We had a great time at the house on Lake Nubanusit. We've been coming here for years, and always love it. The house is comfortable, the lake is wonderful, and the surrounding area has lots to explore. A lovely place for a relaxing vacation with family or friends.
We had a lovely family vacation. The house is comfortable and spacious and we love being able to have everyone together. Kathryn is wonderfully helpful and responsive!
This is a nice lake house on a great lake with a lot of amenities. Our family enjoyed spending time on the lake and loved that the house was dog friendly. There is plenty of space for a large family and it was great to have access to a grill, the kayaks, a fire pit, floats and chairs. We had a great week.

We're so glad to hear that you enjoyed your trip to lake Nubanusit!
Seven adults and two dogs stayed very comfortably for the week. We loved swimming in the lake seeing the nearby hiking trails. I had a boat and was able to enjoy some fishing also.
We had a terrific week at the house on Lake Nubanusit. We’ve been coming here for years. The house is great, just as described in the listing, the lake is beautiful, and we love the surrounding area. A lovely place for a family gathering
We had a lovely week at Lake Nubanusit! The water is beautiful, the house is spacious and comfortable for an extended family group and the town of Hancock is peaceful and charming. We enjoyed days of swimming, paddling and tubing for the kids and also had a wonderful hike at the nearby Harris Center.
My family has been coming to this house on beautiful Lake Nuanusit for many years. it's a terrific house - comfortable, spacious, and a terrific location, with lots of great running and biking options, in addition to swimming, kayaking and canoing on the lake. The house is as advertised, with plenty of amenities.
Lake was wonderful! Cottage roomy enough and comfortable for all. The owners provided every kind of floating device that our grandchildren could hope for! Loads of family fun, swimming, kayaking, floating. Looking forward to next year!

We're so glad to hear you had a great stay, and look forward to welcoming you back in the future!
We love our summer lake week enjoying the water, the loons and the beautiful setting! Kathryn is wonderful with communications and answers every question promptly. There are kayaks and a paddle board available and a firepit near the lake.
We enjoyed staying at this lovely, rustic house on Nubanusit Lake. Lake is wonderful, very quiet.
The house is older, plenty of character, comfortable, good-sized kitchen, lots and lots of books! A bit of a walk down to the lake, and there's no dock, but the lake is clean, quiet, beautiful, and there are kayaks, a canoe, and a rowboat. Dogs are welcome, a huge plus for us. We enjoyed being on Nubanusit Lake and certainly would consider returning. Owners are responsive and helpful.

We're so glad to hear that you and your dogs enjoyed your stay!
My Family and I enjoyed our stay. The cabin is very large and very well equipped. The bedrooms are large and very comfortable, enough room for everyone. The water was pristine perfect for our granddaughter. Kayak and fishing were an added bonus. We went on one of the busiest times of the year and were pleasantly surprised on how quiet and serene it was. We had a great time and would certainly like to revisit .. Thank you for sharing your little piece of serenity with us ...
This lake house was the perfect location and set up for a memorable lake/mountain vacation! The house itself was well equipped with lots of space for my family and dogs. The lake is pristine and is surrounded by preserves so very few other homes on the lake. The beach and dock set up were perfect for hanging out and there were kayaks for everyone! The wildlife was exceptional,: Bald eagles, hawks, great blue herons, loons and wild turkeys! The Harris Center is right down the road with many great hiking trails and programs. And the town of Hancock has so much history! We really enjoyed our stay and hope to be back again.

We're so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay! We'd love to welcome you back in the future.
This property was just about perfect--beautiful and rustic house with lots of sitting options, remote setting, gorgeous clean lake, fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and laundry, linens and all the amenities provided. It was not very clean, with cobwebs and dirt in the corners, dirty windows, and a few bugs and spiders in the kitchen cabinets. But, overall, the property was very comfortable, in a perfect location, with great lake access, and we all had a lovely vacation.

Our BIG CHILL week
What a wonderful week I had at the house. The house was shared by 8 other good friends with a day visit from 2 more. We were all friends back in the 60's and had no problem with conversation. Lots of stories were retold and new ones heard. The weather was the best, possibly of the whole summer. Some of us took daily hikes on the trails nearby while most of us were happy to enjoy time by and in the water. Every couple took a night preparing dinner (the kitchen was very well equipped)and on our last night we went to the Waterhouse in Peterborough which we would all highly recommend. The fact that we had 3 dogs to share in the adveture was an added bonus. They loved running up and down the trail to the beach and hunting for the chipmunks that lived in the rocks by the water. It was so peaceful and relaxing , especially at sunset annd again in bed listening to the call of the loons. The house was perfect for our group and I look forward to a revisit. Thank you so much for this opportunity to relax, laugh, and spend quality time with old friends.

