About this property
Antique Charm and Modern Comfort on Maine Waterfront
Relax, play, or work in this sunny New England Cape located within 15 minutes of the walkable coastal towns of Boothbay Harbor, Wiscasset, and Damariscotta. Located on 13 partially wooded acres with over 1700 feet of tidal waterfront, this home was built in 1840's and has hardwood floors throughout. It was renovated in 2017 with a modern open concept to maximize comfort. Enjoy beautiful views from nearly every room and two outdoor decks. Make full use of the free high-speed Wi-Fi, available throughout the home, supported by a full-house generator.
Ask about discounts for 14 nights or more.
The main downstairs living area consists of a sunroom, living room, and open-concept kitchen with large island and dining room with French doors to a cozy backyard deck with BBQ. The kitchen is well equipped with a gas stove, electric oven, microwave, deluxe toaster oven, coffee maker, electric tea pot, and other handy gadgets (e.g., Instapot, electric mixer). A powder room and laundry room with utility sink and large-capacity washer and dryer are also found on the ground floor. Both the sunroom and living room have large 4K televisions.
The primary bedroom is located downstairs with a king-sized bed and outdoor deck overlooking the water. Its en suite bathroom has a roomy shower, bathtub, and spacious vanity. A walk-in closet and office area (with two desks) is attached to the primary bedroom, which also has room-darkening curtains to enjoy daytime naps.
The upstairs bedroom has a queen bed, ample closet, and window shades. It is adjacent to a spacious bathroom with shower. On this level, there is also a bonus room facing the water with a writing desk and a small room with exercise equipment.
This saltwater farm is located on a rural road (one mile off the main route to Boothbay Harbor), with large (5+ acre) lots. The only visible house is far across the cove, a circa 1806 Federal Home. Feast your eyes on the wide-open sky with dramatic sunsets and star-filled nights that are often dark enough to see the Milky Way.
External structures include a large barn with parking available for one car, a retired vintage chicken coop with a screened-in porch, and remnants of stone walls. The front yard (12 acres) includes a picnic table, fire ring with stone "seats." There is walking and hiking on the property and a private dock and float that reaches 7-foot depth at high tide (and 0 feet at low tide). Two kayaks are available for paddling with access to beautiful sites such as Ovens Mouth Preserve (1.4 mi). Wildlife includes deer, Canada Geese, Bald Eagles, Osprey, Great Blue Herons, Northern Cardinals, woodcocks, woodpeckers, and smaller birds. Apple picking (red and green) in season.
Short drives from the property offer extensive options for outdoor enjoyment including land preserves such as Singing Meadows and 20 more operated by the Boothbay Region Land Trust. The nearby Dodge Point Public Land has miles of trails, swimming, fishing, picnics and is about 15 minutes away by car.
Edgecomb is a quiet town with very close attractions such as Blanchard's Creamery offering homemade, small-batch ice cream. Edgecomb Potters studio sells beautiful, hand-crafted porcelain pottery that is made on site. A variety of shops, supermarkets, pubs, and restaurants – including famous Red's Eats – are nearby. For golfers, the Boothbay Harbor Country Club is 10 minutes away.
