About the host

Hosted by Joy Rodgers-Mernin

Host profile image
Joy Rodgers-Mernin and her husband Keith Mernin own the Cottage at Plum Bottom Farm. Together, they raised their two children on the property and currently live in the private primary residence. The property has been in Joy's family since 1755. Joy and Keith are also the owners of The Nittany Quill, the only stationery shop in downtown State College, steps from Penn State University's main campus. The shop has been in business more than 35 years and they are a Penn State licensee.

Why they chose this property

The property was "warranted in 1755 to James Alexander. There has been a descendent
of James Alexander living on the property ever since. The current owner's father began started farming the land in the mid-fifties.

What makes this property unique

The surrounding Amish farms and untouched, pristine Pennsylvania landscape makes this a true escape from the ordinary. The distance to Penn State makes our farm cottage attractive to those who want to enjoy visiting the university but take in the countryside, as well.
