This cozy cottage is nicely located by the water and walking distance to Ragged Mountain. It’s great to have water activities, hiking, and biking opportunities so close. The cottage is clean and has an interesting mix of old and new decor. The furniture is comfortable, which is appreciated at the end of active days. There was even a vase of wild flowers on table when we arrived, a nice touch. Downtown Camden is only minutes away, as well as Rockport and Rockland. We stayed as a family of 4 adults and 1 dog and everyone was very happy with the stay.
Beautiful location, but the cabin needs significant maintenanceCamden is an absolutely beautiful destination, and the property is in a great location. Unfortunately, the condition of the cabin made it difficult to fully enjoy our stay. There were numerous maintenance issues throughout the property. The ceiling has visible holes, the bathroom doors do not close properly, and the toilet and shower both felt unstable, to the point that we were concerned about using them. During rainstorms, the gutter drains directly onto the front porch, making it difficult to enter and leave without getting soaked. The kitchen was not adequately equipped for cooking. There were no basic cooking utensils, and the dishes were an assortment of mismatched pieces that appeared to have been collected over many years. The curtains throughout the cabin were misshapen and hanging unevenly, giving the impression that the property has not been maintained for quite some time. The vintage stereo, while perhaps intended as a nostalgic touch took significant time to get working. This cabin has a lot of potential because the setting is wonderful, but it needs a thorough refresh and basic repairs. If you’re looking for a truly rustic experience and don’t mind deferred maintenance, this may be fine. If you’re expecting a clean, well-maintained vacation rental with basic amenities and everything in working order, you may be disappointed.I hope Steve invests in the property.
The cabin is over the road from the pond, and its a busy road, but the setting is nice up in the woods a little. There is another cabin on the same property, but this spot feels very private. Its the floating cabana and canoe/kayaks that make it so fun. There are loons singing. The pond is lovely for swimming and exploring. 10 minute drive to Camden and a fabulous State park to get high up a mountain overlooking the bay. The cabin was fun, and could use a little more in the way of kitchen equipment, but the basics are there and the location is excellent.
