About this property
Relax at Comfortable Lakeside Camp in Northern Vermont
Enjoy a quiet week or more on beautiful Peacham Pond in northern Vermont! This summer-early fall lakeside camp offers almost all of the comforts of home in a beautiful and peaceful setting. The property comes with a canoe, as well as a shared dock where you can tie up your small motor or sailboat. A public boat launch is located across the pond. Swimming is ideal in this clean, milfoil-free lake. Watch the loons, kingfishers and great blue herons as you canoe or kayak the quiet waters. The pond is adjacent to the 25,000 acre Groton State Forest offering many miles of hiking and biking on logging roads, snowmobile trails and a new rail-to-trail. Peacham Pond is home to at least 3 pairs of Common Loons, most of which produce one or two chicks each season. Mid to late September features the fall foliage season, not to be missed.
Inside, the light and airy camp has Vermont native pine floors and walls. A complete and well-equipped kitchen will enhance your stay. Two comfortable recliners and a couch flank the wood-burning fireplace in the living room. The living room and dining area face the lake. A sliding glass door opens onto a large deck, the perfect spot to watch those spectacular sunsets. A screened porch is located adjacent to the living room. A bedroom with a queen bed and a full bathroom are also located on the first floor, as are the washer and dryer. The upstairs has two small bedrooms with a total of 5 built-in single beds and a half bath (located in one of the bedrooms).
Numerous day trips can enhance your stay including the Cabot Creamery, makers of the World's best cheddar located in the nearby village of Cabot. The Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium, Maple Grove Museum, and the Athenaeum Library & Art Gallery are located in St. Johnsbury, approximately a 30 minute drive. Ben and Jerry’s factory is located in Waterbury (45 minutes) along with several other tourist destinations enroute to Stowe and the Trapp Family Lodge. Burlington is just over an hour away and offers beautiful boutique style shops and exquisite dining on the shores of Lake Champlain. Golf at the lovely St. Johnsbury Country Club, as well as at other small golf courses in the area.
We are just 3 hours from Hartford, CT, 3 hours from Boston, 3 hours from Portland, ME, 4 hours from Albany, and 5 hours from New York City.

Why they chose this property
Our parents built this camp as a summer cottage when Dad retired in the late ‘60s. Over some 50 years five generations have enjoyed many weeks each season swimming, hiking, biking, playing games at the dining room table, eating great food, and watching innumerable sunsets in this beautiful spot. The camp is open from June through September, with family members occupying most of those weeks. We do enjoy enabling others to enjoy the place when no family is there.
This is a vacation home for couples and small families who enjoy peace and quiet, love the outdoors, and don’t need constant access to shopping malls, and fast-food restaurants. We do have internet access, receive only a few TV stations, and have very spotty cell phone service. So if this sounds like your kind of vacation, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we would welcome your considering spending a week on beautiful Peacham Pond!
