Allan & Denise were wonderful hosts, responsive and had great recommendations. The layout and cleanliness of the cottage was superb, very comfortable and cozy. We saw deer, but only bears we saw were the pictures decorating the walls of the cottage. It was a great location for our trips. We will be back again.
Our family booked this property because we were trail riding at Doe Mountain Trails. This was the perfect spot to stay for that. The house was super clean and having a fully supplied kitchen was even better. We will definitly be booking more stays in the future.
Very cute house that makes the perfect get away. There is plenty to do if you want to explore the moutains. We would definitely recommend this listing.
Perfect little cabin for a great vacation get away!
Everything was just as listed. The house was clean and updated, everything we needed was there. We cooked many meals at the home with ease. Close to many attractions and quaint towns.
The property is very nice and well maintained. It has recent renovations and is well stocked with anything a guest would need. My wife and I found it comfortable and relaxing. It is a nice farm setting. We will stay there again.
The home had everything that was needed. It was clean, the beds were firm and it was easy to get to. Lots of things to see and do in the area. According to your likes. Small town but the big one (Boone) is less than an hour away.
This house was comfortable with homey touches to make you feel welcome. The hosts were in touch with friendly suggestions and helpful advice. Fun visitors came near the house like deer, a skunk, fire flies and bats. Enjoyable setting and quiet.
The place is perfect. Clean, has everything you need, kitchen is open to the living area for family togetherness. The property is amazing. Well kept trails. Moderate level hiking. Beautiful mountain with a large open area as well as the many acres of wooded mountain. We feel blessed to have had the opportunity to have stayed in such a beautiful place. It was a destination in itself for us and worth the long drive from Miami.
We really enjoyed our stay. The house was very clean and comfortable. Close enough to Watauga Lake for easy access to daytime activities. There are yellow jackets under the back steps, so possibly a best, as they will come out and sting you if you stand on the back steps too long. Just wanted to let you know. Thank you for an awesome stay.

Thanks for letting us know about the bees. We have already fixed that problem! Pesky little devils!
We enjoyed our stay in rural Butler County. This property is very quiet and functional. The living quarters were comfortable and clean. The property was very enjoyable.
Allan communicated openly and was very helpful.
We hiked the woods behind the house.
This spot is great if your looking for a secluded quiet spot to kick back. Perfect amount of space for us with everything we needed in the home. Only thing I would suggest is a few staples in the kitchen such as non stick spray, some spices, etc. But overall we were quite impressed with the property.

With Covid, we can't leave opened containers of supplies after guests. Everything opened must be disposed of. I'll make a note that guests might want to bring their favorite spices along if they plan to cook.
I would return. Alan was always available to answer any questions. The home was clean, well cared for, and sitting on the porch was a delight. I even saw a Red Carnal Bird....If you are looking for a peace of heaven, you will find it their.
Alan was quick to respond to any questions I had. I was a little skeptical after passing a few shady looking neighbors but as soon as I entered the house, I seemed to have forgotten about them. The house had so many little things that brought that " I'm home" feeling, from the beautiful quilts to the Tiffany style lamps. Denise even had my style drinking glasses from home there. What a coincidence! I wish we would've had more time to spend there. Thank you Alan and Denise for your home away from home.
Gail and I enjoyed our ten-day stay at Allan and Denise's vacation house.
We hiked the 110 acres of private forest behind the house. There are improved trails that circle the property.
We were hoping to see Coyote and Fox, but all we saw was bear sign.
And then we saw a sow and 3 cubs. They were about 60 yards away from us. The sow did not notice us right away, but when she did, she signaled the cubs and they climbed the trees at a break-neck speed.
The mama bear got bored watching us, then turned-tail with the cubs in tow. They appeared to be very healthy bears. Beautiful!
Make sure you make reservations at Suba's in Mtn. City. Excellent food and scratch-made desserts by a formally-trained dessert chef. The main entrees are also made by a trained chef. Wonderful food! Very nice staff!
We rented an ATV at Doe Mountain and cruised the many trails at Doe Mountain. It is huge. Doe Mountain is about 20 minutes from the cabin. It is a beautiful forest.
We had one problem with the HVAC system and Allan had a tech there on Memorial Day.
Great service by a nice tech!
We had a great vacation!
Thanks again Allan and Denise!
