Gorgeous 1BR apt/Capitol Hill/Eastern Market Entire rental unit in Washington

There is truly no better location in the city! The flat is a light-filled and airy English basement with two private entrances. Amenities include kitchenette, Keurig coffee maker, private bath, cozy living room, queen size bed in bedroom, and a queen size memory foam sofa bed in living area. Walk to historic Eastern Market to shop for unique foods and antiques. Walk or metro 12 blocks to Capitol, the White House, Smithsonian, and the Mall.

Our home has 3 floors. Owners occupy 2+3. Guests occupy all of the first floor.

Guests enjoy full access to the entire lower level as well as garden and patio. The kitchenette includes a microwave and Keurig.

Please note that the fireplace pictured is strictly ornamental. It is not operational.

No smoking (including e-cigarettes) or open flame candles of any kind allowed on property.

No overnight unauthorized guests. Exceptions can be made prior to arrival.

The location in DC was great. Grocery store and restaurants nearby (including great coffee shop on PA Avenue). Really close to eastern market Metro and walking distance to Mall. (Not sure why there’s some reference to a Vineyard. This was not a winery tour.) Paul and Judy were very responsive.

Perfect weekend

This apartment is right across the street from the historical Hill Center that hosts free community concerts weekends through the summer. The location is 5 minutes from the Eastern Market and all kinds of incredible shops. The apartment is cozy, clean and private. Judy and Paul are so lovely! Highly recommended

Judy and Paul were wonderful hosts. The house was beautiful and the apartment was perfect for us. It was clean, comfortable, and they have thought of and provided very thing that we might need. The location was perfect for us.We were close to the Capital, National Mall and museums. It is near the Metro and shopping. Fresh market is only about a mile away. That was very convenient for us.They responded very quickly to our questions. We appreciated the information.We were able to park right in front of their house, which was very nice.I would recommend this property. Paul and Judy answered all questions and requests, but didn’t seem to want to engage with us at all. We had to ask for air conditioning a couple of times, which we had no control of. The kitchen was very sparsely supplied. The sitting area was great, although the TV Internet kept cutting out. Lodgers should be aware that the bed is very close to the wall.

We're so glad we stayed at this beautiful apartment in the Capitol Hill area. The hosts happened to be in the unit above when we arrived; they greeted us and kindly offered assistance if we'd needed any at check in. The apartment was nicely decorated, comfortable, and clean. Wi-fi worked great. This location was perfect for our 3-night DC stay. There are lots of delicious restaurant options, retail shops, parks, museums, activities, etc. all conveniently within walking distance. The Eastern Market metro stop is just a couple blocks away. While we never moved our car during the stay, having a parking spot in front of the apartment was a huge plus.

We absolutely love our neighborhood and can't wait to share all the fun our city has to offer with our guests.

What makes this property unique

We are in the historic district of Capitol Hill. Owner Robert N. Harper hired architect B. Stanley Simmons to build the house in 1898. The building permit listed an estimated cost of $7,000. Except for the brick walls, the house was entirely renovated in 2018, the year we purchased it. The house faces the "Hill Center"— originally a Civil War hospital built circa 1865 which occupies that entire block.

In our view, 923 E ST SE is one of the most secure homes on Capitol Hill. In addition to our 3 security cameras, our property is surrounded by a six-foot brick wall topped by an additional three feet of iron bar railing. We feel secure in our home and we are confident are guests feel the same way.
