Wonderful stay

Nicely remodeled/decorated house with a well-stocked kitchen and laundry room. The location is within walking distance to the ocean. Check in was incredibly easy. Neighbors were a little noisy at night. We would definitely stay again!

Everything with the stay was as expected. A very quiet neighborhood is exactly what we desired and the space delivered. The home is walking distance to town and the beach but far enough away to escape the noise of the tourists. Our host was attentive and answered all of our questions. I would stay here again.. that's the ultimate endorsement.

Family get together

Such a great place to come together as a family from Australia and Europe. We attended a wedding at Botanica so perfect for that. The house was amazing and the outdoor space was used to the full. We really felt it was a ‘home from home’ Thanks so much for sharing your home with us The Brewer family

Amazing spot for my wedding weekend!

This beautiful home was the perfect venue for my wedding weekend. Every detail was admired and this place is just stunning! We had a very small church wedding and hosted a hibachi dinner reception in the backyard (with the hosts permission) and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect spot. The hosts went above and beyond - even before my actual stay! Thank you so much and I can’t wait to come back!

Beautiful Home in a Beautiful Neighborhood!

Our stay was so great, I’d highly recommend this home! Everything was just as lovely as it appeared in the photos, and the yard was bigger than we expected. Check in/out was super easy, and the host was super communicative and friendly. Cafes, restaurants, and more all within walking distance. This place was even stocked with spare toiletries, I was very pleasantly surprised to find a full box of tampons under the sink when I ran out! Overall a great experience in a very cool home.

Oasis

This spot was an oasis. We enjoyed days in the sun on the comfy porch swing and evenings watching our favorite shows through the Roku enabled television. Although we are movie watchers, we could have an enjoyed a fire in the backyard!The kitchen was well stocked with great appliances and cookware! The beds were cozy with soft linens. The bathrooms offered all the amenities of home. Thank you for a lovely experience!

Take a break Get-Away!

We arrived less an hour early and found that the property was ready as we check-in ! It was a lovely house, spacious, clean and refreshing feeling. So nice to just rest and relax and since we were only 4 ladies, we had enough space between us! The backyard was huge for outside BBQ and gathering. The gourmet kitchen was so ready in preparing a sumptuous meals with kitchen wares and utensils. It was beautifully managed and kept well for "Staycationers" like us. About 10-15 mins walk to Ocenside beach and nice and quiet neighborhood. Will definitely consider to stay here next time we are visiting Ocenside/Carlsbad area. Thank you :))

Lovely Oceanside Home

We stayed there for a week after attending my daughter’s graduation from UCLA. It was a beautifully redone home and was relaxing and spacious for my husband and I and our two adult children. The backyard was magnificent, as were the mid century modern furnishings and decor. It was great to have a laundry room and the hosts thought of every amenity you’d need. I enjoyed the upstairs patio with ocean views and a cushy porch swing for relaxing, along with a table and chairs for morning tea. Our only issue was that the previous guests had their daughter over to visit with her dog. We specifically booked a pet-free home because of my son’s severe dog allergies. And he immediately had an allergy attack when he sat on the upstairs sofa. The hosts were very responsive and scheduled a pet cleaning for the next day. It did not really help, as that night when he sat on the other sofa upstairs he had an equally adverse reaction. He was fairly miserable throughout our stay. So that was unfortunate. I highly recommend this property otherwise. You won’t be disappointed.

Hi, I'm Sammie! The property manager and designer of The West House. Originally from the Indiana, I moved to California 8 years ago looking to escape those harsh winters! My parents, still living in the Midwest, were looking for a more permanent spot to stay while visiting...and, "voila", the West House was born! It was alway a dream of mine to renovate a house, so I quickly jumped on the opportunity to transform this house into what you see today.

Why they chose this property

The West House was originally built in the early 1970's. It's one of several historic streets in Oceanside. As you drive in, you'll notice West Street lined with antique lamp posts, and those iconic palm trees! Oceanside's style remains and ode to old California. As you drive around, you'll notice many antique cars cruising down the 101, vintage clothing shops, and many historic retail landmarks that have been preserved from the 60's and 70's. The design goal for the West House was to compliment Oceanside's retro, laid-back aesthetic. Many pieces of our furniture are original vintage from the 70's or found at local antique shops!
