and this cabin/bungalow are the most relaxing places we know. We get to visit several times a year and enjoy snowboarding, fishing and just relaxing.
Steve Perez purchased this Cabin in 2004 and the Mt Dora Cozy Bungalow in 2020 along with The Conch house, Mermaid Cottage, Tiki Hut and Pink House.
