Nice weekend getaway

Beautiful property that is nice and quiet but close enough to downtown Weaverville, the parkway, and a quick drive to downtown Asheville. Owner is very kind and welcoming! We had the best stay!

Lovely Retreat

Our family enjoyed a lovely stay at Leah’s Wild Mountain Air retreat. The home was clean, well appointed and surrounded by the most lovely gardens. The booking was easy. Leah provided great local recommendations for meals and tips for wildlife spotting. We needed a restful weekend away and this was the perfect spot to connect and breathe!

Paradise

This place is so perfect it is borderline magical. The setting, the decor, Leah's hospitality...everything was great! My friend and I had a wonderful time catching up while sitting on the deck and taking in the atmosphere. Even now - more than a week later, I'm still thinking about our visit and it brings me peace.

This is one of my all-time favorite places in the Blue Ridge mountains. The house itself, the surroundings, proximity to the things we want to do in and around Asheville are all great.

Beautiful & Peaceful

The house is so spacious, clean, peaceful, and beautifully decorated! The large windows everywhere light up the room with natural light while providing a good view of the mountains surrounding the property. The many rugs, tapestry, wood furnishings, and other decorations give a pleasant nature/rustic, yet slightly elegant, feel to the house. You can tell the owner likes to garden and there are beautiful flowers surrounding the wrap around porch. The owner was very pleasant and great to communicate with. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there!

Refreshing mountain get-away

We loved this cozy home nestled in the mountains! We would have loved to have spent more of our time there just sitting out on the deck listening to the chirping birds and breathing the fresh mountain air, but the main purpose for our trip was to attend a conference at the Cove in Asheville, along with some sight-seeing activities. The beds were very comfortable, and the shower was absolutely amazing!

Beautiful

My wife and I loved our stay. Leah, the host that lives in the bottom unit, was so kind and gave us some great tips on where to see waterfalls and where to eat. We followed her recommendations and were not disappointed. The house is so much nicer than the photos convey. The location is perfect. Would definitely recommend and would definitely stay again. 5/5 stars.

Beautiful mountain retreat!

The Retreat House was absolutely wonderful! It was the perfect mountain home to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We loved the interior/ exterior design, location, and peacefulness of this home. It was just as we thought it would be. You could tell a lot of thought went into the design of this home. We would highly recommend this wonderful getaway!!!

Just Right

Beautifully decorated chalet. Helpful, available, congenial host. Scenic, peaceful, walkable setting with easy drives to Asheville and surroundings.Made it hard to come home to hot, humid, flat Naples, Florida. Really enjoyed Leah's shop where we bought artisan gifts.

Incredible and healing place

Words cannot express how much my friend and I enjoyed our stay there. We enjoyed it so much we barely spent any time outside of the property, despite originally planning to. It’s a beautiful home with incredible views, lots of nature (I saw a black bear and cubs frolicking in the nearby meadow!), and stunning design. It’s in a great location - 10 minutes from the small downtown of Weaverville and between 20-30 minutes to Asheville and Black Mountain! Leah was a lovely host and has a sweet shop in Weaverville I recommend checking out. Highly highly recommend this place, and I will definitely come back if I have the opportunity. Thank you!

Lovely spacious home with all the amenities, privacy and serenity one could hope for. My only recommendation is to replace double beds for either queen or king beds for taller guests!

We were very comfortable in our mountain home. Our dog, Hayden, loves every minute of his country lane walks and wandering. Our location placed within 30 minutes of the majority of site seeing we wanted to do. Thank you, Leah, for sharing your home with us!

A unique and beautiful home with amazing views

My wife and I and her parents loved staying here. There was a ground floor with en suite bathroom for them and we had the upstairs bedroom with en suite bathroom offering a nice amount of privacy. The house is spacious, well furnished, unique, and extremely beautiful. It is a mountain-side eco-home with an interesting story and wonderful views overlooking the surrounding forest and meadows. Our host Leah was kind, communicative, and accommodating. We'd happily stay here again.

Very relaxing

Great place. We enjoyed it. It had a lot of character. The downstairs shower was great. We looked and looked for a microwave and found it the last day in a very obscure place. Temperature regulation was a problem with floor heat that wasn’t supposed to be changed in 60 degree weather. Overall the experience was what we wanted...relaxing!!

Amazing place to stay!

My husband, our dog, and I had a great time staying here. The house is simply stunning as are the woods and field around it. From the upper deck we could see deer, horses, rabbits and fireflies at night. It is so quiet at night which is a nice change of pace from where we live. Weaverville has a nice downtown area with several great spots to eat and places to shop. Lake Louise is a lovely little park nearby w walking trails and a play area for kids. We spent several days in Asheville, so this house was perfect as it took about 20 minutes to get to the city. The Blue Ridge Parkway is very close, as are white water rafting excursions (go w French Broad Adventures). Leah is very nice and made us feel very welcome. Would definitely stay here again and we are already planning next years trip!

