We were only able to stay for a few days, but had a truly lovely time. We enjoyed using the unit's bikes to get lunch at Tony's; had a great time star gazing on the benches at the top of the boardwalk at the Green Road public beach access; had a yummy meal at Safe Harbor Seafood Restaurant; watched some beautiful sunsets and saw dolphins at the Green Road boat ramp; and spent a lot of peaceful time walking and hanging out on the gorgeous Crescent Beach. The sand is perfect! Oh, and the hammock chairs are a comfy touch for the front porch.
Make sure you take a walk down Charles Street to get a feel of the authentic charm of barrier island neighborhoods of old.
It is a bit of a trek to walk to the beach access points (our walking speed got us to Cubbedge Rd. access- bathroom and parking lot-- in about 8 minutes, and to the beautiful Green Road access in about 10 minutes). If you're going to be schlepping a lot of beach things, might be best to just drive and park in the lot.
The bed in the rental was comfy and I appreciated the curtains to help block out some of the early morning light. The pull-out couch in the living room area gets bright very early, so put kids who won't care there ;P Also, the HVAC has a bright LED screen that makes for a not-dark sleeping environment, but I found you can use the remote to turn that off. Shower/tub is somewhat slippery, so be aware. Also, there's soap provided for everywhere except the shower.
When we were there, all of the pans had Teflon that was more scratched up than we would use at home, so if you're concerned about that kind of thing, you might want to bring your own pan. Also, the dishes are washed by the previous guests, not the cleaning crew, so that ends up like you might expect.
If you have to do a lot of computer work while you're here (my partner worked two full days and I just worked a few hours on my computer), know that the chairs aren't really comfortable for long sits. The couch will be where you end up, so maybe this isn't the best choice if you're doing a lot of remote work. Wifi was great for what we needed, though.
Overall, we loved our visit to this charming area and would definitely stay at this unit again. Kayla was GREAT at communication!
