Beautiful home in an amazing location. Well appointed and you can't beat the feeling of being submersed in nature. The elements have gotten to the outside of the house since our last stay, and some maintenance is due, but this does not diminish the quality of the stay or location. We will definitely look forward to another visit. Many thanks to a wonderful host!
The house was unique and comfortable in a most beautiful setting in the Gila forest. There were amazing places to walk or just sit and enjoy the views. This place was perfect for my family vacation.
This was the best VRBO I have ever stayed in, The home is gorgeous , comfortable and has everything you would ever need, The location secluded yet close enough to Silver City to be very convenient, The host is easy to communicate with and very helpful. Our family is already wanting to plan another stay here!
Great location, spacious house. Stayed with friends and our dogs to hike the area. The house had some trails right off the porch which was nice for an evening walk

Thanks, Nan, it was a pleasure to host your family!
A wonderful home in a quiet and peaceful area of the forest away from all the noise of the city! We had a great time checking out all the natural sites in the area and enjoyed coming home to a great place with all the features you would ever want in a vacation home! Thanks for the peace and quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
We were overjoyed with not only the location, but the quality and amenities of this beautiful mountain home. The artwork, and the Boho vibe were just what we love. The views, the cleanliness, and the overall arrangement for our family was perfect.
Wonderful home in the hills very quiet with hiking trails just out the door. Hiking the “agave garden” was a little rough in places requiring some bush walking, but the 4 mile trail right next to driveway entrance is fabulous.
A wonderful home nestled in a remarkable bit of geography. Exceeded expectations greatly and wetted our appetite to return again soon.
We felt transported into the best of nature and also so comfortable at the same time.
Thank you
The Shapero
The owner, Bruce, was a factory worker, logger, newspaper reporter, PR flunkie, and unpublished fiction writer before he discovered computers and lost all interest in reality. He spent 12 years in a computer fog, but gave it all up to move to the Silver City area in 1999. He is now in recovery, but does find time to manage an office building and a few other business projects in town.
Why they chose this property
Bruce lived in this beautiful house for five years before turning it into a vacation rental. If you don't book it, he probably will. It's a sacred place that he likes to share with others.
What makes this property unique
Beyond us are only a couple of tiny communities and a hundred miles of wilderness. In this secluded environment, you can hear the diverse sounds of many different varieties of birds, view the Milky Way amidst the dark, starry night skies, watch breath-taking sunsets right from the living room, and hike many nearby trails all the while reconnecting with the natural world AND your own inner landscape.
