The Studio was perfect for us and our dog. It was clean and we had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed walking the grounds!! Gorgeous setting. The booking was easy and accurate. Easy drive to both Black Mountain and Asheville. We loved it.
We loved our stay at the studio. It was perfect for our family. We enjoyed evening walks around the property and breathtaking sunsets over the lake. This cabin is close to hiking trails and many restaurants. We highly recommend this place and plan to stay again in the future.
Unique place and property. My husband and I met at a summer camp so it was a bit of nostalgia staying so close to a camp. Really enjoyed hiking the lookout trail and dining at the bush farmhouse. Black mountain was a great weekend trip.
We arrived in the dark and had a bit of trouble finding the Studio due to GPS accuracy, and how dark it was! We loved waking up in the morning to Mountain View’s and a beautiful landscape of the property. The house was full of interesting photographs and treasures from around the world. We were a little worried about the ‘neighborhood’ free ranging dogs as our dog is not dog friendly if a dog were to run up on her. However they did not bother us! If this isn’t notated in the listing, it would be a good idea to definitely mention it! Our host was very friendly and stopped by to say hello and let us know we could explore the property. We would certainly stay at this resort again! I wish we had more time to explore the property and enjoy the trails and lake views!
This was a fantastic location. We enjoyed the remote location away from the hustle and bustle of where we currently live. This was a last minute decision and the owner was fantastic in helping us make this work. The property was fantastic and wonderful to be able to take our dogs to run and enjoy their time, too! Will definitely be back (hopefully under better circumstances).

Wonderful area.
The 62 acres is beautiful and great to hike around but confusing because you don't know whose property you might be on and there is no one to ask? Very private except for the maintenance dept was right behind the studio which would have been nice to know beforehand? No silverware, enough dishes or supplies.

Thank you for your review. We actually live on the property and have a 24 hour guest emergency # listed in the in house guestbook to call if there is an issue during the stay. Sorry that we were unable to answer any questions you may have had.
It is true, the Studio is next door to our workshop (we call the Garrett) and woodshed and separated by a fence. Our handyman Craig was very glad to assume his new title of Maintenance Dept! Joking aside we will make sure to check the drawers to see if somehow the utensils have gone missing.

Pleasant, but not so great
The location was great; an easy 15 highway drive without traffic to downtown and far enough away to be quiet. The grounds, landscape with lake and rolling hills was beautiful and peaceful (watch out for duck poop everywhere). The studio was quaint, but, we did not like that the shower is alone in one room, a toilet in another room and neither had a sink or mirror. Also, it was not as clean as depicted in the photos. The outside grill had been used and not cleaned with chunks of meat and grease throughout. The outside chairs and table were dirty.

We are glad this guest enjoyed our property and location. We certainly do have many geese here on the grounds. Our joke is that they don't bother to migrate since Lake Eden has everything they could possibly want. They do stay in the lower grounds down by the lake and are not generally found up in the lodging area.
As for the layout of the Studio, this is directly because the building actually WAS a documentary photography studio in it's former life and the shower room was a converted developing room. There is a mirror in the shower room on the wall and a sink & mirror just outside the door to the toilet room. All of these spaces are just a few feet from each other, side by side of course since the Studio is a compact space.
In regards to the outside patio furniture and grille we will certainly make sure housekeeping pays closer attention to those details in the future. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.
The property is a one-bedroom freestanding home (main room with fold-out futon), kitchen, and loft bedroom). It's fine for two adults, but would be pretty crowded with more than that. The setting is great, being located on a very pretty former summer camp with two small lakes, meadows, and lots of woods. This house is up on a hill, so very private. It was too cold to really enjoy the outdoors, but it is also very close to Asheville. We toured the Biltmore and also caught a movie in town. Everything was nicely decorated and in good condition.
My wife and I enjoyed our say here as it was a peaceful and comfortable place for our visit to Ashville, NC. Wonderful restaurants in nearby Black Mountain.
My wife and I enjoyed our stay. A nicer mattress, new pillows, and some more comfortable furniture would go a long way to making it a 5 star stay. The pantry also lacked some essentials that make for a nice rental. It’s certainly a good location if you’re visiting Black Mountain and Asheville, but want to be off the beaten path.
Perfect size place for a couple. Plenty of room, functional kitchen, and gorgeous scenery. Black Mountain is very close by for food and entertainment. Recommend hiking in Montreat, also.
Great, unique location and property. We loved walking the grounds with our pup. A great stay!

All in all not bad, The stairs to the loft are pretty tough if you are up in age. The Blinds don't cover the whole window and leave a huge crack at the bottom for others to see in as well as one of the blinds were missing a shutter. The Furniture left a lot to be desired for comfort, Just never could get comfortable and you have to go get your own Fire wood from the storage place. There is no view of any kind and the Lake is nice if you just want to drive by and look at it, Cant do anything at the lake its private. Not really what we thought what we were getting but not a terrible stay..

Thank you for staying with us and I'm sorry to hear that everything was not perfect. Yes the bedroom is up the spiral staircase and may not be appropriate for everyone. The Studio is nestled in a wooded section of the property overlooking a ravine with a stream below. Guests are welcome to walk around the 70+ acres and enjoy our many wonderful view points.
Hopefully you found the large woodshed which is just at the end of the driveway past the Studio, about 20 yards. While we can't allow swimming in the lake for safety reasons, many of our guests do enjoy fishing or just viewing the wildlife.
It was challenging to find actual property once we saw the mailbox. Better description to understand we were back between several other properties: this is on a camp with sign saying we need appointment, etc. no # actually marking house...had to pull up listing pic to see if we were at right place...verified by opening lockbox...could have been at wrong property with people at home. Soap & shampoo for people who fly; mention no TV...we didn’t care nor miss but I know people who would not be happy. Nightlight since circular stairs & no bathroom on bedroom loft. Leaving a light on downstairs was a bit bright.

Thank you for staying at Lake Eden. Our property is in fact next door to a summer camp, but is completely separate and has it's own entrance. (I believe the sign you saw was for the camp entrance?) We also do have metal signs directing guests to the individual cabins here on property with another sign actually affixed to the front of the Studio next to the door with the name of the unit on it. We also send out turn by turn directions upon confirmation with a map of the grounds along with out direct contact info. I wish you had given us a call if you were having trouble finding anything as we live on property and would gladly have directed you in.
