Absolutely beautiful!

This property is beautiful and the location is great. We enjoyed the juke box, sitting on the back porch watching the wildlife, grilling, and sitting by the fire pit on the deck. Would love to stay here again! We loved Custer state park and the downtown area. We saw all the sights with minimal driving. Highly recommend!

Beautiful, Quiet location

We loved this peaceful location on a beautiful acreage with pretty views! The home had everything we could have wanted for a quiet get away. Loved warming up by the toasty pellet stove. 5 minutes from superb restaurants too.

Great place in the country to unwind

Beautiful house on a peaceful and isolated piece of property. Only about ten minutes from town and close to all the Black Hills area attractions. Very well appointed, all the conveniences, great gas fireplace, stunning views and so quiet. Perfect for winding down, getting awY or as a home base for area fun.

What a place!

This place is a rare great find with a nice log cabin and on a ton of land. It really is surrounded by a national forest. Fairly close to the monuments and State and National parks.

Private, Quiet, and Cozy cabin

Whitetail Springs Ranch is exactly as advertised. It sits off a gravel road in a quiet wooded area, but just a few miles from downtown Custer. We saw deer every day on the ranch. The pinball machine and jukebox were a hit with our family. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. We did have a couple issues (microwave wasn't working and WIFI was slow), but the owner was very quick to respond and both items were fixed promptly. You will not regret renting this property. It's perfectly located to everything the Black Hills has to offer.

Wonderful and Cozy!

Beautiful location, very accurate listing! The property manager was super communicative! We arrived late from our flight and it was dark and rainy, but the check in was SUPER easy! The property is quiet and a great place to relax after a long day of sightseeing!!

We can't say enough good things about our stay at Whitetail Springs Ranch. The location is private, quiet and beautiful. The house is comfortable, very attractive and has everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. It's exactly what we'd hoped for. We will definitely stay there again.

Beautiful Property and Great Location!

We stayed here in order to be centrally located to the many parks and monuments South Dakota has to offer. We immediately felt at home the minute we arrived. The property is gorgeous and we enjoyed dinners on the deck, as well as watching the thunderstorms roll by. The house was comfortable and clean, and checking in and out was a breeze. The best part was how centrally located we were to National Parks and Monuments, Custer State Park, and we even ventured up to Devils Tower. We definitely would stay here again!

Cozy Cabin

Great property for a family getaway! My husband and I and our 2 kids enjoyed taking a week to just relax with no obligations. We enjoyed the peacefulness of the property. Kids enjoyed playing outside in the snow and we enjoyed lounging by the fireplace. It was close enough to Custer to still go in for groceries or have a meal out. It makes small town living very appealing. It's a nice place to chill out and unwind from the crazy pace of life!

Spring Break Week

We took our granddaughters to the Black Hills for their spring break and rented this log cabin. What a nice place to use as home base for a week. It was comfortable, clean and entertaining. The pinball machine and jukebox were a good experience for the kids. We appreciated the grill on the deck making supper at the end of each day very easy. The setting is beautiful and we truly felt like we had a great vacation.

Beautiful and peaceful

This cabin is such a gem. You feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, and yet you are only a short drive from the many attractions in the area. While everything inside the cabin was very nice, we especially enjoyed our evenings out on the deck. You can just sit back, relax, and enjoy the sounds of nature. The yard in front is perfect for children to safely play and catch bugs. We had a wonderful stay here.

Relax, breath and settle in...

We loved this location!! Custer is a small, but growing city...this house is close, but secluded. Every morning we had a view of deer in the yard, wild turkeys and a beautiful view of this property! We ate most meals on the deck and loved the daily visits of the mountain bluebirds and northern flickers. Beautiful location to establish as home base for day trips to the monuments, Custer National Park and other activities that include hot air ballooning, helicopter tours, horseback riding, atvs...almost anything you can think of!

STINKY SHEETS - Excellent Place- Pin Ball Wizard FUN!

What a magical special place. So convenient to Custer. The Pin Ball machine was such an awesome touch. The juke box was fun too. *There is no reason using HEAVY Perfume for laundry or cleaning. It does not make it a pleasant experience for many people. We all do not like the over the top perfume smell.

FANTASTIC!

More than we expected. The location is great. Only about 1.5 miles from Custer. The property is very secluded and private. Deer came right up to the house to eat. The managers stopped by making sure everything was ok and to drop off bottled water in case we didn't care for the well water. Very friendly. The house is decorated beautifully and spacious. Highly recommend.

Great location for visiting the Black Hills

This log cabin home is on a beautiful private property but only minutes from Custer State park and the town of Custer. The town has plenty of shops and restaurants and the state park and Black Hills are magnificent. The best features of this property are the location, privacy, the great porch. Shane the host was friendly and responsive and helped us out with a request. The beds, bathrooms and appliances were clean and the kitchen was well stocked. The cabin looks exactly as pictured on the website. There were a couple of very minor details that could use some attention and I feel the house overall could benefit from a thorough deep cleaning. But we really enjoyed our stay there.

Loved the 20 acre property and lovely deck

We had three couples and two of the bedroom options were really good but the third did not work for a 6 foot plus man and his wife. So they moved a mattress to the front sitting room and he slept there, which worked well but was not ideal. Otherwise, we loved the large sunny deck, lovely 20 acre property and had lots of fun with the jukebox.

As good as it gets!

My wife, son and I stayed here four days and nights in September 2010 and will likely return again this year. All those nice things people have said about Jodi and her hospitality are quite true (how did she know to leave a bottle of Cabernet on the counter?). We had a small number of family and friends come for visits, and all agreed that the place was absolutely gorgeous, relaxing and stimulating all at the same time. We drive from Ohio each year to maintain family ties (my wife and three children were all born in the area), and our stay at this mountain home is an outstanding memory of the kind we'd like to make more of. Thank you, Jodi! Keep the light on for us.

2/10 Terrible

Water Was Not Drinkable

This house is just okay. It is advertised as almost new, but it is more than likely about 15 years old. Now the big problem is with the water. The well do not function property, have dirt, mica, and who know what else. The owner is not honest about this, or we would have never rented. This has been reported to the State of South Dakota water quality, and until she gets the water fixed no one should be renting this house.

We’ve been together since 2013 and tied the knot in scenic Spearfish Park. Kia is local – sort of. She’s from Philip, South Dakota, near the Badlands, and her parents have hand-painted the Wall Drug signs since 1991. Shane grew up on the other side of the state on a farm near Tulare, South Dakota. We actually met on a school trip to Washington, DC, so traveling has always been close to our hearts! In our free time, we love hiking, kayaking, basically anything outdoors, and traveling to new places. Come visit us and we’ll show you some of our favorite Black Hills destinations!

Why they chose this property

With 17 private acres and no neighbors in sight, this 2100 sqft cabin provides the ultimate peaceful retreat.
