Host is very welcoming, nice, and makes contacting her very accessible. Loved the farm house with lots of animals visible and cool to see. Water pressure is a bit rough so just something to be aware of for little ones. Comfy beds, tv with streaming platforms, with enough blankets and pillows supplied for our big family.

Thank you Haley! Also, thanks for letting me know about the water pressure. It has been adjusted down.
The place was nice, clean, and comfortable. We were out and about a lot, but the time we did relax was really enjoyable and the view is amazing. The drive up the hill to get to the property was an experience, but overall we'll definitely stay here again when we return to visit.
AMAZING! Husband and I went for our 5 yr wedding anniversary this weekend and we are so happy! Not only was it beautiufl there, but we got to interact with some of the animals. My favorite was the pink pig!We brought our pug who also just had a field day (although cow noises are scary lol)I'm especially grateful to the hostess for going above and beyond- we appreciate you so much!Thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful home abs we will definitely be back!
Our stay was awesome, the house was great and Heather was so helpful and responsive. I will definitely be back.

1) Not able to gain access to the property as communicated. We waited outside a locked gate for 30 minutes beyond the check in time. 2) Says sleeps 8. The bunk bed top bunk mattress is flush with the rail. One could roll off very easily. Could not be used. Plus, this bunkbed is not made for adults. Very shaky. 3) The pull out sofa had large stains that appeared to be blood. 4) As it was stormy, water began leaking from 4 windows in the living room. We had to us every spare towel, pots from the kitchen, then resorted to extra bedding to keep the water from ruining the floors. We didn’t have to, yet respected the property. 5) We lost power which is an act of god and no one’s fault, although there wasn’t a flashlight or any way to light candles. The property owner called her son to bring us some candles, a lighter, and extra towels for shower purposes, although they were pretty gross and freyed. 6) BBQ did not work.7) Heater in the living room, while we finally got it going, had poor instructions on how to operate. Once we got it to work we immediately turned off as it gave off a bad chemical smell. 8) Lights in the second bathroom flicker and go off an on. 9) As I was in contact with the seller, I had hoped for a follow up directly with her to share feedback, or even a thank you for spending so much time warding off water from home damage, but nope. There you go!

Karen, I sincerely apologize for your less than stellar experience. We strive to always provide nothing less than a 5 star experience. I am truly sorry we failed to do so during your stay.
I would like to respond to each of your complaints as well. I went back and reviewed the gate camera. I see you were not able to gain access for 10 min, not 30. As soon as you called, we opened the gate for you. I apologize the gate code was not in the check in instructions. The bunk beds were listed as "adult bunk beds" upon purchase. That is why we chose them. You are correct, the mattress does sit flush with the rail, as I did not want to sacrifice comfort, and go with a less plush mattress. There is a bed rail in the master closet for that reason. I am confident you saw that, as you did pull all of the linens from every linen bag in that closet. I did see stains on the pull out sofa mattress after the cover was removed. Apparently, someone had spilled something (looks like coffee, definitely not blood, as I tested w/ peroxide), and re-covered the mattress w/ the clean pad, so yes, we did miss that stain. As for the windows leaking, we had what was the worst storm of the year w/ heavy winds and rains. Several trees down in the area. Power outages, etc. As soon as we were able to check the windows we noticed a trim piece had blow off, exposing a larger problem, allowing for water to leak inside the home. We do appreciate you doing all you could to spare our floors. Instead of thanking you, I just kept apologizing for the situation, that I felt completely helpless in, given the fact we couldn't address until the rain stopped. I do thank you for all you did to help. Although, the weather was horrendous, I did have my 16 yr old son drive home from his friend's home immediately to provide you with candles, a lighter, and extras towels to contain the water. He brought towels to put on the floor, as that is what you had requested. I apologize, I misunderstood that you wanted towels to shower, and not want old towels to contain water. I was not home, but was monitoring the situation closely, and saw power was restored after a couple hours. As I explained, I did have brand new flashlights there. Unfortunately, they disappeared during a previous stay, and I didn't catch it, as a power outage is pretty rare. We checked the BBQ. It is working fine, and has a full propane tank. Maybe it wasn't working due to the high winds blowing out the flames? I apologize that you were not able to turn on the fireplace immediately. You had said you had the same one in your cabin, so I assumed you knew you had to turn the switch on. I should have started w/ step one (on switch) when trying to trouble shoot it with you. As for the smell, it will initially smell after not being used for sometime, like a heater does after firing up the first time of the season. Same concept.
Again, I of truly apologize for experience. It is not acceptable. We have addressed every concern and improved for all future stays. In fact, given the window situation, we will be doing some upgrades in the very new future. For now the windows are sealed and will not leak.
Heather is the best! The farmhouse is so lovely! It is neat, clean, updated, and super welcoming! The beds are very comfortable and the animals are sweet and friendly! We loved the country atmosphere and the views are to die for! Thank you, Heather, for making our stay in Auburn extra special!!!
Location was great. Outside of place was dirty, dog poop in parking area, filthy front glass doors, windows and tracks dirty with broken blinds, living room furniture old and uncomfortable, tables beat-up, small bedroom bunkbeds squeaky and ladder is terrible on feet, kitchen and main bed and bath were great, nicely decorated and comfortable. This place could look as advertised with little work and expense.

