About this property
Waterfront retreat, year round fishing, boating, wine tasting. 1 hr from SF!
Welcome to the Georgiana Slough - a gorgeous, slow-moving river that offers swimming, fishing, boating. Visit dozens of local wineries, then fish and swim directly from our waterfront deck. Or relax and enjoy a view of Mount Diablo as the sun fades behind the hills.
The River House is one-of-a-kind. This is the only house in the area that is built right on the water. Watch fish jumping, otters and beavers. We are surrounded by farms, and have a walking trail just at the end of our yard.
The River House offers beautiful views of the central valley, the diablo range, and surrounding farmland. And of course, waterfront access to the river. The huge deck sits right over the water. Fish for bass, catfish, or salmon directly from the house while relaxing with a book.
As soon as you arrive, you will feel you are in another world.
**
You have the main house, the decks, and the lawn. we live on the west end of the propery, which includes the area past the lawn and the garage. We are respectful of your privacy but we do live there so you may see us around.
You have access to the dock and water, but dock use is not exclusive. The river is public so boats and other users come by.

We had a great time! The house was exactly as pictured and was very well stocked with everything from a blow dryer to salt and pepper! And omg the view was amazing! My husband and son in law fished the whole time, while my daughter and I soaked up the sunshine on the beautiful deck. The whole experience was amazing, the guys are already talking about going back! Thank you
Our host Alex was super kind, helpful, and responsive with our questions and requests. The house was very comfortable and met all of our family needs. The surrounding area was peaceful and quiet- located just far enough away from city life to decompress, but close enough to do a grocery run when needed. There is a lot of history to appreciate if you’re interested in exploring the area. Fishing the river was a learning curve- bring 4oz lead cause that current kicks. We had some luck and caught a largemouth bass and a pike minnow using anchovies and worms. Definitely recommend the stay!
This is such an amazing property. Quiet with beautiful views, and we went fishing directly from the back porch and dock. The kitchen is also easily the most well equipped and stocked of any rental that I’ve ever stayed in. I would LOVE to stay here again in the future.
This is beautiful home with big windows facing the delta...amazing huge deck and very peaceful and secluded environment. Perfect place for nature lover to relax watch birds, soak up some sun, do some fishing.
This is a peaceful little place to relax, fish, take a walk, admire nature and wake up to a beautiful sunrise. Plenty of room for a family of four to hang out together or each find their own peaceful corner. We all loved it and hope we can come back again.
Overall, this is a great place to stay if you want something quiet and away from everything. I loved that you could fish from the backyard. The only thing was that the fridge wasn't as clean as I would have liked, and there were cobwebs on the cabinet where the plates were, so we washed them before we used them. Would stay here agin.
A relaxing stay with all the amenities needed. Owners, very cordial and responsive. I have been there twice now, and both times were splendid! Spent most of the time on the deck that overhangs the slough by at least ten feet. A wonderful water experience. Wouldn't hesitate recommending this home to family or friends.
The views are amazing! Best part for sure. Kitchen very well stocked and the kayaks were great fun! Lots of outdoor seating areas, which we love. We chose this home because we attended a wedding at Grand Island Mansion, which was 20 minutes away. Overall, great weekend.
I perfect home on the river. Comfortable and welcoming. Supplied with all you need, plus more. The decks overlook the river and surrounding farmlands. Very quiet and peaceful with numerous areas to eat and relax. Excellent fishing off the dock! Host welcoming.
Lovely house with a beautiful setting on the Georgiana Slough. We saw beaver, turtles, a bass (caught be a fisherman) and 4 sea lions. So peaceful, beautiful sunsets. Kayaks were fun to take out. Our dog loved walks along the levee. Kitchen was well equipped.
My husband and son love to go fishing and I like to accompany them with the dogs, but prefer to have a place where we can relax, get in from out of the heat, that is close to water. This place answered these wishes and was a quick 45 min drive. We had a great time. Alex was very communicative and responsive and the boys caught a number of fish. We’d come again if our calendar allows when the bass are running.
Serene, remote location right on the delta. Enjoyed sitting on the patio watching the water roll by and enjoying nature. It was a very peaceful stay with very little road noise. The house was equipped with the basics needed. We brought groceries and were able to cook and eat full meals for mutiple days with the kitchen supplies. The furniture was comfortable and the house wide windows let in the light and the beauty of the surroundings. This location was ideal for us to disonnect and unwind.
About 15 minutes between Rio Vista and Isleton, this lovely home does not disappoint. Very well stocked kitchen and home. Nice en-suite primary with a Murphy bed in the family room (which can be closed off for privacy). The multiple seating areas on the deck, which spans the length of the house, is where you’ll want to plant yourself.
