The Space:
Our family-friendly cabin is the perfect getaway for a family reunion, group retreat or friends weekend. Beyond the cabin itself, you’ll have access to some of the amenities in the Coolfont cabin community, including: Tennis, Basketball, Tot Lot, Private Hiking Trails that head right into the mountains of the Cacapon State Park.

The cabin includes:
- Your own private outdoor hot tub!
- 5 bedrooms
Bedroom 1 - Queen Bed
Bedrooms 2-5 - Twin over Queen Bunk Beds (each bunk sleeps 3)
- 5 full bathrooms
4 private en-suite full baths
1 semi-private en-suite full bath with a steam shower (a lot like a sauna!)
- A huge deck surrounded by trees, with a propane grill
- Screened in porch, perfect for enjoying your morning coffee or hanging with the little ones
- Large, fully-stocked kitchen with a dishwasher, stove, & microwave
- Central AC and heat
- Washer and dryer
- Fast WiFi that's good enough to stream movies and hold video calls
- Wood-burning fireplace to keep you cozy at night

Beyond the cabin itself, you’ll have access to all the amenities in the Coolfont cabin community, including:
- Tennis and basketball courts
- Rec field and “tot lot”
- Private hiking trails that head right into the mountains of the Cacapon State Park

We often take our three little kids and dog to the cabin with us, so we're very family- and dog-friendly. Unfortunately we don't allow cats (we're allergic).

Note: Woodland Escape has 5 bedrooms (with 9 beds) and will easily sleep 13 people. If you have a larger group including young children, please message us and we can likely accommodate you at this property, or another one nearby.

And we love how close to everything we are -- particularly all the restaurants and shops in Berkeley Springs. You’re less than a 10 minute drive from downtown -- with Berkeley Springs Brewing Company less than 5 minutes away!

Lovely cabin with a breathtaking view

We regularly stay in the Coolfont Mountainside community, but this was our first time in this cabin. It was clean, spacious, and well-furnished. The kitchen had all we needed. We loved the view from the front deck and spent most of our time out there when we weren't out and about. The hot tub felt great after a day of exploring. Check-in and Check-out were smooth and easy. Tony is a great host who answered all of our questions and responded to texts in a jiffy. We'll definitely book again!

The property offered EXACTLY what we wanted - a BR and a B-R for each couple. There were ample towels. We ALL said we enjoyed our stay - but some suggestion to keep the property as expected.The house is dated - window cranks were missing - no light over stove or in oven, nail pops on deck we up 1/4 inch and we learned MUST WEAR SHOES, house offers room for 12 - w/a 2 burner toasted that only had 2 working elements, no cleaning product's (windex) to maintain stove top, ice maker not working, burnt out lights...basically a handyperson is need to just keep functional.

I sent this feedback to the host privately with no intention on posting online. They responded graciously. Then they charged my card for over a 100 randomly weeks after our trip with no communication or explanation. Only after being questioned about the charge was I offered "an invoice", but still no explanation. 1. When we arrived, all the doors were unlocked, 2 were simply left wide open, and the lock box was open with no key. We later found the key in one of the open doors. This was pretty unsettling.2. The amount of dead bugs around the house was pretty gross. We're not clean freaks but I had 5 in plain sight on the floor in my bathroom alone. It was clear the house cleaners did not do much of anything aside from change sheets.3. The only showers that worked well enough to actually use were on the basement level and only if no other water in the house was being used at all. This was very disappointing for a group trip. Water also didn't drain. (The photos below are just one bathroom)4. It was pretty frustrating to be offered twice about adding entire days onto the trip yet not being able to check in early/late to accommodate house cleaners who didn't clean.

Majestic Views

A beautiful view from the balcony. Our teen kids and aunt loved this location. It was perfect for a quiet get away. The only negative was slow internet but it was good to get kids off their devices. We hope to rerun again.

We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and Woodland Escape in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
