We were in Bakersville for a relative’s birthday party. The property was exactly what we needed and was very convenient to the b-day party location. Place was clean, and comfortable. Front porch is a great place for morning coffee and relaxing. Owner was very responsive and helpful. We will stay there again.

The setting is lovely with a nice Mountain View. The area is quiet and convenient to Roan Mountain hiking, Bakersville, Burnsville and Spruce Pine. The kitchen is well equipped. There’s plenty of porch seating. If you like a soft bed, you’ll be comfortable. The flood lights that stay on all night made it so that we had to keep all the curtains closed to sleep. There are many cameras ringing the property in addition to Ring doorbell, so privacy was a concern. Motion sensor lights out front made star gazing a challenge. It’s a nice cabin, but the security measures did not lend a welcoming relaxing feeling.

Johannah sorry, the motion light made looking at The Stars a challenge. The simple solution would have been just text or call, and I could have told you where the switch is to turn them off instead of flipping the front motion light up side down by force According to our cleaning lady now the floodlight is upside down and she's too short to reach it To fix it. Again a simple text, and I could have told you where the switch is to turn it off instead of forcibly turning the motion sensor light upsidedown Most people want to have the light when they're out walking in front of the house or in the back. It's pitch dark in the mountains. And if you're concerned about ring cameras, the porch ring camera is offline When guests are at the house, all trail cameras are turned away from the house to give you privacy. In this day and age of ring cameras and cameras everywhere i would not think they would be a problem Sorry they where this is the first time anybody has ever brought something like that up to us.

Beautiful Home, Great Host, Slightly sketchy bridge…

This home was the perfect place for our small family. I will start by saying, this property is exactly as advertised and honestly even better than expected. The owner has taken great care to ensure that guest are comfortable and have everything they need (down to the towel warmer you didn’t know you needed). It was very clean, so much so we had no concern letting our 6 month old work on crawling on the hardwood floors. The porch is a great place to relax with a coffee or beverage. Peace and quiet with only wildlife around but all the amenities of home. Bed were super soft (if you like a firm bed, there is a daybed in the office that is firmer). The views from the master are what mountain houses are made for. The next is only for warning not a negative. If you are looking for something close to stores, etc this is not it. The nearest store is a Dollar general about 15 minutes away, everything else is 30 minutes which was exactly what we wanted. Also keep in mind this area was heavily affected by flooding in 2024 so the bridge into the location while completely safe will raise the anxiety of just about any mom. There is no cell phone service (WiFi works great) on the property. Johann the host was extremely responsive. If you are looking for a quiet, semi disconnected stay with great views and amenities book here, you won’t regret it.

Krystle and family, from start to finish, had great communication, followed all rules And the house was absolutely clean The way you would take care of your own house. Hosting her and her family was a pure delight, stress, free and the type of family You would always want and welcome to stay anytime. Someone you can trust.
