We were all very rested and relaxed. We enjoyed the beautiful spaces to sit and enjoy each other’s company. The chalet, flowers and setting
made a terrific base to come and go from as we celebrated a family wedding.
We loved this house . Beautiful, clean, well-stocked, lots of original art and house plants, great energy, very comfortable beds, close to some sweet hikes and waterways. We would love to stay here again!
Perfect spot for a girls get away. We came to the area to see a show at the Treehouse in Deerfield and would return just to stay at the house again. Hannah was amazing and communicative and her dog Tilly was just an absolute peach!
Great spot for a friends' getaway! The house is spacious with a bright, big living room perfect for gatherings. The location is stunning, nestled in a beautiful area with a hiking trail right in the backyard. Plus, there are interesting places to visit nearby like Historic Deerfield and Shelburne Falls. The only downside was some machinery noise from the first floor, especially at night. Overall, a lovely stay!

Thanks for staying, Stas! The noise is the furnace keeping the house warm :)
What a lovely setting to share with my family. Quiet, charming, clean, and comfortable with a fantastic host (whom I never officially me), but who was there at a moments notice. Thank you Hannah for a lovely stay. Will come back again someday.
Hannah's place was spectacular. It was just the right combination of plugged in and unplugged. We loved the fact that we could come inside into a climate controlled house and also be so close to swimming, falls and outdoor play. Hannah stocked the house with all the necessary amenities including adequate cleaning supplies to make sure we could tidy up after our 3 & 5 year old. Great jumping off point for Ashfield Lake, Chapel Falls, and slightly farther jaunts to the Holyoke Children's Museum and Look Park. Perfect stay to being our pup and let her enjoy the outdoor hiking and water nearby. Ten out of ten, would recommend!

Thank you for staying, Erin! Your always welcome if you're in the area again.
We had a lovely stay and Hannah was a wonderful host. The house is picturesque and we watched snow fall every morning through the living room windows. My daughter played out in the snow and loved seeing the goats in the barn. It was a quick drive to Berkshires East for a ski weekend. Would stay again!
Hannah’s home is incredibly warm and welcoming. The natural light and beautiful plants enhance the beauty. The wraparound deck is a perfect place to enjoy morning coffee with the birds or observe the multitude of stars in the evening. The beds are cozy and comfortable! We had the extra bonus on seeing newborn goats during our visit - they were very cute! Hannah was a great communicator and willing to help in any way. I highly recommend this location.
Despite the great reviews, I was still surprised with how fantastic this home was. Everyone in the family commented on how nice everything was. The home and the location were both beautiful. Everything was meticulously prepared and extremely well-appointed. Instructions and information were clear and abundant. We were very comfortable (I didn't try all the beds, but the one I slept in was wonderful!) We were about 30 minutes from everything we needed to access. Thanks for a lovely time!

Thanks, Deborah! I am glad you enjoyed your stay :)
We absolutely loved our stay at the Sunny Chalet in Ashfield! Hannah the host is highly communicative & supportive, & her herbal business on the property is sublime (definitely partake of the teas!). We gathered a small collection of family members to celebrate an 80th birthday and our two teens and 4 adults (40s-80) were all beautifully comfortable in the equisite home. Every space is provisioned thoughtfully and enhanced with gorgeous plants and artwork. Whether the weather is stormy or clear, the beauty of nature is visible all around in every comfortable room and the wrap-around deck is delightful. It would have been good to understand from the main Vrbo listing that A/C is in the main space & upstairs master bedroom but not in the other bedrooms (which do have fans!), and that laundry is only available for longer stays, but those slight hiccups were nothing compared to the overall care and beauty of the home, property, and attentive host communication. Plus Ashfield is awesome generally, and the local beach is our favorite & such a short drive from the house! We will definitely return.

Did not meet expectations
First of all we didn’t have heat or hot water until noon on our second day there.
The owner didn’t get back to us until several hours after reaching out.
Which is why I had to reach out to VRBO.
No one could shower.
Thank god there was a fireplace so we were able to keep warm until it was fixed, which was done so by us.
Second, I specifically contacted the owner regarding internet and if the WiFi was good so we could bring a fire stick to watch football for the day on Sunday. The owner responded yes, internet is good, but neglected to inform me that they did not have a television.
Also, there were many dirty dishes, pots and pans.
Very disappointed with our stay.

I’m sorry to hear your disappointments, Melissa. If I had known there was no heat or hot water I would have been there immediately and sent a repair person but you did not inform me until the following day. I would have taken action if I had known, of course. I’ve never had that happen before and I’m so sorry! The TV is upstairs in the bedroom- did you not see it? And for the unclean pots, I will let the cleaner know this feedback. Thank you. -Hannah
We had a wedding within 20 minutes from this property and decided to do a VRBO for my wife, two children and their spouses versus the hotel thing. This home was exactly what we were looking for to relax, cook, grille and sit around an outdoor fire for laughter and fun. The home had a master bed with bath up along with a loft area with another bed, which which was not needed. The main level had 2 bedrooms and both were basically identical with a full bath in the main hallway. We took advantage of the wood stove in the main living area and that kept things warm throughout our stay. It was a cool weekend in November so we did not sit out on the exterior upper deck that overlooks natures offerings, but this would be a nice setting in warmer weather. We did sit around the outdoor firepit, which was a metal/steel unit versus a man made rock or block wall type. The kitchen was adequate for our purposes considering a quick 2 night visit. This property is certainly not going to meet many folks standards who are looking to be somewhat pampered and used to more finer, polished settings/surroundings. We do travel often as a family and would want and expect more upgrades in many setting too. But this was perfect for our family considering the location and lack of alternatives in the area. The area has little to no cell phone reception and that was a hinderance at times, but the WIFI worked well. Hannah, the owner, was very responsive prior and during our visit.
Great house in an unusually lovely place: herb and flower gardens, hummingbirds, good hiking trail from the backyard, 6 minutes to Ashfield Lake for swimming - watch for the bald eagle that flies over the lake - ice cream within walking distance, fresh corn…the place is just perfect.
I am a full time herbalist and wellness coach offering organic herbal products and hands on workshops. I love being outside in the woods, especially in the beautiful hill towns. I'm very grateful to have landed this sweet spot in Ashfield and can't wait to share it with you. Message me if you want to book any additional add-ons to your stay.
Why they chose this property
This property is quiet and rural making it the perfect getaway for couples and families. The area is filled with wonderful day trips, places to swim, local food and farms. Ashfield is a thriving small town with larger towns within 15-30 minutes.
What makes this property unique
Every inch of this home has been curated by the host with quality artwork, furnishings and house plants. The space is calming, relaxing and large enough for families. There is a farm store with eggs, ghee, maple syrup, honey, artwork and herbal products. If you come during the summer our neighbor next door has a farm stand loaded with fresh veggies. We love this home so much and hope you will, too!
Hannah, the home owner, operates a small herbal company, Sweet Birch Herbals on the ground level and there are many gardens outside. She will give you plenty of space during your stay, but please note that Sundays are when she teaches outdoor classes on the lawn from 9-4.
During the week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays) she is on site in the gardens and basement tending to her herbal company from 9-5 with her assistants.
Please do not enter her apothecary on the ground level unless you're invited with her.
Washer/dryer available by request for guests staying more than 3 nights. Contact your host to request access.
If you are bringing dogs, please do not leave them at the house without crating. If they tend to bark when left unattended in a new place, we'd prefer you take them with you as this can be really stressful for the dog and our office in the basement.
