The online room pictures are not accurate. The room / building has a damp musty smell. The room should have been cleaned better and the entire place needs better up keep.

Easy access to beach. Daily cleaning of pool is needed. Property is very dated. Needs updates interior and exterior. Inside smells like cigarettes. I would not recommend.

Outdated and very dirty!

We wanted to relax at the pool and it was not open the entire time we were there. I understand things break, but no one would answer the phone or should have let us know so we could find another place. We still want money back on our trip! The pictures in VRBO looked nothing like the room. We have used VRBO several times over the years. This is the worst experience we have ever had!

Damp room on arrival

When we arrived at 7 p.m. noticed the floor was damp like it was just mopped. We did not touch the A/C unit because the room temperature felt fine. We put our luggage in the room and went to beach. At 9:30 p.m. we went back to the room to settle in and go to bed. When we got back into room is was twice as wet and water dripping from the ceiling. I called and the person told me to turn A/C on below 70 degrees and keep all doors shut. They also sent a maintenance person thay helped us towel dry the entire room, got us new pillow cases, and towels. The room dried out finally after a few hours. We had no idea about the A/C to bet set below 70 or the dampness comes. It was already set to 73 when I arrived and was comfortable. Signs, text message, or email about the 70 degree limit and keep doors closed should be posted to inform guests.

Upon arrival, room had no linens on beds. Room did not match listing photos on VRBO site. No parking pass was left in the room as given on instructions for self check in. Went to general store and received pass. Explained the no linen situation to attendant in store, he stated no one would be in untol 10 am next day. With no other option, we proceeded to a local Walmart to purchase our own bedding, an expense that shouldnt have been one. The only saving grace at this location was the stunning views from our balcony. I will end with customer service matters, knowing rooms are ready for your guests matter, advertising truthful accommodations matters. We are disheartened with our experience as a whole.

It was generally fine

there were a few roaches spotted. the pool listed online was not of the same condition in person. the restroom water pressure was very low. the restroom light switch was malfunctioning. we still enjoyed the stay, very convenient check in. nice oceanside view. convenient location, we would reserve Blue Palmetto again in the future

Moldy, Damp, Dirty

If you're a young 20 something going there to just party. This is your senior week unit all over again. Bathroom was clean. Floors appeared mopped. Sheets looked clean. Balcony view is the high lite. Pool was filthy never saw any one clean the piles of sand. Location is great but you have to park accross the street. Communication was the same email from rental office 11 times. Really 11 emails same info. Room and building codes emailed to you at 4pm day of check in. General store and the owner are awesome. All you need for quick needs are there. I regretted our booking this unit the minute we walked in the first floor hallway. Elevator was broken one entire day. Good luck if your on the 6th floor walking all those steps. Indoor pool is closed basically a hole inside a room maybe under construction but never saw anyone working there. Trash all over the side of building piled up. Not sure what day is trash day? But when we left it was piles of trash everywhere. AC worked good but room was damp and floors where slick from constant moisture. Beds are horrible uncomfortable. Long and short if going to party with no family go for it. If traveling with kids or elderly be warned. This place is nasty. Very unhappy I spent the money and booked this unit. Worst VRBO experience ever.

Would never go here again

Please stay away from this place. We drove 22 hours to get here. The building is disgusting and surrounded by Garbage. The halls smell like smoke, urine and are incredibly dirty. Our room had mold across the ceiling, a dirty leaking sink, a dirty leaking shower, and a light that wouldn’t stay on in the bathroom. The floors in the room were slimy and the whole room smelled from mold. We did not stay here. We reached out to the host who responded 4 hours later. Being 22 hours from home we had no choice but to go rent a hotel after no response. We requested a refund and it was refused. I urge you if you read this to not book anything from Blue Palmetto Bay Villas.

Fake Advertisement, Misrepresentation, Fraud !!!

The pictures posted are a fake, misrepresentaion! Pictures from different units were used to advertise the unit we stayed in. Upon entering the unit, where a non-smoking sign was listed on the door, the unit wreaked of from cigarettes and mold. All faucets leaked! The light over the mirror above the vanity did not work and the light switches were loose. The fan in the shower area blew inside instead of removing steam from the shower. A number of the electrical outlets were loose, electrical code violation, and some would not hold a plug. The microwave above the stove was very poorly attached and I was afraid the unit would come off of the wall when I opened the microwave door. The 2 small cabinets above the microwave did not have any doors as falsely shown in the advertisement. The kitchen sink backed up, with minimal water, due to bad plumbing. Also the vanity sink plumbing was reversed. The silverware and dishes were filthy and needed to be washed before use. The towel holder in the shower fell off of the wall! Underneath a very loud air conditioning unit (you will need earplugs to sleep)was a hole in the wall. One of the bed covers had blood stains on it! We used our own sheets and bed cover. The curtains smelled of mold and cigarettes. Beware, our unit did not look anything like the pictures posted in the VRBO advertisement. PLEASE read all negative reviews! The 5-star reviews are not in any way representative of this unit...maybe other units, but NOT our unit!

