This place was awesome and literally had everything we could possibly need for a comfortable stay. 7 of us stayed here for the weekend on a long golf trip and we'll definitely be back. Everything you could need is already here, and instructions are clearly marked everywhere. Great communication from a great host, and plenty to do inside if you get caught in bad weather.
When I first came across this property, it seemed too good to be true. Everything was perfect and it was well represented by the pictures. Our host was very gracious, checking in on us after we arrived and promptly responding to messages. The property is well stocked with all the essentials from a good variety of kitchen items, plenty of games and activities, down to make up towels in the bathrooms and luxurious bath bombs in the master. In addition, things are very well labelled and instructions for operation are all over making it very easy to follow and enjoy our stay. The host has definitely thought of everything. Very high tech - which did cause us a little trouble (google apparently doesn't love my diction/accent) but that was a minor glitch. The property is not far from "town" and we were able to enjoy fun places like Big Bear Mountain Brewery while there. It was a week of friends, fun, -laughter, nature, peace and relaxation. Highly recommend.
I'd like to start by saying this home is lovely and in a beautiful location. Future guests should be aware of certain things that were not apparent in the booking process as well as some shortcomings with the property. *Be aware that there is a per guest additional fee above a certain number, I believe in this case it is 4. We were a group of 13 and the house openly states it sleeps 15. This additional fee seemed excessive and unnecessary, especially given the cost of the nightly rate. Apparently it is stated in the "extra fees" as you book- just read carefully. I was told by the owner this is common VRBO practice; as an owner of a home that rents via VRBO, this is not common practice; especially with a home this size and at this price point.*The owner is very strict about check-in and check out times. This is an understandable condition, however we waited in the driveway for 25 minutes as the cleaning crew was there on arrival. When asked if we would be granted the same courtesy on check-out without a fine, it was stated that it would be done w/the expectation that we did not "trash" the house like the previous guests. I had received messages through the VRBO app as to what the house looked like from the previous guests which was unwarranted.
*If you go in the summer, be aware that there is NO A/C! The horseshoe game was broken (rod not secured in the ground) and darts were broken. Owner attempted to get darts but didn’t make it in time; overall disappointed in this stay.

Hi Corinna. I have 18 short term rental properties and have had more than 1,000 reviews across all amy accounts ... and the only reason I am successful is because I take the constructive and actionable criticism of my guests very seriously. That being said ... I don't know what my action items are from your review since they are all or mostly things that are fully disclosed.
- The price is displayed to the guests ... clearly identifying the per per costs above the base amount. Guest see the total price before they hit accept.
- We don't advertise Air Conditioning .. and most of my Big Bear counterparts don't have AC either. Again ... something you factor in BEFORE hitting accept.
- You're 25 minutes of waiting outside !!! That deserves a low rating? You didn't mention that I felt sorry and compensated your group with donuts and muffins as a kind gesture. We have to ensure the place is 100% clean and disinfected!
- The horseshoe game was broken? It's always pulled out by guests. This is a huge thing for you? One of a hundreds, literally, of other games and activities for you?
- The darts were not broken. You simply didn't assemble the elements of the darts correctly. There are 4 parts: the Tip, the barrel, the shaft and the flight. You just didn't put them together and that's on you. There are even instructions on the wall right next to the game.
- What aspect of the communication deserved a 2 star rating. You were sent all your check-in and out information well in advance and thoroughly. In addition, I was responsive to your many, many repeated gripes within minutes. Not a single one exceeded 5 minutes.
You review does not provide me with any actionable items. It's mostly just gripes about things you missed on your reservation acceptance or small things.
I don't know what to say about this guest and his rating. There is absolutely no description. Its a baseless low score review. It should be marked as irrelevant and removed but these systems are inflexible, wrong, and outdated. Just look at all my reviews from thoughtful ex-guests ... who by the way, are often returning guests!

Why they chose this property
Meadowbrook Estates is a newer, upscale development in the East Valley, located just west of State Hwy 38. Mostly level and heavily treed, the picturesque area offers a feel of “refined rural living” and boasts some of the finest homes in Big Bear.
Large parcels are the hallmark of Meadowbrook, with lots ranging from one to six acres, the majority being in the 1-1½ acre range.
Wide, paved and maintained streets meander past the gorgeous homes, and underground utilities afford an uncluttered streetscape. With homes set significantly back from the street, it offers a sense of privacy as well as enviably large “front yards” with beautiful pine trees.
There’s an eclectic mix of architectural styles in Meadowbrook, with log and log-sided designs predominating. Other styles include Tudor, Tuscan, “mountain contemporary,” upscale Cottage and Farmhouse. The large parcels allow many of the properties to have multi-car garages, separate workshops and outbuildings, and stables or kennels.
Even though the area offers a real “away from it all” feeling, it is minutes from the Big Bear City business district and Bear City Airport. Just a few miles more will find you in Big Bear Lake, with all the recreational and shopping attractions the Valley has to offer.
What makes this property unique
Guest will have access to the entire house (minus a few supply closets) as well as the massive back yard filled with wildlife and outdoor games.
The Front Door is Equipped with an Electronic Locking System which will provide you access through the duration of your stay. There are multiple key lock boxes in the event of issues with the Electronic Lock as well.
If you want to use the EV Charger ... there will be 24 hour access for $20 at a time. Just notify us when you are there and want to start your 24 hour charging via the messenger.
