Windsurfing and 'Winging' : Padre Island is one of the best WindSport destinations in the world, and this house has one of the best and most convenient launches on the Island for Windsurfers, or 'Wingers' (not good for Kiteboarding). It's a 75ft walk from the garage to the walk-in launch (no sea wall). The launch is located on the point of land on the Island that reaches furthest out into the Laguna Madre so the wind shadow is minimized. The garage can store 14 rigged sails on hooks hanging from the ceiling. Watch your friends from the deck ! (If you know the Island, I don't mean to take anything away from 'The Flats', but as far as a launch that is close to your house and rigged gear, this is as good as it gets !.)

Bird Watching: Padre Island is known for great bird watching. Visit the new $6.5 million dollar birding center just north of us. And we have a small wetland just behind our house that has offered an array of egrets, herons, Great Blue Heron, Rosy Spoonbills, Osprey, kingfishers and more.

A large, relaxing home with a beautiful view of Laguna Madre. Our family of four enjoyed the quiet location, used the kayaks on Laguna Madre and took walks over to the gulf-side beach each day. Owner gets extra high marks for communication and hospitality. Absolutely recommend and plan to stay there again.

Look no further for your SPI getaway!

The Big Blue Beach house was the perfect home for our group of 8. It is clean and well maintained. The host also provides detailed information on the home and how to operate household appliances as well as a well written description of the island so you always have something to do. Our group did most everything on the list. Thank you Dave for sharing your beautiful home with us and if we ever visit SPI again, this will be the first place I look!

SPI Fishing Trip

We're SPI regulars that night fish on the bay. We wanted to be close to our friends house. FABULOUS! Great set up for the night fishermen to come in downstairs and not disturb the upstairs folks. Beautiful home. Porch is peaceful and big enough to sit back, read & stay dry during a rain. Highly recommend. We hope it's available for our future stay.

Words can't describe this slice of paradise

I simply can not say enough about this home! There is no doubt we will be back and it was worth every penny! It truly was accommodating in every aspect. We were able to comfortably watch the sunset and the fireworks from the comfort of this deck every night! We were also able to use their Kayak and stand up paddle boards right from the bay. I already have recommended this home to friends and family and like I said… We will ABSOLUTELY be back again! Thank you for sharing your home with us and we appreciate all your efforts in making it feel like our home away from home!

This place is awesome! Great for a few families.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Big Blue Beach House. The home is immaculate, comfortable, spacious and well-stocked with everything you need to make for a fabulous vacation. We rent from VRBO and Homeaway a few times a year (in different locations) and this is definitely one of the best homes we've encountered. You'll find tons of comfy towels, spices, condiments and other necessities in the kitchen, a great entertaining floor plan and tons of closet space. The deck is fantastic for chilling out after a long beach day and above all we loved that we could bring our well-behaved Golden-doodle, Murphy, along. We had an excellent customer-service experience with Dave from the very beginning and throughout our stay. He really wants to make sure that every visitor gets the most out of their vacation. We will definitely be back!

Amazing!!!

We stayed for a week at The Blue House and it was beyond our expectations. The house was clean, the amenities were plentiful and the host Dave was so kind and went above and beyond for us. Everything worked perfectly. He had everything we needed and more. The house was spacious and we actually spent an entire day just lounging at home. We walked to the beach one day and it was maybe a 10 minute walk. Our kids took the kayaks out and had a blast. There were 8 people in our group 3 adults and our kids ranging from 19 to 5. We all agreed this was the best house we have stayed at. Oh and the fireworks from the front patio were perfect! No need to fight traffic and the crowds. Thank you so much Dave!! We are hoping to come back next 4th of July.

Great Location- Wow what sunsets!!!!!!!!!!!

Location was perfect for us. We played on the paddle boards and canoe right from the bay just steps away from the driveway! (My husband paddled to the causeway and back, even) When we wanted to hit the beach we just walked there from the house. It was a nice walk- not too far at all. The master bed is soooo comfortable. No TV in any of the bedrooms though...My son was bummed but the rest of us didn't care! The BIG TV in the family room was just fine for us! Kitchen was comfortable too- we even cooked the night we arrived! found everything we needed. Dave- you are the perfect host! All of the information you gave us was so helpful. No detail was spared!!!! Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer.

