The cottage is a separate unit, a backyard 'granny-flat' that's about 750sq. feet . You have two seperate bedrooms, a kitchenette/living area plus bathroom. Freshly remodeled, this 'beach close' charmer looks out upon a secluded garden and lawn and loads of flowers. Eclectic is the feeling. Attention to 'creature comforts' and simplicity was the intention when renovating[Italian and Mexican tile accents, hardwood floors...] . An adjoining [but completely private] second bedroom is generously sized and includes a double bed. The kitchenette and living area overlooks the lawn and garden area.. . NO SMOKING in house or on the grounds. NOTE: there is a step from the main bedroom area into the kitchen area..Also from the kitchen area to the outside patio.
We respect your privacy, and ours. NO EXTRA FOLKS ON THE PROPERTY..NO EXCEPTIONS. (meet family and friends off the premises)
We see the situation as most attractive to couples, or couples with children, looking for a peaceful setting within a short walk to our little beach town and our great beaches-, Cardiff, Solana Beach, Encinitas and Leucadia, a sample of Southern California beach living.

We are located in one of north San Diego County's oldest neighborhoods, the Highlands of Encinitas. A 10 to 15 min. walk and you will find yourself in the quaint seaside town. Ethnic dining is big; great Italian, Peruvain, Thai, Indian, Japanese, etc.- Encinitas seems to be on the cutting edge of the 'conscious life-style' movement so health minded options abound. Whole Foods is close by. While the beach and ocean remain the main attractions, the beautiful gardens of the Self Realization Fellowship are a short walk into town, a resource for relaxation and rejuvenation. Our town is 'coming of age' you might say and it's all just a short walk away.

Return to the tranquility of your secluded and cozy garden cottage. If it feels like a fit, drop in and give us a try, maybe you'll become a regular.

Wonderful place

What a delightful spot! Carol and Tony couldn't have been more welcoming and generous. The casita was comfortable and clean, and the little back patio was so nice. Easy access to the beach, downtown Encinitas and the freeway. Great place.

Great beach vacation spot!

The cottage is in a great location close to town and the beach. The cottage has a beautiful yard with a great patio area and has everything you need for a relaxing beach vacation. Tony & Carol are spectacular hosts and we are looking forward to our next visit.

Great Cottage!

Listing is accurate; perfect holiday getaway. Weather was stormy but cottage was warm and comfortable. 15 minute walk down to Swami’s beach and restaurants on the strip.

Wonderful, Chill Oasis

Carol and Tony's place was clean, comfortable, authentic, and low-key. It was a perfect basecamp for adventures. The location is close enough to town to be convenient, while far enough away to offer a peaceful respite from the hustle. It was a quiet place to recharge after a day of adventure. A great place for some peace and quiet

It’s perfect for two people. We spent a lot of time hanging out on the patio enjoying Carol and Tony’s wonderful backyard. Very comfortable stay, all within walking distance of the town and local beaches. Food in town was great, everything you’d expect in a SoCal beach community. Our hosts were pleasant and attentive.

Excellent spot in a nice location

Nice, clean, easy-to-access location with very friendly and helpful property owners. I stayed with my wife, our 5-month-old, and my mom and it worked out well for us. Carol provided a porta-crib which worked great, really nice outdoor space.

Sweet cottage

This is a cute cottage that has 2 bedrooms and a small kitchen-no oven but a toaster oven, microwave and hot plate. One of the bedrooms has a small sitting area with a TV screen. The garden was really beautiful with lots of seating areas.The hosts were very helpful and generous. Thanks so much! We had a great time!

Comfy and peaceful

Your hosts Carol and Tony Hyde have resided in the local community since the early seventies. Carol, a nurse and psychotherapist, is an avid ocean kayaker and hiking enthusiast. Tony has worked in the surfing industry and in property development, but his passion and main focus is riding waves. He is happy to share his local knowledge with those who ask, as is Carol.

Why they chose this property

We both were drawn to Encinitas for the same reason- its' laid back Southern California charm. Through the years we have enjoyed sharing the many attributes of our location with our friends and family and have recently decided we would like to expand that pool to include guests through VRBO.

What makes this property unique

Primarily we offer a quiet space for our guests that is within comfortable walking distance from the beach and town. (about a 15 minute walk!).We enjoy maintaining our cottages' gardenlike setting and look forward to offering a tranquil and relaxed atmosphere to those who are drawn to come. For the more adventuresome, the local surfshops provide rentals and equipment to indulge your passion. Surf Camps and Surf Lessons are offered close to Moonlight Beach, right down the way. The sidewalks don't close up at 8:00 pm anymore, Encinitas has it's share of nightlife, music and drinking establishments that 'pepper' the Coast Highway.
