Spend down time in this luxury downtown five bedroom historic old Shore Crest Retreat, a newly renovated turn of the 19th century off Main Street residence, once the home to Olympic participants. A stone's throw away from Main Street and Mirror Lake, this spacious and very private rental offers all the amenities that an ideally situated downtown location can offer without the hustle and bustle of Main Street.

From its large sitting room with original stone fireplace and wood paneling, walk out on its grand porch to lake and mountain views, July’s fireworks celebration and show almost in your lap, access to restaurants, shopping, and free shuttle service to must-see destinations. The Olympic Arena, Convention Center, ice skating rink, local movie theater, and public beach are within immediate walking distance of this, your rental. Ironman competition and participation couldn’t be any more convenient. Just one hundred feet from your front door to Main Street, catch the free Mountain Valley Shuttle Service for skiers and riders to Whiteface Mountain and ski resort.
Free weekly concerts all summer (see photo of Rusted Root performing) at the band shell in Mid's Park are right there for your pleasure from the comfortable vantage point of our veranda.

Renovations to and remodeling of this vintage home were completed in June of 2011. Each bedroom suite is fitted with its own full sized tiled bathroom and multiple sleeping accommodations. The master bedroom suite also has an additional small room with trundle sofa bed and a screened in sleeping porch overlooking Mirror Lake, Mount Marcy and the distant mountain range. This stately grand home is tastefully decorated with antique and Mission style lighting, hardwood floors, ample closet and storage space, an open living and connecting dining room, a fully equipped eat in kitchen with cherry cabinets, maple butcher block counter tops, high tech appliances, all tiled showers, and a laundry room with a washer and dryer. Simply and tastefully furnished with oriental rugs and antique furniture, this comfortably fitted home with all its amenities also offers convenient and ample off street parking. This mainstream Main Street home affords you the ability to park your vehicle for the duration of your stay unless you were to drive the fifteen minutes to Whiteface Mountain or other nearby attractions. Its attached one bedroom apartment (VRBO #652809) can also be rented separately or with the Main house to sleep an additional 4 guests.

Lake Placid Gem

We rented this property for 10 adults and it was absolutely perfect for us! We were able to walk everywhere, loved the working fireplace, and the views from the deck were spectacular!

Take me back! Great weekend in LP

We had a great time and the house was perfect with each bedroom having its own bathroom. Location was great, right off Main Street. Would definitely look to stay here for the next trip to Whiteface.

Great Location

Accommodations were excellent for our large family. Location to Main Street Stores and Restaurants was 50 feet away. Definitely would recommend this property to family and friends.

Perfect Location

Property was just as described- plenty of room and great common spaces. The location is ideal - right at the middle of Main Street with walking access to all of the attractions the village has to offer. We will be back!

Winter Wonderland

Our family, adults and teens, stayed at Shorecrest for 2 nights (wish it could have been longer). It snowed lightly most of the time we were there which was no problem and added to the beautifully decorated city of Lake Placid! We watched dogsledding on Mirror Lake and enjoyed walking, shopping and dining right from the house. Our crew went skiing one day and bobsledding the next. The home is so cozy and comfortable! There wasn’t anything lacking! It was very enjoyable having our family in one place, playing games together in the evening by a fire. We’d love to return!

Amazing location!

We stayed at Shore Crest over a weekend in July with family and friends. You absolutely cannot beat this location, it doesn’t get any better. Madeleine was a very gracious host - she emailed us prior to our stay to make sure everything was ready for us, answered all of my pre-trip questions immediately, and met us at the house when we arrived to ensure we got settled. The house had many nice extras - lots of games and puzzles that we made good use of, there were clear directions and instructions for everything (tvs, cable, lights, etc). I had to call Madeleine late at night once (we locked ourselves out of one of the bedrooms) and she answered immediately and also fixed the issue immediately. Great hosts and we definitely would stay there again!

Family bonding in the perfect home

My family and I plan an annual trip to Lake Placid and usually stay in the local hotels. There are 5 couples and we travel from up to 8 hours away so this time is precious and this year, in this home, was unforgettable. From the start the owner and property manager were responsive and accommodating. The home was immaculate upon arrival and Lisa gave a great run down of the place to my cousins who showed up first. We always appreciated our own space in the hotels but every room having its own full bath made this beautiful home feel more like your own resort than a VRBO rental. The home itself was so comfortable that we found ourselves staying in and cooking as a family or sitting in front of the fire playing guitars and enjoying each others company instead of going out. When we did go out, our favorite spots on the main strip were within minutes of walking! If you were try to compare this home to any others on the quality/location/owners etc, I doubt you'd be able to touch it, especially for a large group. Thanks for the great stay Madeleine, we will definitely stay here again!

WOW - GREAT LOCATION- GREAT LAKE PLACID VIBES

We spent the weekend for my daughters birthday, visit with my son who attends college close by and just be with our family in one of our favorite locations! The reservation process was easy and the owner communicated with me right away with any questions or concerns. I met with the property manager at check in - she showed us around and showed us what we needed to know about the property. Great parking and right in the heart of downtown LP. We never drove our cars once they were parked because we were in walking distance of everything. Dinner at Jimmy’s one night (excellent) and the next we cooked in the fully equipped kitchen. The house accommodated our large group perfectly. Just about every bedroom had a bathroom to go along with it - A beautiful large front porch and second floor porch made our morning coffee and tea a pleasant way to take in the magnificent mountain ranges and sunrise! Beds were comfy and cozy. Separate dining area was nice for guests who wanted to play cards and have a glass, or two of wine. Large fireplace in the main living space was the perfect way to end our days from the chill of outside. Loved this VRBO rental - will definitely stay again!

