Guest house on gated acre estate, Sleeps up to 7; Great for Events, too

Beautiful, elegantly furnished and fully-equipped 2 bedroom, two bath guest house, with antiques and open beam ceiling, on a 1 acre gated estate, with koi pond, waterfall, fountain, chlorine-free pool and hot tub, and 180 degree ocean-view lanai. Fully furnished and equipped guest house is over 1000 square feet with a 280 square foot lanai. TV, Internet access, electricity, water and trash pick-up included. Laundry facility available on the property for an additional charge. The estate is located at a 1000 foot elevation, which is perfect weather. No air conditioning needed. The property is 10 minutes from downtown Kona, 5 minutes from the airport, and near beaches, restaurants and 3 minutes from Costco. NO SMOKERS; small housebroken pets considered. Organic home cooked meals available at an extra charge. Holistic physician and chiropractor available, on site, for extra charge. Call Karen Block Russell. There are 14.962% Hawaii state taxes, plus the county has instituted a 3% surcharge transient accommodations tax, on top of that, for a total 17.962% taxes. According to Hawaii state law, GE and TA taxes must be collected. Our TA Number (Transient Accommodations) number is TA-146-470-5024-01 and our GE (General Excise) tax number is GE-146-470-5024-01. Info on County surcharge is available on the County of Hawaii website

We charge a $225 cleaning fee, additional charges if per. Lastly, there is a $250 refundable security deposit; babies and toddlers are considered guests, that means we charge guests with an extra guest fee for babies and toddlers.

Our home is located on the corner of a two lane road which is a 3 minute drive to Costco and 1/4 mile from the upper Highway, Mama La Hoa Highway. There is some traffic noise during parts of the day.

Great place to stay in Kona. The house was clean and had everything we needed including equipment for the beach. The hosts were very friendly and helpful with suggestions for sightseeing and snorkeling.The only minor downside was that it is close to a road so it can be noisy at times.

This was such a beautiful home, host's are wonderful. We enjoyed our stay very much.Definitely worth staying again. Comfortable and clean. Plenty room for everyone to have space .Absolutely the best. So much to see just on the property, a few pets to pet and feed. Hot tub,and infinity pool. Loved everything.

Great property!

We stayed on this property for 2 weeks, the unit was top notch, very clean and stocked with everything needed to make our stay enjoyable. The property was beautiful, tropical oasis! The hosts Karen and Tim were very gracious and great to visit with. Their guest hosts Jeannette and John were also great interesting people! I would recommend this property to anyone.

Fun stay

Ocean views from the privacy of a tropical jungle! Complete with a 20 year old Tortoise, named Moku. Lovely stay and would definately stay again.

Perfect location convenient to everywhere on the island!

The location is very convenient but the best part is the personal service from the host. The stay felt more like I was visiting family than a hotel. Lots of amenities from snorkeling gear to beach toys and a huge washer too. Highly recommend.

Kids loved it

We chose Karen’s place because of the proximity to my aunt’s house, two twin beds for kids, and fruit trees the kids could enjoy. The goats were an added bonus.

Beautiful pool/grounds!

Karen & Tim were extremely nice and welcoming! Property is in an ideal location overlooking the coast and well stocked with everything you could ever want from a kitchen and accessories perspective. Highly reccomended for vacationing families and couple alike. If you stay here remember to take time and enjoy the view!

So convenient and welcoming!

We really enjoyed our stay with Karen and Tim! The location was very convenient to the airport and Kona and our children loved meeting and interacting with the goats/tortoise/dogs. The place is very comfortable and the addition of a washer/dryer made our stay so easy! Thank you, Karen!

Very comfortable apartment. Hosts are exceptionally nice. Even stopped by to sing Happy Birthday!! Fresh fruit trees, miniature goats, giant tortoise and eight cuddly dogs to keep things interesting!

Peaceful place of rest away from tourists

The property was beautiful -- filled with plants of all kinds and animals. After a busy day of driving and being in crowds, it was nice to come "home" to a place to unwind. My favorite place was the porch where we ate meals when we were at the house. Karen was a great hostess who also gave good suggestions about places to see.

Property was even better than advertised. The road noise that was mentioned was not a big issue. Karen and Tim were wonderful hosts and the kitchen was well stocked. Beautiful place and the dogs, Tortoise and dwarf goats were a delight.

Wonderful view

Karen and Tim are gracious hosts. There was 5 of us and it was just right. Enough room for everyone. They had snorkels and boogie boards which was very convenient. Their pool amazing and refreshing from a hot day. They gave us a lot of useful information on where to go and what to see. When we come back to Kona we will definitely be reaching out again.

