The cottage was perfect for a couple. It's of course clean but beautifully furnished and decorated with artistic features that make it a joy. It's close to Mathews' main street and restaurants but not too close.
We love staying here and keep coming back. So comfy and relaxing with the perfect front porch, hot tub, fire pit and a short walk to Main Street. Great restaurants/ bars, cute shops and Will and Emily are amazing hosts.
Such a calming atmosphere, super clean, nice to take an evening walk downtown! Loved Gaven beach nearby as well as easy drives to Yorktown and Williamsburg!
This cottage is absolutely gorgeous and the owners thought of everything. Every little detail is perfect! Emily is super sweet. The town is cute and it’s a great place to relax!
A lovely cottage with everything we needed to be comfortable for a short get away.
A good location for antiques shopping and small local museums.
Excellent bed and linens.
We will recommend.
This cottage is so amazing! We didn't have to drive anywhere except the beach and enjoyed walking around the little town of Mathews. The farmers market and bookstore on Saturday was an extra treat!
The cleanliness and decor of the cottage was perfection and it felt like home for the weekend. Perfect quiet spot for a slow weekend away!
The cottage is as advertised, and maybe more. We enjoyed our stay immensely. The cottage is beautifully decorated down to the last detail. The home is clean and neat from front to back. The location is fantastic with many things to do within walking distance. The hosts are super and responsive. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway you should consider booking here today
Beautiful little cottage right off Main Street in quaint, lively, very walkable Matthews with good restaurants. Hosts have anticipated all needs down to personal as well as tasty treat flourishes. Make sure to go at least on Friday to be there for the Saturday farmers market.
From the moment we stepped into the cottage, we felt at home. Every little attention to detail was nothing short of perfection!
I was also comforted to know my family knew this family. There is nothing like a small town.
I will definitely return!
My wife and I have done a getaway every year for our wedding anniversary. This makes 22 years. Sugartoad Cottage immediately has vaulted to our top three locations! The accommodations are not only gorgeous and clean, but Will and Emily’s attention to every detail is amazing! We would have extended our stay as soon as we walked in the door, but someone had already booked behind us!
This adorable charming cottage was such a great place to stay. It exceeded our expectations. The flowers and greenery made it seem like you were in a tropical oasis. The place was so cozy and was perfect for the two of us. The front porch rockers were great for enjoying our morning coffee. The back deck was nice to sit and relax. The hot tub was in and not yet ready but is going to be a great addition. Emily & Will have made this place so enjoyable. I highly recommend..
This cottage was so adorable. I felt welcome as soon as i parked. Entering the home was like a breath of fresh air. Plants everywhere made it feel like home. The furnishings and decor were over the top making it feel so inviting. The outside was just as wonderful with a picnic table and hot tub and a very unique drop down bar area. Personal touches were everywhere, Water by the bedside, fresh water in the fridge along with milk for coffee. Fresh baked macaroons too! Everything you need for a comfortable stay. And all within easy walking distance to main street shops and restaurants. I fell in love with the Sugartoad Cottage and look forward to a return visit. Thanks Emily and Will!
