About this property
Sanctuary on the North Shore of Lake Superior
The unique feature of this property is the spectacular panoramic high bluff view of Lake Superior. Our property has direct access to the Blue Jay Vista Trail for both snowmobiles and ATV's. The A-frame structure features vaulted 2-story window views facing east to Lake Superior. Relax or dine on a second-story deck that provides expansive views along the north shore, Lake Superior, and the sun setting through the woods. The A-frame is completely secluded on 6 wooded acres. The property features two outdoor fire pit areas with plenty of seating and fire wood is provided.
Another unique feature is the location. Easy access for groceries, wine and spirits, eateries, and gas. Beaver Bay is close by with more restaurants and shopping. With several state parks nearby, guests will find numerous hiking and biking trails, waterfalls, and scenic views. A snowmobile/ATV trail system is within walking distance of the property.
The A-frame was completed in 2009 and is a perfect blend of new amenities and an 'up north' interior décor complete with log railings, furniture, and tongue & groove throughout. The great room has a vaulted ceiling and panoramic unobstructed views of Lake Superior. Enjoy an even more expansive view from an outdoor seating area on the edge of the bluff.

We found Dave’s A frame to be very clean, comfortable, and cozy. Loved the Lake Superior views. Perfect location for all of the hiking trails . House is located in a very peaceful setting..I would highly recommend renting this property.
We had a great time at The Sanctuary. The house is in a great location with beautiful night skies. I was unable to give this house 5 stars because it just wasn't as well appointed & cared for as other VRBO rentals we've stayed in which earned 5 stars. Our experience would have been improved with more comfortable beds, a better equipped kitchen & more comfortable furniture on the lovely deck.
We had a wonderful stay at The Sanctuary. The A-frame worked well for our family of five. Dave was very responsive to our questions, and instructions sent in advance and at the cabin were very helpful (thanks, Dave!). Beautiful view of the lake from the cabin and yard. Lots of amenities and things to do both at the cabin and nearby. We wished we had more days there, and hope to visit again soon! :)
Absolutely stunning views from every direction of this home. I’ve lived in MN my whole life and we make one to two trips to the North Shore each year. This home will be a top 5 memory! The house had everything we needed. Tons of indoor and outdoor space and also very private. Our host communicated all the details ahead of our trip and they had a great book full of recommendations in the area. We would gladly stay again!
We absolutely loved our stay at the A-Frame! The views were amazing, the location was great, and the house had everything we could need). 10/10 recommend.
Best view of Lake Superior in a private setting. The location of this vrbo is wonderful - set back up on a hill overlooking Lake Superior. Very convenient to drive north to Lutsen for golf or south to restaurants in Tofte and Two Harbors. We were two couples who each had our own king bedroom and bath. Very comfortable beds. Bathrooms were stocked with shampoo, conditioner and a blow dryer. We didn’t make any food at the house but the kitchen is well stocked. There are ample glasses and silverware. We loved sitting on the two decks watching the sunrise and sunset. Highly recommend this place!
Great location! Cozy cabin with a spectacular view!

This VRBO is truly a Sanctuary. It sits perched on a hill among the trees. Jack rabbits played and grazed in the yard. The view is amazing! The town folk are friendly and helpful. We found everything as listed. No matter which direction you drive there is a restaurant to be found. No matter the distance to drive to and from a distination for the day, the drive itself is beautiful.
Our stay was wonderful! The house was amazing and in an absolutely beautiful location, overlooking Lake Superior. We would be very happy to stay there again!
The property is fantastic and in a great, central location on the North Shore. The house is well maintained and appointed, with lots of thoughtful touches to give guests a great stay.
We are full-time working professionals who love to get away on the north shore. We have many fond memories from our own childhood of spending vacation time up north, and then created new ones with our 2 children. It is a setting that appeals to those who want to do nothing but relax & enjoy the beauty of the north shore, to those that prefer to be active outdoors.
Why they chose this property
We chose this property for the unique expansive view of Lake Superior. An added plus is the location and proximity to many state parks, Lutsen Ski Resort, restaurants and stores.
What makes this property unique
The view of Lake Superior changes constantly so we enjoy the ever-changing scenery. We continue to find new scenic locations that are accessible on short or long hikes, or on recreational vehicle trails. The views are spectacular both inside and outside so the weather does not inhibit full enjoyment of the beauty of the north shore.
