Thanks Donna! The tenant Matt was very responsive to communication throughout his stay and took care of my place very well the entire time so that is appreciated very much! If you ever need to rent again I will offer additional discounts since he was an awesome tenant. Thanks for choosing the splash shack!
The property is clean, quiet and peaceful. It is centrally located to many state parks. Lake Egypt is beautiful. The owner was great and quick to reply. We really enjoyed our stay.
This is a big house, has everything we needed. The neighborhood is also very nice and quite. Mark is very easy to communicate with. We recommend this property to those who like fishing and have a boat.
Mark the host very nice man. He must be new to VRBO for he has a lot of his food in refrigerator and freezer which is just not right. Also, house is cluttered with personal stuff . No towels in one bathroom but did find in other. Wanted us to wash and dry bedding and towels etc which made us uncomfortable. The listing stated a free night when you buy 3 and host Mark said he forgot to take it off the listing but would credit us the 89 we were forced to buy as rental insurance but did say he would reimburse us part of the money to make up for that which came to 70 through VRBO. Very misleading and wrong. No lights over driveway making it dangerous walking outside. There were some small motion lights but very inadequate. Also, no address on house making it hard to find. Mark just needs to make some improvements and clean up the place before people arrive. There were mouse traps set in the kitchen and spiders in traps along the walls. Disgusting. ! Pillows on chairs, bedding and stuff laying around etc. Again, Mark appears to want to please and a very nice man but the house should not be rented as is. Thank you, Jeff

The address is on the pole out in front of the house and I also gave him instructions how to get there prior. I did my best to provide the free night but since tenant didn’t inquire prior to the booking and booked the fourth night on the site I had to pay vrbo fees and tax on the night so I could only give back 70 which I didn’t have to do at all but tried to put best practices into the decision. I could use driveway lights that is on the list. This is not a full time vrbo rental and I always tell people that prior to renting. I have a couple photos on the wall but it’s not filled with my personal clutter so I don’t think that comment was accurate. You can’t please them all I tried to communicate with the tenant and tenant just replied I’m here now all good so if something was bothering him all he had to do was say something and I would have driven there myself to correct it but no comments then blasts on the review isn’t quite right. Any checkout I have ever done at rentals always includes removing the sheets and starting the laundry every time so I’m not sure what that complaint is about. I even told him he could check out late after he said he needed to do that. You can’t please someone who isn’t willing to communicate. Thanks for the feed back I’ll put the pillows away
We rented with our friends for a long weekend. The home was just as it was listed and was perfect. It was clean and well maintained. I saw other reviews about the air conditioner being an issue but it wasn’t for us. Turned the temp down when we checked in on both units and it did the job. The location of the boat dock was perfect for us and was super easy to get to. Mark was so quick to respond to questions even prior to us checking in. I had to call to ask a quick question and he answered right away. A great guy to work with. We will definitely being staying again. Thanks Mark for sharing your piece of the lake with us.

My bad on not having the air on prior. The two window units cool the place off fine as long as I turn them on in the morning other guests have had no complaints about the ac in fact when I stay I usually have to turn them down it gets too cold inside. I guess the maid didn’t clean the fridge I will work with her on that issue. On the no refund this was a holiday weekend standard policy is no refund for cancellation 7 days prior to your check in and I did offer them a free stay at a different time to make it even . They didn’t call or discuss anything with me just called vrbo so I can’t help anyone that is not willing to communicate. Just started renting this year so there are some things you learn as you go but I have had 10 renters and this is the first complaint so doing pretty well so far.
I have owned this residence now for 15 years. Nothing beats taking a short drive and sitting in the woods without the need to pitch a tent or drag a camper around. The cabin just sits there most of the time not being used so I thought I would try renting it out to off set the costs of owning it. Please help me take care of it by cleaning up after yourself so others can enjoy the property when they arrive. All cooking and eating utensils are present. The dish washer no longer works it will not pump any water out of it so dishes have to be done manually. Ice box is newer, hot water heater is new and the master bath has new tile installed.
Why they chose this property
Very quiet, area of nice homes. I used to have a place in the camp ground at the lake but it started getting over crowded with people so I finally thought it would be wise to buy something else. The neighborhood is mostly retired people so please try to have fun while not bothering others. Observing a quiet time of 10 pm or so when your outside will ensure the neighbors don’t bother you during your visit. The back deck is screened in, it’s a nice place to hang out in the evening.
What makes this property unique
While it’s not lake front, the neighborhood has a private boat launch and I own a private dock in a no wake cove. It’s good fishing and a great place to tie your boat up. We are very close to several state parks, the wine trail and giant city state park for hiking. They have live music every weekend on the dam road at a bar/bait shop called just add water as well as the resort in the southern part of the lake.
