The Farmhouse

This recently updated, charming and comfortable coastal farmhouse is the perfect place to stay for a large family or group. New furnishings are balanced with antiques to respect the authenticity of this 1850's farmhouse. Two living rooms, 4 bedrooms, two outdoors sitting areas in addition to a dining room and large kitchen provide lots of space for people to spread out and relax. Within easy walking distance to the town center, restaurants and shops. 3 night minimum. AC recently added.

We have been staying on Mount Desert Island for the past 5 years. The Farmhouse was a lovely home away fromhome that allowed us all to relax and regroup after our adventures. The kitchen is well set up and easy to adapt to, the seating areas/dens are comfortable and clean and the outdoor space is wonderful! We would definitely stay here again!

What a beautiful home and wonderful stay! The house was comfortable and absolutely spotless, which I appreciated immensely. Everything was incredibly clean and well cared for, and we felt at home right away. Our host was extremely accommodating, responsive, and gracious throughout our stay. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at this property! The location was convenient and made it easy to get to everything we wanted to see. The house itself was well kept and beautifully decorated — you can tell the owners put real care into it. The beds were comfortable, which made a big difference after long days out. We also loved the nice front yard and appreciated having ample parking for our vehicles. Water pressure was great, which is always a nice surprise at a rental. On top of all that, the host was responsive and easy to communicate with anytime we had a question. We’d happily stay here again!

What a spacious home! Loved the large kitchen and dining room. The home was very clean. The beds were comfortable. Also, having blackout shades was a bonus for the early sunrise in Maine during the summer. Parking was easy. The wrap around porch and backyard firepit added outdoor living space to the mix. Since the cushions for the outdoor furniture are stored indoors, they were clean and dry. Three of the four bedrooms have two windows for cross ventilation. We would definitely stay here again!

We loved our stay at the farmhouse and in southwest harbor. Ingrid was a wonderful host - she even brought over a cooler we could use on our picnic. The home was well stocked and we enjoyed time on the patio and in the yard.

Excellent accommodations. Very clean; 3 double beds comfortable; did not use single beds. First floor sitting rooms each with TV very nice. Front porch and seating comfortable. Only downside: house faces busy road but is setback so road noise not too bad.

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay. Clarity for future guests- 2 bedrooms have queen size beds, 1 bedroom has a king bed and the 4th bedroom has 2 twins.

Quiet side of the Island

Staying in the farmhouse was a wonderful experience - from the well appointed kitchen to the great location, what was not to love. The rooms were all spacious and beds comfortable. The house was a great place to call home while we explored Acadia. The added plus of the washer/dryer was wonderful. We hope to stay here next year when we come back for our annual friend trip to Acadia.

Family vaca

We love all things Acadia, and love being in Southwest Harbor. So this beautiful farmhouse was the perfect location and size for the 5 of us. We enjoyed the grill and eating on the deck, watching a rain storm from the front porch complete with comfy chairs, and slept wonderfully in wonderfully furnished rooms. Thanks so our hosts.

Good family time

The location to Southwest Harbor and Acadia was great. The rental house accommodations were good for our family. Road noise was disturbing. The rental cost for the week was high.

Great family getaway

We loved staying with our family of 6 on the quiet side of the island. It met all our needs. It was close to street but we noticed most of the properties in the area are. When sleeping it was sometimes loud with cars passing by but we all learned to use fans of the windows were open. The property was attractively decorated and it was a short walk to the town which was small but had a few restaurants and shop

Lovely updated farmhouse

We were so pleased with our stay at the Farmhouse in Southwest Harbor. It was totally comfortable, updated, and equipped with most everything we needed (minus shampoos/ body wash- but this was advertised) for an enjoyable stay. We appreciated the proximity to a food market (driving distance) and a coffee shop (walking distance). Overall a beautiful and immaculate home with a ton of history. Loved being on the quieter side of Acadia, but just close enough to get everywhere we wanted to go.

Beautiful old farmhouse

This is a beautiful old farmhouse in very good condition, perfect for our extended family trip to Acadia! It's located on the main street in Southwest Harbor within walking distance from a coffee shop and 5-30 min from all Acadia activities and Bar Harbor. The house has some quirks due to being an old farmhouse (uneven floors in places, barn door on bathroom) but overall was extremely comfortable. The bedrooms are surprisingly soundproof, which was great since we were travelling with a toddler and young kids who went to bed while the adults stayed up later.

Beautiful house for a big family!

Our family loved this house. It is even more beautiful than the photos show. It was a quick walk to the downtown shops and a very easy drive to everywhere we wanted to go. The front porch was lovely for a meal or drink and to leave shoes post hike so the house stayed clean. It had more than most properties in terms of paper towels, laundry detergent, salt and pepper, etc. The beds were comfortable and the bedding felt high quality and clean. The only caveat is the the road noise is pretty constant. It didn't bother us, but for those looking for a very quiet place, this isn't that. We used the plenty of fans for white noise while sleeping. Also, the house has an attached rental. That was fine for us but with young kids I did feel like I needed to keep them quiet in the early mornings when they wanted to play on the porch. We would definitely return!