Everything was good, however the mattresses wrapped in plastic was very difficult to sleep on. It was noisy and hot. You should invest in good mattress covers and get rid of the plastic. The view was great from the balcony. We really enjoyed being able to bring our dog.

It’s okay if you’re never at your hotel — I came here mainly to bring my dog to see the beach, and I was glad it was pet-friendly. The location is great with an easy walk to the beach, not a ton of traffic, and it was peaceful since we visited the weekend after Labor Day when most tourists were gone. That said, the property was not cleaned well at all, which was disappointing. The drains didn’t work properly, there was a sock and some pennies under the bed when we arrived along with hair balls, the bathroom door was falling apart and long black hairs stuck under it would drag across the floor when it was closed (everyone staying with us was blonde, so these weren’t ours), the floors were sandy, and the sheets had a blood spot on them so I couldn’t use them. The supplied toilet paper roll was extremely thin, and while it was disclosed that only one roll would be provided, it ran out quickly (thankfully I brought my own). The pool hose used to rinse off sand was rusted and broken when we got there, so we had to wait an hour outside covered in sand until maintenance was able to fix it. If you plan on cooking heavily, I wouldn’t recommend relying on the kitchen here, and even though the property is labeled non-smoking it smelled like cigarette smoke mixed with air freshener, with a noticeable odor of weed as well. Overall, the convenience and location were the best parts, but between the cleaning issues and maintenance delays, the stay did not meet expectations.

The view and easy access to the beach were amazing. The room and balcony were very clean, and the kitchen was a great feature. Two of the neighboring properties are abandoned which was somewhat concerning. But the other guests in the building were all very nice and I felt safe the whole time. We only had one issue with the keypad to enter the room. But the maintenance man was very nice and helpful.

This was the perfect vacation get-away! I was pleasantly surprised with the property!! It was neat, clean and had everything we needed, including dishes, cookware and a coffee pot! The property is obviously an older property, but it was very tidy, comfortable and also quiet. We stayed for 6 days, with pets, and had zero complaints. The only minor thing was that the beds (mattresses) were a bit uncomfortable. However, that wasn't enough of an issue for me to lower my rating. The view is amazing and with a nicely sized balcony, complete with chairs and a table that are perfect for watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee. Beach access is right out front, 30 seconds away!We are very happy that we found this little spot and will definitely be returning here soon!!

Location was beautiful. Views were perfect. There were a few things I think may help others prior to booking or staying:1. There are only 2 extremely flat pillows per bed. They are so flat that together they equal about 1/2 of a normal pillow. No big deal, but bring your own pillow.2. The place has a very musty/stinky smell. At first we didn't know what it was, but we then realized it was related to the air conditioner. Every time we turned the AC on the room filled with the smell of garbage. Hoping the host will have this fixed for the next guests.3. If you have a dog they collect the pet fee outisde of VRBO. I was sketched out by this and reached out to VRBO about it, and it is completely on the up and up. VRBO considers them a trusted partner and it is allowed. That said, the company was a bit rude when I asked about it. They acted like I was trying to get out of paying, which I was not. I think their communication could be better.Overall- it was a good place to stay for cheap. Views were gorgeous and our dog was able to stay. The negatives were outweighed by the positives.

Needed updating

Very outdated unit, throwback to 1960. There was also a constant smell of marijuana in the hallways and on the deck. Unit is in a very good location.

Every thing was CLEAN, which I really appreciate. The Ocean is “RIGHT THERE”, so super easy to get to the beach which is WHY I go to MB. Bathroom was recently “retrofitted” with a nice clean new tub. Towels and linens are new and fresh. Could stand to have a few more kitchen items (spatulas, tongs, more bowls and dishes, pots and skillets,). The cabinets should probably be updated/replaced as they are a bit musty, but I get it, it’s on the ocean and there is always sea air to deal with. Patio was nice to sit outside on. The building itself (no ding on this condo) is a bit dated and the entrance door seems like entry through a back door, dirty hallways and it just seems like it needs a bit of a refresh. Overall, for the price I paid it is a good value.
