Your private apartment is set within a gorgeous, beautifully-appointed 1917 Craftsman Bungalow in the premiere walking district of Seattle - theaters, restaurants, shopping and more shopping, parks and trails for walking and biking; close to bus lines to downtown Seattle, the Seattle Art Museum and Seattle Center and the Sound Transit trains; near the tulip fields and ferries to the San Juan Islands and historic areas north of Seattle; Mt. Rainier and Mount St. Helens are a day-trip; quiet, residential neighborhood with plenty of street parking. Relax on the outside patio for some quiet time, enjoy a short walk to one of the neighborhood theaters or restaurants (sushi, Italian, Japanese, Thai, vegetarian, fusion, pizza, etc., etc.). There's nothing you'll need that you can't find in Wallingford. This is the large downstairs unit, with southern-exposure garden windows, a private entrance that is accessed from the side of the house, and a guest-available garden patio.

We enjoyed our stay at this quaint daylight basement apartment in a quiet city neighborhood, walking distance from shops, restaurants and public transit. A tall person like my 6’5 husband may be challenged by the shower but it was manageable.

This is a lovely, small property. Garnett gave excellent instructions of how to arrive, get in, park, etc. The unit is well maintained and very well stocked, which is so nice. And Garnett appreciated feedback on something to add to the kitchen that we would have been happy to use during our stay. The bed is very comfortable and loads of pillows and blankets.

Sweet place in a great neighborhood

The apartment is not large but it had everything we needed, including a very comfortable bed. The location is fantastic--very quiet, across from a park but an easy walk to restaurants and stores. We would happily stay again.

A perfect cozy spot to land between Seattle adventures. Proximity to shops, restaurants, and highways was great, and the apartment amenities were plentiful. Garnett has thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and stress free. I'll definitely look this place up next time I'm in town.

Very well kept great little place.

First time to Seattle area and this place made our weekend great. Showed up a bit late on Friday and checked into the room then headed out for something to eat. Lots of options within walking distance. Garnett communicated with us a lot ahead of time so the spare bed was ready for my son to use. Overall great stay.

A most pleasant stay and location.

Wonderfully spacious, charming and well appointed walk-in basement apartment with it's own outdoor garden patio. Lots of charm, too. Ideal walking location to many Wallingford restaurants and shopping. Be aware of a very friendly cat who may or may not visit. Owner absolutely lovely and helpful lives above and is a master gardener-landscaper from her exquisite surroundings.

One of the best places ever.

Garnett was extremely helpful with all the info I needed before arriving. The place is perfect for 2-3 people. The bed is massive and one of the most comfortable beds I've ever been in. It's very private and parking was not an issue. Nothing was wrong with the place. Very clean when we arrived. The neighborhood has a lot to offer and the city is very close. We ate at so many good places in Wallingford. I would definitely stay here again.

This is the perfect Seattle bungalow!

Garnett has created the most wonderful bungalow inside and outside. She's thought of everything a visitor would need - really comfy bed, nicely equipped kitchen and bathroom, and a perfect outside sitting area. Location is great in Wallingford. Ruby and Jessie (her cats) are friendly and affectionate! We had the best stay there while visiting our son. 5 gold stars for sure! Thank you Garnett!

Homey place with great location

This place is lovingly decorated with beautiful pottery and good art, thoughtful touches like throws and pillows. I was pleased to see that the mattress was enclosed in what looked like a bedbug proof cover, since this has been an issue for me at other properies. Cozy, with lots of nice touches, comfortable and close to one of Seattle's best restuarant rows on Wallingford as well as proximity to the University District, Fremon and Ballard. Quiet, leafy neighborhood with lots of beautifully maintained, older houses, You could not find a better location!

Cozy, beautiful, clean, home away from home

We couldn't have been happier with our stay at Garnett's Place. Garnett has thought of every detail for her guests. If you are a foodie, you will especially enjoy your stay. From the fantastic restaurants within walking distance, to the high quality cooking tools in the kitchen for your use, to the fresh raspberries growing right outside your door - everything you could want or need is there. If you have a child, there's an amazing park right across the street. We visited the playground with our daughter on numerous occasions, and we were fortunate to have the splash pool open during our stay. There are also a couple of tennis courts nearby (wish we had brought our equipment!) and a nightly pick up basketball game. It is a friendly, welcoming community. It is also very easy to get around the rest of Seattle without a car, as there are bus stops within walking distance of the house. So many happy memories were created during our visit. We will definitely be back. Thank you, Garnett!

Everything As Advertised -- Only Better!

My wife and I spent 10 days in Seattle this trip and had a wonderful time -- and if there had been a sixth star option above, I would've checked it without hesitation. Being able to come home to a uniquely warm, comfortable and relaxing place every evening was a real joy. For our needs, the location was outstanding -- so close to nearly everything in the surrounding area. The amenities are extensive and thoughtfully provided [thanks for the cotton swabs!]. We wanted for absolutely nothing. And if we had needed something? No doubt, Garnett would've been on it in a flash! Yes -- she's THAT guest-focused! She has obviously gone to great lengths to ensure her guests are well taken care of -- you will feel that the moment you arrive. Read the other comments here, as we did, before booking. Cast aside any 'Really? This place is THAT nice?' skepticism you may have. Their overall positive impressions and 5-star ratings are, in my view, a true and accurate testament to Garnett's thoroughness, attention to detail and eagerness to have her guests genuinely enjoy themselves. We can think of nothing we would change at all about our stay [even the Seattle weather, if you can believe it] -- and surely hope we have a chance in the future to become another of her 'regulars' when we're in the area. The fact we would want to return to the same place multiple times -- as others have actually done -- speaks volumes about how impressed we were. We unconditionally recommend this property to anyone seeking to experience a unique side of Seattle and the Wallingford neighborhood. Unquestionably, this represents outstanding value for the nightly rate being charged. It's significantly more unique and satisfying than a hotel in more ways than we can count. A few words about the property description: Garnett's description of her property is one of the best we've read -- 'spot on', as a Brit might say. It's simple. It's factual without any fluff [ex: the description of the bathroom]. That being said, however, we think it's an ideal setting for 2 people. For 4? Uh... Not so much... While it can accommodate 4 people, we think that number of people in this space for more than perhaps a day/night or two might significantly compromise the comfort factor. An example? I can't imagine the gymnastics involved in shuffling people into and out of the bathroom while trying to keep an event schedule. To each their own views, however... Thanks for all, Garnett!

Why they chose this property

I bought my house in 1987. Once I toured this neighborhood, I knew it was for me. The downstairs apartment was part of the house when I moved in - and has provided opportunity for 'sharing the wealth' all these years. It was fully remodeled approximately 6 years ago to my specifications; a lovely space.

What makes this property unique

You'll be able to look out the back kitchen window at the lovely garden, enjoy the planter boxes that surround the window, enjoy a quiet and peaceful sleep in the bedroom or living room, enjoy the bright sun, walk to the park across the street. If the day is warm, open the front door and let day in - or go outside and sit in the patio area, surrounded by red raspberries, flowers and growing vegetables - meet the neighbors walking the area.