Hi Judi, I’m very sorry you were disappointed with your stay. I would like to address some of your concerns. Unfortunately, when you book a stay at a farm, there will always be dirt. That’s part of being in the country. That being said, we always hose down the porch before an arrival, so it’s not dusty for our guests. The afternoon of your arrival, we also happened to have 30 mph winds. I apologize if the porch was dusty again. As for the “dog poop”, there was not any poop in the parking area prior to your arrival. I personally checked myself. At one point you did have 4 cars parked at the property, which were in my backyard, so if that constitutes the “parking area” and there was dog poop, I apparently need to remind you that, we ask to have 2 vehicles, with a potential for more upon request, so we can show you how to park, when you arrive. I apologize if the cleaners missed the front doors for your stay. Sometimes there’s a lot to get done in the short amount of turnover time, and they prioritize cleaning the inside of the home for you. We have addressed that with the cleaners though, so they should be clean for all future stays. As for the broken blinds, there are 1-2 approximately 4” pieces on 3 sets that have been recently broken, and will be replaced soon. If I would have known they would earn us a poor review from you, I would have canceled your stay, as to not offend you, until they were replaced. Living room furniture is 3 years old. I have had lots of compliments about the sofa bed, and have never heard either couch was uncomfortable, but I apologize if it was not to your standard. The coffee tables have been warped in small areas from people not using the provided coasters. I would, however, not constitute this as “beat up”. The bunkbeds are bunk beds, so they are typically made for kids and not full grown adults. Although, I have been told the mattresses are very comfortable by lots of adults who have slept in them, and asked what brand they are. We check them regularly to ensure they are sturdy for our guests. I apologize if they were too squeaky. I will take that into consideration, when we do replace them. I would be more than happy to replace all the furniture every couple of years, but that would entail raising prices, and as I noticed you booked for our lowest nightly rate. Again, I apologize that we did not meet your standards. I ask in the future you avoid booking farm stays, because clearly the dirty outside is not for you. We want to provide nothing, but the best for our guests, and take all feedback into consideration. Thank you for your feedback.
We chose this location due to our IL family having to come to Cali for grandmas funeral/celebration of life. There were 2 moms and between us there were 5 kids aging from 23-16. We loved this property! It saved us alot of money on food because we could cook for ourselves and the kitchen was clean and spacious and we all were able to eat at the table together. The kids loved the animals! We live in il so we are not what you would conside city people but some of the kids havent been that close to cows or pigs. They also loved the horses and chickens as well. It was a quite area. We would chose this location again if we ever came back to the area.