Kona Christmas

Fantastic property and awesome hosts. Tim & Karen made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. The house is in a great location, about four miles up the mountain from KOA airport. 1,250 feet above sea level so the evenings are very comfortable for sleeping. Several awesome beaches are all within a 20 minute drive. The house is spacious, well kept and full of every possible amenity. Karen provided superb recommendations for beaches and places to visit. I strongly recommend this host. It is THE best place we have stayed at on The Big Island in all the years we have visited.

Dream Vacation is an UNDERSTATEMENT!

Wow! The hospitality we received from THE VERY beginning all the way through the end of our stay- was absolutely UNREAL! So grateful to have been hosted at the beautiful, elegant, and serene Turtle House by the most patient, considerate, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and most helpful couple ever! Traveling with a little one is never easy, but with a place like this and hosts like these, it really doesn't get much better! I could go on and on singing their praises but you'll just have to visit yourself to know what I mean! Thank you for everything Karen and Tim! It was a pleasure!

Warm people and great location

My family, consisting of my wife and I, our 7 year old girl and the grandparents (both in their 70's) stayed here and loved the property. Karen and Tim were great to us and were very reasonable and accommodating. Our daughter loved staying here! Part of her daily routine was feeding all the animals on site with Karen (who was great with our daughter). The location was perfect for us as we were an easy 30 min drive to our favorite beaches up the north coast. They shared their beach toys with us and that gave us everything we needed the whole time we were there without having to rent or buy additional beach items. The washer/dryer was great for us as well. Overall, this was a great place to stay! Thanks for the warmth and genuineness. Aloha!

Comfort in paradise!

We absolutely loved our stay. We were blown away by the beautiful garden grounds all around, with such variety of plants and flowers, fruit trees, pool and animals. We were welcomed so warmly and throughout our stay loved how Karen let us interact with the animals- especially our 13 year old who was in love with the little dogs. The guesthouse is spacious and beautiful, as is the lanai. There is some street noise, but this is mentioned in the listing and did not bother us. We were so glad we chose the guesthouse over a condo. It is only minutes from Kona. Having a pool and hot tub to yourself in a garden so beautiful can’t be beat. Literally everything you need and more can be found in the unit, including all the beach items you could want. Thank you Karen and Tim for such a great stay and wonderful communication!

A wonderful hospitality experience !

Words fail to describe the experience my family had staying with Karen and Tim. The accommodations were beyond my expectations and the Aloha Spirit was very much alive there. She has created an "Eden like" environment of exotic landscapes that epitomizes everything Hawaiian. From the gorgeous sunrises filled with exotic birds foraging their breakfast from her orchard to the overwhelming floral bouquet every morning with Kona coffee on the lanai, this special place has created an indelible impression burned into our collective memories. My 92 year old mother and wife were both near refusing to leave when the day came to extract ourselves from this paradise. We will be back in few months and can't wait to see our new friends and experience the daily life within the natural world they have created. Truly a heavenly place on Earth. Mahalo...

BEST PLACE EVER!!!

Absolutely loved this place! It was so wonderful I don’t even know where to begin! Firstly it feels like you’re living in a jungle, it is so beautiful and comforting! The plant and area around it are so intriguing and healthy! Secondly, Karen and Tim (the hosts) are some of the nicest people you will ever meet! They are social and kind, you almost feel like you’re part of their family! They have a turtle and two goats, they are so much fun to hangout with in the mornings! Also, Karen and Tim have so many suggestions for things to do around the island, they gave us a good easy hike to do which was only a few minutes away from the house and it was so much fun! And another thing, they have the cutest small dogs I have ever seen! The home you stay in is so well managed and clean, it is such a comfortable place to be! It honestly feels like home! (My dad and I made smoothies every morning with oranges from their trees, AMAZING)! Highly suggest stay here!

Born in Columbus Ohio...went to Kent State for B.A. and Ohio State for my Masters Degree; and the Institute for Integrative Nutrition/Columbia University for post grad work in holistic health. Completed additional post graduate work to become a Certified Natural Healthcare Professional. Love music, nature, dance, art, health and people. I now live in Kailua Kona, HI with my fiancee, Dr. Tim Hendlin, who is a holistic physician and chiropractor. We have 8 'fur children', a giant tortoise, 2 Nigerian Dwarf Goats and an Amazon parrot.

It's a safe, beautiful, private place, that is close to town, the airport, beaches, attractions, restaurants and shopping. We are very accommodating and caring for our guests. We have beautiful landscaping and wonderful fruit trees throughout the property.

What makes this property unique

It's so wonderful to be able to look out and see the ocean from throughout the property. The sunsets are magnificent and if a visitor wants on site chiropractic services, massage, far infrared sauna, nutritional and holistic health guidance or organic meals, they are available, at an extra charge.
