Beautiful waterfront views
We enjoyed our stay. Home had everything we needed. There is no washer/dryer but plenty of laundromats in town. Owner was helpful and very responsive with any questions we had. Kayaks are available to rent for the week (we had one delivered to the house). We took several trips to Acadia to hike and also visited Bar Harbor.
Beautiful waterfront house, with a distant view of Acadia Nation Park.
This was a wonderful house for a family. You can see Acadia National Park off in the distance on a clear day. Great porch with plenty of room for the whole family eat or just to enjoy the waterfront and views.
This house is 45 minutes from Bar Harbor/Acadia. I loved the quietness and didn’t mind the drive but there was a lot of traffic. The layout was different and it would not be good with little kids if you wanted to be in the same part of the house. The house is very dark and it is hard to see at night. The house was very clean. The queen size bed was very uncomfortable and needs to be upgraded. The pots and pans are very old. I would have like to have a nicer set to work with. Note that there is no ac..It was 90 degrees when we were there. I was hot. I was okay with it but if you are a hot box, that would have not been good. I would have liked to have access to a washer as well. The view outback was worth a million dollars. I loved sitting outside and relaxing on the deck. Bring your binoculars to watch the wildlife.

Cottage not.
This cottage had nice views from the backside of the property. However, the cottage itself had something to be desired because it was separated into two units. When going to sleep at night if you slept in the back unit where the two queen beds were you had to lock the front unit out the front door and go into to the back units front door and lock it up because the back door on the front unit did not have a key lock. The beds were not comfortable and there was barely any linens in the house so bring your own. Never could get the Wi-Fi to work. We were just luckily we had our smart phones to use the Internet because our laptops were useless. We had a wonderful time in Maine, but this cottage was way overpriced. I could've stayed in a hotel, saved money, been more comfortable, and seen as many pretty views. One good thing about the cabin it was quiet and serene on the back porch, and there wasn't a lot of traffic around the cottage to make too much noise.

Falling short
Two out of three beds were very uncomfortable. The kitchen had no empty cupboards for the food and staples we brought. Pots we used had to be scrubbed first. Coffee pot was not cleaned out. Somewhat musty smelling. The view was beautiful as the porches overlooked the bay. Upon arrival there were car tracks down the lawn closer to the front door so we unhooked the chain and drove down. One of our family members was still healing from an injured back so getting closer to the door was helpful to unload. However, when we came back after an outing the chain across was padlocked on both sides so we could not get closer to the door. It would have been nice to get a notice ahead of time that they were going to do that. We never heard a thing. Lugging all our things back up to the parking area was a lot.
From the front i thought i was at the wrong place. The back view is beautiful though. The house was clean except there was animal hair all over the couch. It said no pets so that was a big turn-off. The front part of the house had a smell. Not a good one. I couldn't place the smell but it was very off-putting. Lighting in most rooms was by lamp, not ceiling fixtures. Several smoke detector were beeping from low battery so we had to deal with that right when we arived. The set up is very odd. There are essentially two houses put together. The "back house" you access only by the going out the back door and walking on the deck to the other side. Fyi, the "back house" didn't smell so that's where we stayed. You cant lock the " back house" when you leave though or you cant get back in. The bed in the bedroom needs to be replaced as you slide to the center. I was very disappointed with the house. I feel like i paid a lot of money, too much money, to stay there and we would have been more comfortable and saved money to stay in a hotel. With all of the negative, I am adding that I loved sitting on the back porch in the mornings watching the seagulls.
Cute Rustic Cabin with Beautiful views located in a quiet neighborhood. Close to many attractions
We enjoyed our stay on this property. The Dining plates and bowls could use some updating. Including drinking glasses several of kitchenware had chips in them. Bath tub drain was very slow
We could not have asked for a better location and view of the ocean. The area was quiet and peaceful. The house had all the essentials. Sort of a different layout in that to cross from one part of the house to the other we had to pass through an outside deck. Good communication from the owner.

