Place was very comfortable, and had everything we needed. Beach towels for the hot tub were a nice touch, most places that we've stayed with hot tubs did not have this perk.
This is our third time staying at this property. It’s always a perfect experience. The hosts are on hand to greet you, they communicate well, and think of small details many other rentals don’t have. I always recommend Starr Mountain to friends and family.
I've debated about whether or not to leave this review. The reason for the low rating is because of FLEAS. This was a short 2 night trip and we arrived late in the evening the first day. I guess the fleas were not active while the home was vacant. We didn't notice them until the 2nd day and then realized it was a full blown infestation. When I contacted the hosts, they did respond quickly, but the solutions offered didn't do the situation justice. They brought flea bombs, which would require us to be gone for several hours. Or, we could move to another one of their cabins. Which also wouldn't be ready for a few more hours as guests had just left that morning. By then, our belongings had fleas in them. I would have expected at least a partial refund for all the trouble this has caused. Despite my efforts to kill any fleas before bringing our stuff inside at home, fleas still got in my car and our home from this trip.

We're sorry this happened and took what we felt were appropriate measures at the time. None of our previous guests had reported fleas. Stephanie refused a free upgrade to our best cabin and provided no evidence to the existence of fleas. We flea bombed the cabin after they checked out and changed out the rug.
This cabin was perfect for me, my boyfriend, and our two dogs. They had all the essential needs for basic meals in the kitchen and even provided extra super cozy blankets. We did have a visit on two separate nights from two dogs which we assume live in a nearby place, just something to keep in mind as our dogs are dog reactive! If we choose to visit this area again we will definitely be rebooking!
Very quiet, calming space.Especially enjoyed the art and lamps. All the furniture is very comfortable. The morning light highlights everything. The hot is so relaxing, plus the cover above the hot tub is such a great idea.
We enjoyed all the art touches. Conveniently located and felt like we were the only people there.
The only drawback was access (stairs) But wouldn't keep us from booking again.
The cabin was very comfortable and decorated beautifully. It was stocked with everything we needed and in a great location. The property is full of life-trees, moss, plants, skinks, owls-great place to take a walk on the trails they have if you have some down time or just enjoy the view from the balcony or hot tub! Thank you for your kind hospitality! We are hoping to come back and check out another cabin on the property!

Liked: Check-in, communication
Disliked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
There is no privacy. The owners dog was running around the property barking at every sound all day and night. Jumped on me and got new shoes muddy. Hot tub was not clean. Stove has lots of rust on it. The shower sounded like it was screaming. Cabin smelled like dirty wet dog. Lots of other issues.

Heather never informed us of any of these issues. The first we knew she was having problems was when they told us they were leaving. She and her husband were introduced to our new dog and were told to let us know if the dog bothered them in any way. She initially booked for 5 nights, then left after the first night, for which we gave a full refund on the remaining nights. Other people have stayed in the Mountaineer cabin since Heather's visit and haven't had any of the same issues that Heather did.
