Absolutely love the area that this little gem is situated. Walking distance to great foods and activities. Very comfortable beds, couches and surroundings. I will definitely book again. And you should try it out!!You wont be disappointed

The cottage was located perfectly for us, positioned near the esplanade shops, Capitola beaches and river walk. Our host provided clear instructions for check-in before we needed them and was responsive throughout our stay. The color scheme and décor felt very beachy, lending to a get-away vibe. BBQ, well-equipped kitchen and full size fridge made meals easy and comfortable. Great to be able to have our dog with us. We’ll return for sure.

We love the Begonia Cottage! The location is great and it’s very comfortable. We also really appreciated the small touches- nice towels, Kleenex (a lot of places don’t supply them), coffee, and even plastic wrap and tin foil, etc. It was like a home away from home!

Great Location and Comfortable space

We enjoyed our time at the property. The location is so convenient and allowed for our teens to spend time in town on their own without us having to take them placed. We found the trail along the river to work well to take the dogs out since the back patio is completely fenced in and secure. We really enjoyed our time at the cottage

Amazing

Perfect little cottage downtown. Beds were so comfortable. Bunks are full size so plenty of room. Very clean and comfortable. Location is amazing literally 1 minute walk to the beach and shops.

Perfect location

We planned a last minute trip to Capitola for spring break and were happy to be right in the middle of Capitola in this Begonia Beach Cottage. The cottage is small, but worked well for the 4 of us. My only complaint is the smell of dog urine.

We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay! An inspection was done before your arrival and we did not smell any pet urine. It is a 100 year old beach cottage near the ocean, that could have been the issue.

Perfect location

Weekend trip with my husband and this cute home had everything we needed for our stay. We would stay again. Appreciated location and walkability. The home was comfortable and equipped for cooking. Host was responsive. The shower was extremely small for my husband. Our stay was short so it was fine.

Perfect spot to enjoy Capitola

We spent a long weekend here with our two kids, who as usual, were mostly thrilled to sleep in the bunk beds. The cottage was super clean and had everything we needed, from kitchen supplies to beach chairs and board games. The beds were comfy with super clean linens and lots of cozy throw blankets. We don’t live too far away but enjoyed being able to easily walk to the beach and enjoy the shops and restaurants without having to battle for parking. We’d definitely stay again!

We had a really nice time. The host reached out the day after arrival to make sure things were satisfactory. We appreciated that. The house had everything it needed for a nice stay. The house is older built in 1930 so has that rustic smell to it. That did not bother us as my first house with my husband was built in the 1930s so I am use to that. The bedding was comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. The best part of the house is that it’s walking distance to wonderful restaurants and the beach. Thank you to the host for having us. We would definitely come back.

Perfect location!

This place was exactly what we needed. We had a week between moving houses and we thought a beach trip would be a perfect vacation. The check-in process was absolutely seamless. The host communicated everything that we needed and the house was exactly as advertised. We walked every day to downtown. You could even see the ice cream store from the front porch. When we take our next beach vacation, it will be solely based on the availability of this house. It was great!

Such a lovely stay!

We loved our 4 night stay at Begonia beach cottage. Seamless communication and check in. The cottage is situated in the best little neighborhood and we liked having so many great restaurants in walking distance. Comfortable accommodations with enough space for our family of 4. The bathroom is smaller and the shower was a bit high pressure, but didn’t bother us. We also took our 11 year old dog with us and enjoyed taking him out in the picturesque neighborhood. We were typically able to find parking right in front, but could see it taking more time when the weather is warmer. This was a great spot for exploring the coast from Santa Cruz to Monterey, Carmel, Big Sur. Would definitely recommend and hope to be back!

Excellent location.

Excellent location. The house is small, but super close to downtown and the beach. Everything was clean and the host was extremely helpful. My daughter raved about how comfortable her bed was. I would stay here again, except the shower was awful. My daughter and I had to stand on our tippy toes and it was spraying us in the face. So I waited until I got home to shower (luckily we were only there for a couple of nights!) if the shower were fixed, I would stay again. Otherwise probably not. So please fix it so we can stay again!!

Overall, the property worked well for us. Great location, walk to restaurants, etc. The kitchen is recently remodeled and well equipped. The place is nicely decorated and has a good vibe. A couple minor issues: the recliner was really stained - we ended up just covering it with an extra bedspread, since it grossed us out. The floor in the main bedroom slopes dramatically in one corner, which makes one corner of the bed dip, so that your feet are higher than your head, which is a weird sleeping position. Lastly, the shower is super tiny so I could not bend at all. I’m 6’3” Also the shower valve leaked pretty badly.

We really enjoyed our stay in this charming cottage and loved being able to bring our little 10-pound dog. The location was great, with the beach, shops, and restaurants all within easy walking distance. The cottage was beautifully furnished and decorated, and the bed was very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed, although we didn’t do much cooking.Parking was a little tricky, but having the pass was helpful once we found a good spot. We especially enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the evening and watching people walk by. A lovely place to spend a few days!

Our family stayed here for 2 weeks. The cottage is cute and the location is excellent. Check in was easy and the Wi-Fi was pretty good. Unfortunately, we had quite a few issues during our stay. The place needs an update and a deep cleaning. Dishes in the cabinets were dirty and though it looked like main surfaces were wiped, it just didn't feel clean. The grill and coffee maker were super dirty. It was hard to feel comfortable with our kids using things in the house until we cleaned it ourselves. The dishwasher wasn't effective and the washing machine had a lot of issues - not effective and kept getting stuck. The freezer handle was broken. The bathroom towel rack was missing/broken. Despite a 2 week stay, we were left with one roll of toilet paper, one roll of paper towels, and no cleaning supplies. We tried to contact the management company a few times and didn't hear back. The one time we talked to someone they said they'd bring toilet paper by "in a little bit." They never came. I don't think we'd rent another property managed by Surf City. If the cottage is owned by someone else, I would recommend they consider a different property manager.

We checked the VRBO message thread and there were no messages from you requesting our assistance with the items that you mentioned in your review. As a professional property management company we respond quickly to any issues reported by guests. A couple of data points left out of your review: 1) House is professionally cleaned between each guest. 2) Dishwasher worked perfectly the day of your arrival and the day of your departure. Sounds like user error to me. 3) you were provided with one roll of TP that was set out, and three backup rolls in cabinet. 4)we had a hard time getting you to move along at checkout, but you eventually left after my cleaners came back a second time, and we had to call you. 5) upon (finally) entering the unit, my cleaners texted me aghast at the distressing state the home was left in.