Rita’s Cottage
We had a wonderful time in Maine. Rita’s Cottage has a beautiful view of the water and was very peaceful. The drive to Acadia was not bad. The beds were very comfortable. I would recommend this property to anyone traveling to Maine for vacation.
Perfect view of the mountains- very remote and quiet location. We loved watching the wildlife from the porch- and even saw seals fishing directly in front of the property. The road was quiet- very little traffic, quiet neighbors. No problems with the cottage itself. We have adult and teenaged kids- so no problems with the beach access as it is very steep.
Great little cottage away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor and Acadia. Beautiful views in a very quiet and secluded neighborhood. Loved the nearby town of Ellsworth as well. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a quiet, simple, cozy and no-fuss cottage
We had a wonderful time. The place was beautiful. we plan to return again. We have two adult sons with physical limitations, so access to the beach was difficult. Many properties had stairs leading down to the beach, which would have made things much easier. There is no washer/dryer, so we had to make a trip to the laundromat. We are from a rural area so we are used to traveling for groceries or activities, there really is nothing near by. We totally enjoyed the place and will definately return.
There are great views of the bay, right on the water, close to BarHarbor and National Park, restaurants, kid-friendly with secure gates, quiet neighborhood, and semi-private. We couldn't have wished for a better spot. I wish my stay was longer. Definitely on my "must return list".
The only problem was that if you are older or disabled, it might be hard for you to get down the slope to the house itself. The owner was super friendly and very helpful with tips on where to have great meals.
Comfortable cottage with million dollar view of Mt. Desert Island
Beach front property with excellent view of Mt. Desert Island. 45 minute drive to Acadia National Park. Many local mountains and lakes to visit. Would come back again
We loved our time at this cottage! We are a family of 8 and the space worked well. The views are amazing, exploring and resting were the most enjoyable moments for us. Close enough to Acadia park which we also loved. Cottage could’ve been organized more in the kitchen and cleaned more thoroughly. Overal a wonderful experience!
We had a wonderful time at the house. I read some older reviews saying the linens weren't good but this was not our experience. The beds were all comfortable and the sheets and blankets were clean and also comfortable. We brought our own towels so didn't use what were there. I spoke to the owner and she noted that they do have a problem with people walking off with the towels if she gets new ones so it's understandable that they aren't the best but they seemed fine - again - we brought our own anyway. There were plenty of sheets and pillows and blankets. The bottom bunk in the bedroom with the bunkbeds is a queen sized and plenty big for two people. That room is a bit small but we were fine. The other two bedrooms are great - the kids really enjoyed staying in the one with its own porch.
There are two bedrooms off the main porch and the full bath is also in that part of the house. So you have to walk out on the porch to get to them but we didn't have any problem doing that and it was sort of fun really. The main porch is plenty big and even in the rain we were fine to go back and forth.
The view is fantastic. You can see Cadillac Mountain and the lights of Bar Harbor. It's about a 40 minute drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia but we didn't find that to be a problem. In fact we really enjoyed coming back to the house after our excursions and having it be peaceful and away from a lot of people. The description on VRBO says there is a volleyball court but there isn't one. We didn't miss it but just pointing that out. There are steps down to the water. We had water shoes with us and it's good we did because it's a rocky shoreline with a lot of mussel shells and things. The shoes helped a lot. We kayaked and just sat on the porch. It was wonderful. The roads around the neighborhood are great for jogging with very little car traffic.
The kitchen isn't very big but it was well equipped and we weren't missing anything. Plenty of extra spices and sugar and things.
No washer/dryer. That's one thing that would be nice to have but we really didn't miss it. All in all it was a wonderful stay.
Nice clean property. Responsive owner. Easy access to Acadia, sheltered water in the backyard for paddling. Seals, jumping fish, lobster men and the occasional dolphin visible from 2 excellent porches with views. Galley kitchen. Note a high wall in the pictures with a drop to the rocky beach separated from back yard by a split-rail fence, may be a problem for parents of active toddlers. Fine for bigger kids. Heads-up: no washer/dryer. 1 bedroom in original cottage, 2 in the addition and a brief transit on the porch between the new and old portions. Overall location and views win out.

Property was clean and neat. Beautiful view of Acadia. Peaceful
Loved staying at this little cottage. Close enough to head into Bar Harbor, but fat enough away for peaceful solitude. Our whole family felt this was the most peaceful week of the summer. We would come back.