Thanks Amy ! Regarding no TV's in the bedrooms, we've asked for feedback from guests on this and no one seemed to think we needed to add any. And since in just about every case, the logical place for the TV (furniture wise) is right in front of a window view of the water, we thought it better not to add any. Beyond any Expectations

There aren't enough positive words in the dictionary to describe our experience during our stay at the Big Blue Beach House! We have rented several properties through VRBO/Homeaway, and for the most part have had good experiences, but nothing compares to our experience here. We stayed there for two months in February and March, so we had plenty of time to evaluate our experience. The house is somehow gorgeous and comfortable at the same time. It was spotlessly clean throughout the entire home. The kitchen is not only stocked with anything and everything you'll need, but in addition, it's completely organized with labels of what goes where, so you won't be searching high and low for that spatula or pizza cutter you need! So, obviously the house is amazing (oh, don't get me started on the awesome deck!!), but if that isn't enough in itself, the owner Dave literally goes above and beyond in every possible way. He provides, in writing, every detail you need to know about the house so once you get there, you won't have any problems. However, if you do have any questions, his response is practically immediate. On top of that, he provides you with a "South Padre Island Orientation" package that lists, in detail, restaurants and attractions they recommend on the island. I referred to that list constantly when we were trying to decide where to go! He is sincerely concerned about making sure you have a great time while you're there. A portion of our stay happened to be during Spring Break, which was a new experience for us. Dave knew this, and went out of his way to call us to make sure we weren't having any issues and gave us a few pointers of how to best deal with it (FYI, we had absolutely no problems during that time, and actually enjoyed talking with a lot of the kids). Bottom line is, stop reading this and go request this property NOW, because you will not find anything remotely as nice as this on the island, especially for the price!

Shortened Stay Unfortunately

We are Canadians, who arrived at Big Blue before the COVID 19 pandemic had gotten to the dangerous phase it eventually did. The home was large and well maintained, with all required accommodations available and more. We enjoyed the weather and the proximity to the beach, shopping, and interesting activities during the first 2 wks. Unfortunately, like many other out-of-country vacationers, we had to pack up and leave 2 wks earlier than we planned, due to the growing virus crisis. The bright spot in all of this was that we were fortunate to be dealing with a very reasonable and accommodating owner. This definitely softened the disappointment we experienced in our vacation being cut in half.

Great Location on SPI

Wonderful house on SPI, great location, short walk to Gulf side beaches, quiet neighborhood. Central to restaurants, shops and grocery store. Owner is a great communicator, checked several time on how we were, when we had one minor issue he responded within two hours and took care of the issue immediately. My wife said this is the best equipped kitchen on any place we have ever rented. Bikes, kayaks for use, 10 yards to put in on bayside. Would have liked to rent property for next year, but is already rented, but will definitely try to stay here again.

Better than the pictures can show!

What a great property! The house was very clean, well taken care of, and decorated perfectly. The kitchen was very well stocked and the spice drawer amazing. The wrap around porch is great for morning coffee or evening wine gatherings. Especially like the location - far less traffic and away from the crazy party areas and still just a few minutes from anyway in the city.

A great home for a large family and Pet friendly!

Dave has a beautiful home with all the creature comforts you could possibly want - Situated steps from the bay for kayaking, Windsurfing, Paddle Boarding and amazing sunsets! Home has a huge kitchen with all you need for family meals, 5 bedrooms with 2 Master Suites! Absolutely a great place for a large family to get away together and have ample privacy. We look forward to staying here again next year!

A MUST STAY!!!

This place is AMAZING!! Our large family stayed here very comfortably. The deck was awesome!! The views were breathtaking. We loved watching the fireworks sitting on the deck. Everything was clean and just simply amazing. The location was great and all of the extra things made our trip even better. The owner, Dave, was super helpful and the communication was great. Fantastic!

The Big Blue Beach house was everything it was advertised to be and more. Definitely the nicest house I have rented to date. It is spacious, clean and well equipped. The owner of the house was the most helpful owner I have ever encountered and provided a wealth of information on how to use the appliances in the home and how to make the most of a visit to South Padre Island. The location is extremely convenient and located on a very quiet street. The deck space on the second floor is wonderful and provided outstanding views of the bay and the sunsets.