Left us without water, then accused of extortion for asking for discount
*Assuming your water isn’t shut off: Cool, well stocked house. Beds cozy enough. Host was very accommodating initially with special requests (significantly early check in to drop off vehicles/luggage) that made our lives easier. Property is beautiful and it’s fun to have the farm animals around, though it is pretty out of the way depending on how close you need to be to civilization. However, this review is 1 star due to how I was treated for an early checkout.Long story short, we ended up leaving in the afternoon of the 2nd day (out of 2) booked because the water kept shutting off and we couldn’t shower/flush toilets, prep food, or wash clothes/dishes. People bought earlier flights. The host had mentioned they have water issues at times, due to overuse, because the property draws from a well. So I figured “dang I guess that’s just how it is here.”I let the host know we’d left early, that the water had been sporadic, and that we appreciated their flexibility. She then admitted that she’d accidentally drained the well, leaving us without water. Basically “whoops. Sucks that happened.”Due to the fact that we would’ve stayed had she not drained the well, I asked for a discount. What followed was a cross examination, accusations of extortion, and belittling comments about how I don’t know how wells work. I wouldn’t have asked if not for the fact that they drained the well accidentally.Photos of chat below. Maybe I’m in the wrong, but you can decide for yourself.

I again apologize if you experienced issues with the water. I also apologize if my messages came off as “belittling”. That was not at all my intention. When you messaged stating “depending on if the host remembered to fill the well or not” I simply responded letting you know that “we do not fill the well. It is a constant water source, but that if the tank empties it will turn off to protect the pump. There is a very simple fix of not using any water for 10-15 minutes to allow the pump to reset and the tank to refill”. I also informed you that we would have resolved the issue immediately had you let us know. Unfortunately, despite the fact you contacted me 2x on Friday prior to arrival, as well as the other 4x prior to that, your parents called and text me 5x between the two of them on Friday, and then again at 7:10am on Sat to notify me they had arrived at the property (at 6:59am), for a very early check in. I adamantly state to please notify us if anything arises that would prevent a 5 start review and include both mine and my husband’s phone #’s, so we can be reached in the event of an issue, any time day or night. Sadly, you did not give us the opportunity to address any issues until after you left early on Sunday, then you proceeded to tell me if I didn’t give you a refund you would “reflect that in our review, which otherwise would have been stellar”. I also didn’t find any issues went I went to inspect, nor did we experience loss of water and we are on the same well.
I am an ER RN, who has made traveling a top priority to rest and recover from everyday life. Our family has used VRBO for years. We always prefer renting our own private space vs a hotel room. We moved to the country a few years ago and realized how relaxing, private, and peaceful country life can be. We decided to share this with other travelers, as our place is truly a little piece of heaven on the hill.
Why they chose this property
Our property provides a tucked away quiet retreat, yet still close enough to run into town. Our place has been said to have “the best views in Auburn”. You can see the Sacramento Valley skyline, which lights up beautifully at night. Every sunset provides for a photographers dream! Sit on the patio, enjoy your morning coffee, while watching the sunrise, or enjoy a glass of local wine while watching our amazing sunsets. We have a small family farm with lots of friendly animals that will at times provide entertainment while they play out in the pasture. We are surrounded by several quaint breweries. About a 15 minute scenic drive will land you in downtown or old town Auburn, which is really fun to explore. We are 2.5 miles from hidden falls, just make sure you make a reservation to hike on the weekends, and not far from some of the best hiking trails in California. Also, if you’re feeling really adventurous check out the areas white water rafting. If you’re looking for a getaway in the country are place is for you!
What makes this property unique
We currently have 6 cows and 2 calfs. They can at times provide lots of entertainment while they play in the evening. Make sure to meet Charlotte and Wren, our 2 potbelly pigs, that roam the property. They will be your best friends if you share snacks. Star out mini donkey also loves pets and fruits and veggies.
