About Tucson
----------------------
Guest ranches, horseback rides, and cattle drives recall Old West roots, but you’ll also find yourself smack-dab in a hub of spas, resort hotels, and championship golf courses...not to mention amazing, trend-setting restaurants. Tucson was the first city to earn the designation of a World City of Gastronomy by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Plus, with a thriving visual and performing arts scene and respected galleries and museums, Tucson’s vibrant multicultural heritage shines.

Famous for its dramatic beauty, the Sonoran Desert covers this region with spectacular cacti – including the giant saguaro, a symbol of the American Southwest. But don’t be fooled by the term “desert” because mountain ranges in all directions offer scenic drives and even snow skiing. In the winter you can go for a hike in the valley, then drive up to Mt. Lemmon and enjoy the slopes. Tucson’s legendary year-round sunshine and saguaro-and-sunset landscape have romanced visitors for decades. Tucson's coldest month is January when the average temperature overnight is 38.9°F. In June, the warmest month, the average day time temperature rises to 100.2°F.

If you are visiting Tucson, it's a great time to consider a jaunt across the Arizona border into Nogales, Sonora, Mexico and get a taste of the charm and traditions of Old Mexico. Nogales is only about 60 miles south of Tucson on Interstate 19.

Once you immerse yourself in the laid-back atmosphere of Tucson, you may never want to leave.

Great Neighborhood. Needs attention.
Overall, I liked staying here. The neighborhood is great and the feel of the place is cozy. There are some things to know before you go, though. There is only a thin wall between you and unit #520. I could clearly hear every detail of conversations next door. The armoire and bath vanity are home-made from particle board. Functional, but odd. The coffee table is fashioned from unfinished steel and wood. Lots of sharp edges on that thing, so be careful. The back yard is not maintained. Beans, weeds, thorny tree growing into grill, fire pit bricks collapsed, sun tarp collapsed, etc. During my stay, someone in 520 next door left a child's car seat sitting out in the yard. I notified the owners, but it was still sitting there when I left a week later. When I arrived, the TV had visible damage in the form of melted plastic and wires hanging out the bottom. There was also no microwave. The chairs outside had disintegrated in the sun and weren't serviceable. They replaced the TV pretty quickly. The microwave they brought was ancient and it looked like it had just come from someones dirty kitchen. Food was splattered inside and outside. Very gross. I sent pics and they cleaned it. There was no dish or laundry soap or kitchen trash bags. I bought soap and asked for bags. They left me one kitchen trash bag. for my two week stay. I thought that was petty. The rest of the time I was just stretching the tiny bathroom trash bags over the top of the kitchen trash can

Beautiful Space - Jewel Location
Walking around the area, you realize it's someplace special. Saw several photographers using the neighborhood for their backdrop for wedding photos and portraits. The neighbors in the area are friendly. The place itself has tons of character with high, wood ceiling giving great natural light through two skylights. The grill and washing machine out back make it easy to eat well and keep up with a little laundry for longer stays like mine. No real need to drive once you're here. All the great downtown destinations are walk-able. My favorite spots are literally in the neighborhood and only two blocks away. Fun, quiet place!
