About this property
Sunny & Cheerful Ski-in/Ski-Out Luxury Condo Overlooking the Blue River
What enchanted us about this condo was its peaceful wooded setting by the Blue River. It is a second-floor corner unit, quiet and private, close enough to the ground to hear the river and high enough to have a spectacular view of the snow on the pine trees.
In the winter, sit in front of the fireplace and watch the snow falling on the pines outside your window after a day of breath-taking skiing. In the summer, sip a glass of wine on the balcony off the living room as you listen to the rushing sounds of the Blue River nearby and relax after a day of playing in beautiful Colorado. Or just curl up with a book or a movie in the bright and sunny living room.
This cheerful and spacious 1,600 sq. ft. unit has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths and is just 150 yards from the Quicksilver chairlift at Peak Nine base, a five-minute walk from Main Street and the heart of Breckenridge, and is surrounded by miles of skiing, hiking and biking trails.
Why the Owner Chose Powderhorn: We picked Breckenridge and this particular property for a number of reasons. We live in Boulder, Colorado, so Breckenridge is conveniently located--we can be there in less than two hours. We were there in the summer of 1996 and stayed at a place near the Blue River. It was a typical Colorado day--the sun was shining, the sky was blue, it was hot but without the humidity that plagues so many other states--and we thought: Wouldn't it be nice to have a place here. The rest is history!
Our condo at Powderhorn is right next to the Blue River, so in the summer we can leave the doors of our deck off the master bedroom open and go to sleep to the sound of the river gurgling beneath us.
Why the Owner Chose Powderhorn (continued): Powderhorn is also adjacent to the Peak 9 Quicksilver lift, so an easy ski-in ski-out for DeWitt. Sandra, who does not ski, likes the fact that in less than 5 minutes on foot she can be in town. Of the various ski towns within two hours of Denver, Breckenridge is by far the largest and the one with the richest history. So after a hard day of skiing or biking we can enjoy some truly outstanding restaurants.
The Unique Benefits at this Condominium: In the winter, skiing, of course, is the primary activity. In the summer we enjoy biking and hiking. There are miles of trails in all directions. The ambitious biker can even bike to Vail!
And the condo is large enough that it feels like a real home. It is 1600 sq. ft. with a huge living/dining area, a deck that can comfortably seat 4, and a large kitchen for those who love to cook. City Market, which is affiliated with Kroger and King Soopers, is close by and a great resource for good groceries. And there are some great restaurants that we would be happy to recommend. Oh, and don't forget to ask us about the best bran muffin . . . !

About the host
Hosted by Sandra
We are retired and love to travel. When we travel we almost always stay at Bed and Breakfasts because we enjoy the personal touches that each place offers to the cold anonymity of most hotel rooms. That is why we have decorated our condo in warm and vibrant Mediterranean colours and have hung family and travel photos on our walls.