A true sanctuary

We spent a week at this beautiful home, and it is truly a place of peace and rest. Our initial plans for our vacation involved lots of outdoor activities, but when it rained for much of the week, we felt SO lucky to have a place to stay that we genuinely wanted to be in. Waking up to the sound of birdsong and the wind in the trees, drinking coffee and having meals on the decks, and walking around the gravel roads felt like a gift every day. When we did get out to explore, we enjoyed the great shops and restaurants in Weaverville, some nearby hikes, and a few fun days in Asheville, which is only 20-25 minutes away. We miss this place already! We’re grateful to Leah for welcoming us with such warmth and hospitality. :)

Great spot. Glad we found it.

Wild Mountain Air is a gem of a vacation spot, which I came across by happenstance. It is 20 minutes from Asheville, and close to many hiking trails and parks. Weaverville is 10 minutes away for one to collect essentials from, if needed. Yet it is secluded enough to be free of light pollution at night to enjoy the stars as they were meant to be. The inside was thoughtfully appointed for comfort and comforting, with fitting accoutrement and décor. Leah’s (our host) keen eyes for artful, tasteful approach to the welcoming set up were evident throughout, inside and out. Outside were decks, and a porch with a swing, all wrapped around by gardens of herbs and flowers. When not exploring, we spent a lot of time sitting out on the decks, just vegging out, drinking coffee, watching humming birds arguing about the feeders, and looking up at the sky at nights. And, of course, dining al fresco on the deck in the evening. Leah’s communications were prompt, courteous, and to the point. She was a gracious host, who made sure our stay was comfortable. The check-in was quick and smooth. Checkout was equally uneventful. I plan to go back to Wild Mountain Air. Unfortunately, the bears didn’t come by during our stay, as we had hoped.

Beautiful Home Nestled in the Mountains

We had a wonderful stay in Leah's home. My fiancé and I (and our dog) love the Asheville area, and try to head up from Tampa each year. Leah's home is in a perfect location for exploring nature AND hitting the city. It's minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, and a short drive to stores and restaurants, but is secluded in a beautiful rural mountain landscape. The garden outside is lush and beautiful, with a little mountain creek running down (so nice to sit outside and listen). Her home is super cozy, clean, and perfectly decorated (complete with neat artwork and books). Everything we needed was there. The claw-foot tub was great after hiking all day! Gorgeous views of the mountains out front. The lightning bugs were magical at night. Our dog, Bo had a great time walking around near the property and running around the spacious house. We did not want to leave! We all felt very relaxed and rejuvenated after our trip. Leah and her sister are on the property, but we never saw them, unless we wanted to say "hello". Very private and secluded. We hope to return again! Great times!

Perfect Long Weekend!

The only downside to staying at Wild Mountain Air was tearing ourselves away at the end of our stay! We wished so much we could have spent at least another day at this haven of peace and beauty, without going anywhere all day, enjoying the lovely setting from daybreak until the dark of night when the Milky Way soared overhead. This was our first visit to the Asheville area. We spent each day in Asheville, seeing the Biltmore, the North Carolina Arboretum (where we were able to see Leah display some of her beautiful lamps at a craft show), the River Arts District, the Basilica of St Lawrence and several of the many brew-pubs. But we liked to come back to nearby Weaverville in the evenings and enjoyed dinner at the Blue Mountain Pizza and Brew Pub and at the Glass Onion. Heading back to Leah's wonderful house was a perfect way to end each day! We loved everything about the house, both indoor and out. My wife and I chose the upstairs bedroom and the downstairs bathroom with its terrific shower room and its windows on the woods. No pictures can quite do justice to a place like this, but the photos Leah has provided did entice us to choose her property. We are so glad that we did, and we hope very much to come back before too long. Between the beauty of this property and its views, and the appeal of Weaverville and the nearby Blue Ridge Parkway, we might never make it as far as Asheville though!

Returned to my North Carolina roots in 2006 after living in San Francisco Bay area for 17 years.
I enjoy walking in the woods, riding my horse, traveling, being a crafty artisan ~ see my lamps at Artisans On Main in downtown Weaverville, Woolworth Walk in Asheville or on Luminosa Lighting.com or https://www.facebook.com/luminosalighting/?ref=hl .

Why they chose this property

My sister and I purchased the property in 1982. In 2006 I returned to my native roots to be close to family and build my nest.

What makes this property unique

Weaverville is a sweet little town just far enough away from Asheville to escape the crowd but not so far as to be inconvenient. Some very good restaurants offer great local choices. The Glass Onion (A+ food), the notorious Well Bred Bakery, All Good Coffee for the connoisseur, Blue Mountain Pizza (usually has live music), and The Twisted Laurel to name a few.

Artisans On Main represents the work of more than 30 local artist work and 5 working studios. Miya Gallery, and Mangum Pottery also showcase beautiful locally made art and craft work.

The house is 5 minutes from the parkway, 10 minutes from downtown Weaverville and 20 minutes from downtown Asheville.

Hiking, Zipline Adventures, Natural Hotsprings, and river tubing are all nearby.
