Peaceful retreat

The private setting was idyllic for this 18th century farm house. The rolling hills, woodlands, and landscaping, plus the yellow cow who kept watch over us, made for a fairytale weekend. The house was beautifully restored, with amenities added that did not detract from the historical appeal. Edwina had everything that we needed to make our stay lovely, right down to a plate of delicious homemade cookies on our arrival. I hope to come back and stay here in the future, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique place to vacation.

Maple Lane Farm

Everything about our stay in the house on Maple Lane Farm was excellent. Using this beautiful home and property as a "base of operations" for our first vacation in Lancaster County helped make it a memorable one. Thanks Edwina!

Timeless Beauty!

We had the most wonderful stay! Maple lane is so lovely! Starting with the tree lined driveway…Everything you need is supplied. It’s a cozy delightful walk back in time! From our morning walks…having coffee on the porch rocking chairs… watching bunnies…to the fireflies (lighting bug) in the evenings. Can’t wait to come back!! Thank you Edwina you are the perfect host!! 💕💕

Beautiful and Relaxing Farmhouse

My wife, 1yr old daughter, and I spent a weekend at Maple Lane and had a wonderful time there. The old farmhouse has been beautifully restored and kept (there’s a photo album with the restoration details), the acreage is well maintained and clean, and the cows on the hill out the window always seem to be a little curious. Edwina was an excellent host as well. She contacted us a bit before checkin and checkout to make sure we knew what to do, and I have no doubt she would have been readily available in the off chance we needed something she hadn’t already take taken care of. My family was extremely happy with our stay and we are hoping to return next fall to finish exploring!

Cozy farmhouse

Our stay was fantastic! The pictures are wonderful, but in person this farm house was even better than we could have imagined!!! Also, Edwina was a joy to rent from! Her quick communication to welcome us to her home , fresh baked cookies on the counter and a light on when we arrived late at night and her sweet check in messages through our stay truly set this experience apart! We came for a three day Amish country vacation and this home was in a great area that was only about 25-30 minutes from all our activities: kettle village, Gracie's on main, bird in hand, sight and sound theater! The farmhouse was a great retreat where we began the day on the porch with coffee in hand and we looked forward to returning back each evening! I loved the secluded feeling of the home with great front and back porch areas to sit and enjoy the scenery and birds. My family enjoyed the cozy feel of the home, attention to details in the remodeling, the soft beds and beautiful yard to run around in! If you're looking for a sweet spot to stay and get the country living experience while visiting the area, this is the place for you!

Maple Lane is exactly as listed -- a lovely setting, especially in the Fall. The house is located well off the highway, accessed by a tree-lined driveway. There is a small forest behind the house and ample grassy play areas around the house. The house itself is well-equipped and met the needs of the 6 of us (3 adults, 3 children under 12) more than adequately. The kitchen has everything needed to prepare and serve simple meals. There is no dishwasher in the house, which was not a problem at all for us. The powder room downstairs and main bath upstairs were most convenient. The house retains all the charm of one built in 1750, with original (?) wood floors that creak here and there. We are in our 70's and quite fit, so the stairs (also reflective of 1750's construction) did not deter us as long as we were careful. However, they would defiintiely challenge mobility-impaird guests. There's plenty to do in the area. We visited the Safe Harbor Trestle Bridge, Lancaster Science Factory, picked apples and pumpkins at Cherry Hill Orchards, and enjoyed ice cream and petting baby calves at Pine View Dairy. All these and more are within a short driving distance from the house.A final word about Edwina, the hostess. She could not have been nicer to us. Not only did she welcome us with homemade cookies, she was in constant contact with us before and during our stay to ensure we had an enjoyable time. A 5-star hostess for sure!Stay at Maple Lane -- a lovely historic home!

4 Nights Is Not Enough

The property managers were very polite and attentive, and carry a small basket with additional pamphlets for more ideas for travel in case you're itching to go out more! But, the house itself meets the perfect blend of modernization while still keeping it's original comfortable decor! Me and my girlfriend spent 4 days here, but you need to spend more to get the fullest joys of this beautiful property as well the enjoying the Lancaster area itself! I felt we had only scratched the surface! The only draw back I'll mention is that you may want to bring some type of converter with you in case you may bring an older generation console like we did (I took the Wii because of this year's heatwave), but i couldn't find any RGA inputs for it! Regardless, that's hardly detractor in comparison to the breathtaking views by the rivers, the rolling hills of Conestoga, the hiking trails both on the property and by the park nearby, and on the property alone being tucking comfortable in the hills as well! Definitely a must stay, and we're crossing our fingers to stop by again this winter or next spring!

Charming and comfortable in a beautiful setting

A beautifully restored historic home that has all the practical and homey touches to make it comfortable and convenient. We enjoyed a four night stay and it was a great base from which to visit neighbouring communities. It is off the beaten track (but easy to find) and we enjoyed driving on the well maintained, winding roads through picturesque countryside. It was also a peaceful spot to return to and just hang out on the back deck, reading and listening to the birds. We were just two and it was spacious and comfortable - but certainly lots of space for a bigger group. Host was easy to contact / accessible, but there was nothing that needed attention during our stay. Highly recommended.

A perfect retreat

We loved our time at Maple Lane. Our kids couldn't wait to explore the property from the moment we pulled into the tree-lined driveway. We were only in the Lancaster area for two nights and had planned to go into town, but the setting of the home was so peaceful, we opted to stay in for the first evening. We loved sitting out on the back patio listening to the chorus of birds in the woods behind the house and watching the cattle roam by up the hill. The weather was warm enough that the kids were able to catch fireflies on the back lawn after roaming the trails on the property. The home itself is beautifully restored, immaculate, and comfortable. Edwina is such a gracious host. She was quick to respond to our questions and she left delicious cookies for us to enjoy. Take the time to look through the photo book of the restoration of the home, and you will have an idea of how much care went into the property. Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer. For those with kids who like to explore, look for the faces in the trees around the property. We managed to find 5 of the 9. Thank you for sharing your home, Edwina and Don!