I won't stay anywhere but here

This was our 3rd time to Shorecrest and I wouldn't stay anywhere else - even if it were free! Start with the location - it can't get any better. You can watch the activity of main street, or walk right down and take part in it - and continue around Mirror Lake. I'm not a huge outdoorsy person, but with this access, I am walking all the time in LP. The view from the porch is fantastic. If I couldn't leave the house, I would just plant myself here and have a great time. We enjoyed the music from the bandshell right from our porch. Parking can be a problem for Main Street, but with this house, you don't have to think about it since Main Street is a few steps away. (By the way, you can walk up the hill and get to a nice little park with a playground for kids. You can also walk up the hill to the Catholic Church, a great coffee shop, etc.) Now, for the house itself. For our huge group of adults and kids ranging from 14 to 9 months, it is perfect. The bedrooms work out great. The bunk room is perfect for kids and the master has a side room for more kids if needed. It works great for all of us. The kitchen has everything you need. The living room and dining room fit lots of people and are very comfortable - though if it's summer, you'll want to be on the porch anyway (which has plenty of seating). Oh, and for those from the south like us, you'll enjoy the air conditioning in the bedrooms. The owners are completely accessible and ready to address any needs you have. Honestly, I can't be more positive about this house. I look forward to our trip here every year. I can't imagine anything that would make it better.

Great location & amazing property. 6 adults and 4 small children fit very comfortably. We cooked all of our meals in the home. Kitchen and amenities were great. We enjoyed the balcony at night looking out onto the lake. Very accessible to in town activities I.e. kayaking on the lake, public beach, restaurants and shops. Absolutely recommend!

Our family stayed during the Ironman competition and it was the perfect location. We were able to walk to every event. The house is perfect in that every bedroom has its own bathroom. Being a family of 10 there was more than enough room for all. The kitchen stove can be a bit challenging and the bath tub needs a stopping. Otherwise, the house is perfect. We loved having morning coffee and enjoying evenings on the deck.

A perfect vacation spot

Outstanding Location. Very clean, comfortable beds, bathrooms for every room is a big plus owners, owners extremely responsive and very easy to work with. Spacious, perfect location, and cabin vibe!

We had a group of 10 staying at the house. There was truly so much space, linens were very clean, and the house was even larger than it seemed in the photos. Our experience communicating with the host was great - she was easy to reach and even helped us out by making sure the neighbors car wasn’t in our way. The stay was amazing - you truly cannot get a better location if visiting Lake Placid. The house is right in the middle of the main strip on Mirror Lake. I would love to make this trip again with family.

Cozy Stay in Lake Placid – A Perfect Location for a Relaxing Getaway

We had an absolutely wonderful time during our stay in Lake Placid! The location couldn’t have been better – nestled right in the heart of this charming mountain town, we were just a short walk from the lake, local shops, and great dining options. Waking up to the peaceful surroundings and stunning views of the Adirondacks made our trip feel like a true retreat from the hustle and bustle.The cozy accommodations added so much to our experience. The space was warm, inviting, and well-equipped with everything we needed to feel at home. After days spent exploring the scenic trails and enjoying outdoor activities, it was a pleasure to return to such a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.We highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a blend of adventure and tranquility. Thanksgiving weekend get away

Each year my family of seven adults and our young granddaughter go to Lake Placid the day after Thanksgiving and stay the weekend. We chose Shore Crest this year and I’m so glad we did! The home is just beautiful and the views are breathtaking! It was clean and large enough for all of us. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and thermostat. The location cannot be beat either! It is only steps away from all the restaurants, shopping, and beauty of downtown. We already plan to return next year! The owners and house manager were great and very attentive, though we had no issues. Thanks so much for a wonderful weekend! We look forward to next year!

Relaxing and beautiful property!

We absolutely loved our stay! The house was even better in person with views that were absolutely stunning from the front porch. With a group of friends, each of us has a comfy bedroom with attached bathroom which was incredibly convenient. We were also right down town which made it so easy to walk around mirror lake and stop for a coffee or bite to eat. We can’t say enough good things about this property and will absolutely book again!

Family vacation to Lake Placid

Our family enjoyed a 5 day stay at Shore Crest in late August. The main room and bedrooms easily accommodated 12 of us and we loved the covered porch overlooking Mirror Lake.

As antiques dealers for over 30 years, we have applied our many years of experience in the decorative arts into restoring and decorating what was once and is again an elegant Mission style home. We have retained what we could of the home's honesty but have modernized it for today's market and livability. As a result, once referred to as the 'Bumstead House' and serving as an Inn for many of the 1930's Olympic participants, Shore Crest has retained its original wood paneling, hardwood floors, and stone fireplace, and has been lovingly restored to its old glory.

We had been vacationing in Lake Placid for years and thought that the best of all worlds could be had in the purchase of a home that was as convenient to all amenities as this one was and is.