Amazing waterfront property and private home right on the Delta! Hands down recommend this place to anyone searching for a place for some rest and relaxation. A very, very clean home with a kitchen that is well stocked. You have the house all to yourselves and it makes it feel like you are away from it all. Both bathrooms are amazing but the guest bathroom with the piano and sit in tub was just adorable. The house has a ton of character inside and was a perfect winter getaway for our family of 3 and dog though the home could probably accommodate so many more people. I could see how this place probably gets booked fast in the summertime since it’s on the water but having stayed in December, I think it’s just as nice. Still a great place to stay to enjoy nature. The owner was quick to respond to my questions upon booking the reservation. Appreciated that upon arrival the home was nice and warm too during this time of year. Check in was very easy and no complaints. Nice attention to detail inside and had everything that we needed to make it feel like we were at home.
Cute small town nearby, only about 9 minutes driving distance where you can find a pizza place, grocery store, gas station, ice cream store and other fun shops.
Truly enjoyed the peacefulness of the property and loved watching the sunrise from the deck each morning. It was nice to just relax, do nothing, not think about time and just be lazy for a couple days. Our Shiba enjoyed our daily walks as she saw squirrels and sniffed just about everything in sight. Amazing outdoor space with a large deck and patio. We enjoyed just about everything about this home had to offer and loved walking down the levee trail at the end of the property. Great place if you just want to get away and relax.
My husband enjoyed throwing his fishing pole into the water and pointed out a couple sightings of an Elephant seal in the water. Love the small town feel and this property was just what we needed to slow things down a bit. Thank you, Alex for sharing your home on VRBO. We had an amazing time and hope to return in the future.
Very rustic and on the water. We came here so our dogs could swim. I didn't receive a check-in email from VRBO, but Alex sent me a message right away with information on how to access the house and answered any other questions we had.
The house was clean and well stocked. Every window overlooking the water was large and clean. We brought our dogs and got prior approval to bring them. They loved jumping off the docks into the water. (If you have mobility issues, there is just a small metal ramp to the docks that can be a bit unsteady for someone with balance issues)
The house was kept cool with AC units in each room, which was nice since we came during a 100+ degree heat wave. It was really too hot to be outside during the day except in the water, so we didn't sit on the decks too much.
We used the grill one night to grill steaks and potatoes, which was very convenient. We had a full kitchen with spices and dishes at our disposal.
The bathroom with the piano sinks and the bathtub was the cutest, even though we didn't get a chance to use the tub. The bathrooms were both stocked with soft towels, soap, and shampoo.
The property overall was perfect for what we were looking for, to get our dogs and our feet in the water. We used one kayak from the house (they have two) and I brought my paddleboard, so we were able to do that. It is in the country and on the water, so if you are bothered by bugs or dust or animals, this is not the place for you. But if you want a reasonable price for a place right on the water with all the amenities of a home, this place is for you. They even had dog water bowls out for us!
This house was perfect for our Father’s Day fishing weekend! Clean and spacious, it easily fit our family of five. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking and the whole house gets a great delta breeze. The slough that the house sits over has great water for kayaking and fishing-nice and calm. We appreciated the large selection of board games for our older kiddos and the littlest one had fun playing “pirates” on the large outdoor deck. We had a great stay and will definitely book again!!
While you are in the house or on the deck, you get the feeling you are on a boat. All that is missing is the rocking. You can see the Slough from the entire house. The kitchen is very well equipped with any type of cookware or silverware, etc. that you might need is there. The bed is very comfortable.
What is best is that you can fish right from your front deck. There are kayaks available for your use. The living room has tons of seating and a lot of games to choose from. The internet seemed good, but we were too busy enjoying the water views that we didn't access it much. There is also a nice grassy area where you could play petanque or other yard games.
Although you feel totally away from everything, it is only a short drive to a grocery store or sightseeing.
Overall, a great place to visit. I would say there are many of steps to fully access the decks .
Had an amazing, realaxing, kayaking, sun bathing weekend!

Why they chose this property
There are other properties that are both easily accessible by road, are built directly on the water, and are close to the Bay Area and Sacramento. Ths is the only one!
What makes this property unique
We are close to both Lodi and Clarksburg wine areas. During the winter and spring the area is a bird migration point, with thousands of birds passing through every day. We get sandhill cranes, geese, ducks, egrets, heron, and many many more. We also get marine mammals, including river otters, beaver, and sea lions! ** Mid-week nature boost: Most people come on the weekends, but if you are able to arrange your trip to be here on Monday-Thursday you will see more birds and wildlife. Most of the river users and boaters come on the weekends, and the weekdays are extra-quiet. It's still great all the time, though!
