It makes us happy that our efforts are appreciated. As a true “vacation rental by owner”, we want our guests to feel at home during their stay.
The house was well appointed, very comfortable, and in a location with lovely forest views. Conveniently located, yet serene and secluded. Everyone in our party said it's the best Tahoe ski vacation rental we've ever done.

Thank you so much. We’d love to have you back! It’s a pleasure to have guests who appreciate our home and the care we put into hosting.
We had a nice time staying at Leslie’s cabin. The backyard was great for my 2 year old. We were out of TP on the first day and the property manager came over promptly to restock.

Thank you, Danielle. I’m happy you enjoyed your stay at Willow Wood.
Very good stay. Would have given 5 stars but the promo for the house said it had air conditioning, it doesn't. However, the house is very well appointed and comfortable. Great hot tub. Perfect way to end the day. The location is ideal as it is at the end of the road so you are surrounded by glorious forest. There is great hiking close by and of course the lake is beautiful.
This mountain home is beautiful. Location is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts. It is within walking distance to restaurants, hiking/biking tails, parks (for kids) and the beach. Kitchen is well stocked. Comfortably slept our party of 8. Thank you for hosting us! We look forward to staying here again.

Thank you so much for your review. We appreciate how well you cared for our home during your stay and will welcome you back when you’re able to visit Tahoe again.
We had such a great stay over the Labor Day weekend at Leslie and Tim’s place. It is a beautiful house in a quiet neighborhood located right next to the forest. It is well equipped for adults and teenagers. We hiked, played ping pong, went in the hot tub, and just enjoyed some great family time together. Highly recommended by a family that loves to travel and has stayed in many rentals over the years. One suggestion that we thought of to improve the experience even more would be getting more bicycles (we only saw 1 next to the garage). That way families can go biking together during their visit. Thanks again for sharing your beautiful home with us Leslie and Tim!

About the host
Hosted by Leslie Smith
Tim and Leslie are retired teachers who reside in the Willow Wood Cottage for most of the year. We like to travel and have grandchildren in Colorado so have opened it up to guests when we aren't at home. We think this gives guests a more authentic Tahoe experience with all the amenities one would expect from a home that is lived in and not just a short-term rental.
We have lived on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe since 2010, but before that we lived nearby in the Sierra Foothills. With our three children we frequented the Tahoe area in all seasons for boating, biking, skiing, camping and enjoying the mountains. Both of us came to Tahoe as children with our families, and Tim spent a ski season here after college. We continue to ski, bike, paddle, and hike and our adult children and grandchildren spend as much time as they can here. Tahoe, in general, and this cottage holds special memories for us all.
We have been active in making our Timberland neighborhood a Fire Wise Community. Working closely with the North Tahoe Fire District, Forest Service, CA State Parks, and the Tahoe Conservancy, all of which manage the forest surrounding Timberland, we have done due diligence in making our community as safe as possible from wildland fires. Encouraging neighbors to create and maintain defensible space and doing so ourselves, is a long-term commitment to which we are dedicated.
Why they chose this property
We live in a quiet neighborhood with a mix of full and part time residents. We love the location- not too far from town, close to the amenities of Tahoe Park, and close to the lake.
What makes this property unique
Our property is unique in that is is located at the end of a narrow lane and backs onto a large piece of Forest Service property. It offers beautiful views in all seasons, wildlife viewing, easy hiking, biking, and x-country skiing/snowshoeing out the back door. A short walk through the woods or down the street takes you to the beach at Hurricane Bay.