Pristine lake but cleanliness lacking in lakehouse
For the price we were actually pretty surprised at the stained and unclean mattress pads as well as cobwebs all over. It did not appear there was more than a vacuuming of the floors. We also had to wipe down the refrigerator and clean hair and mold out of the showers.
The BBQ grills were pretty grimy and the kitchen trash can was pretty dirty. I would strongly recommend that the owners have a long talk with Rachel about her housecleaning abilities.
At night there were critters in the ceiling above the downstairs bedroom.
All that being said, the house was nice and roomy and the the lake was pristine! We had great fun on the lake and enjoyed the availability of all the kayaks and canoe and toys for the grandson. We were surprised that there was such a distance and a climb on rocks between the house and the lake. That definitely was not indicated in the vrbo description. It would be a difficult walk and climb for some people. Overall, a wonderful lake and location! We did have great weather and enjoyed our stay despite our complaints.

We appreciate constructive criticism and do our best to improve the house. All the sheets are new this year and mattress pads will be due for replacement in the near future. We do our best to keep ahead of the cobwebs, which are unavoidable in the NH woods. We will by all means instruct the cleaner to pay more attention to the drains and refrigerator.

Glorious Lake Nubanusit and Property in need of lots of attention
Over many years we have stayed at a range of homes on beautiful Lake Nubanusit, some that we’ve learned of through family and some through VRBO. We were happy to find a dog friendly place this year. We come back because of proximity to family and the peace of this place and natural environment. This house is sited up a lovely path and away from the lake edge and is a great spot. Most all of the furniture is more than worn out, and slipcovered, the “included” sheets, bedding and towels are ripped, pilled and threadbare. The house was broom clean on much of the first floor, but the one downstairs bedroom had cobwebs on the walls, in frames of artwork on the walls and above the bed. When we tried to wash dishes on the morning of our second day, the kitchen sink was blocked and our multiple attempts at unclogging it were unsuccessful. We called the owner and they quickly called a plumber for service. We filled the tub to bathe our youngest and it too wouldn’t drain. The plumber arrived the following day to tend to these items. There was a large wasp nest outside the kitchen window. We were fortunate there were functional screens. On our last morning I awoke with many, many bites on the backs of my legs. It really made cleaning-up, packing and planning our trip home challenging since the family consensus is that they were bedbug bites, and other that being horrified about this fact we were trying to make sure we did not bring them home. We have rented many homes through VRBO throughout the USA and Europe for close to 20 years. We are consistently conscientious guests, and this was our worst experience. I have to imagine that the intensity and constant nature of rentals in this time of Covid-19 have made upkeep a challenge for owners, but this was too too much.

We are very sorry for the issues you experienced during your stay. We called a professional pest control company and they have thoroughly inspected the house. They found no trace of bed bugs. We are sorry for the scare and for the worry you went through about this.
First time @ this property and was very pleased with the location and accomodations! Comfortable, roomy home with lots of space for everyone to hang out. Plenty of windows to let in the light and see the lake. Kayaks & canoe with life jackets available a big plus! Grandson loved the small beach & toys. Dogs loved the place as well. Thank you for letting us stay in your home.
We really enjoyed our vacation at this property. The water was crystal clear and the kids loved the trampoline. The house was equipped with everything we needed. Lots of room for the family to settle in their favorite spots. We would love to return next summer.
It has been a very hard year for me personally and this vacation, at this spot restored me. The setting is magnificent and the home is spacious.
I am so appreciative of the opportunity to have had this time at the lake!
We are return visitors and always have a great time here. The property and lake front are the real gems. Close to so many great places to hike. Plenty of room to spread out in the house.
This was a wonderful property. It was exactly what we were looking for. A nice clean lake to swim, fish and kayak. The grassy backyard was nice to play some games. The house was big enough to accommodate all of us comfortably. Would definitely rent again!

About the host
Hosted by Kathryn Hulick
The Hulick family has been coming to Lake Nubanusit since Sunnie and Charlie Hulick purchased the property in 1970 as their retirement home and a place for family vacations. Charlie was in the foreign service, and they moved from France to Germany and back to the States as their son David and daughter Diana grew up. You can still find reminders of their international travel in the house if you look around! Now, David resides in a small NH town just 30 minutes away from Lake Nubanusit. His children and grandchildren get together every year during the summer to enjoy the lake.
What makes this property unique
Lake Nubanusit is a well-kept secret. Most people in New England have never heard of it -- and instead travel to the lakes region farther north. Since most the lake shoreline is a nature preserve, you won't find very many other people out on the lake most days. Also, the lake has exceptional water quality with 50 foot visibility and a rocky, sandy bottom. A pair of nesting bald eagles has called the lake home for about ten years, and if you're lucky you'll see them circling overhead or even catching fish.
One of our favorite things to do at the lake house towards the end of the summer is to kayak or canoe across to the nature preserve and pick blueberries. You won't believe how big and juicy those wild blueberries get! We also love hiking mount monadnock, or visiting the shops in nearby peterborough, nh.
