Home was cozy and fit our family perfectly. The home had everything we needed for our stay. Loved having a stocked kitchen and grill outside to use. Thankful for lots of kids toys for our kids to play with.
The house was great for family staying for a wedding in the neighborhood. The neighborhood is quiet, wooded and beautiful. I would definitely stay again. Thank you for sharing your house with us.

Thank YOU, Beth. I enjoyed working with you! I know it was a wonderful wedding!!
The property was exactly as advertised, with plenty of space for our group of 8 and an amazing layout that felt both cozy and functional. The neighborhood was absolutely breathtaking, and the views gave a sense of complete seclusion and tranquility. The owner was incredibly attentive throughout our stay and made everything seamless. If we return to Sugar Mountain, we will definitely stay here again!

Warm Home
Our family spent Christmas in the house at Grandfather and had a wonderful time. Fireplace was excellent and the comfortable seating for everyone to enjoy it.Covered in snow when we arrived and more fresh snow fell while we were there. Abundant sledding and just a warm relaxed holiday break. I look forward to our return.

Clean, cozy, beautiful mountain home with wonderful owner
We had a terrific time at Georgia's house. It was the best VRBO experience I've ever had. The house was warm and welcoming. It had everything we wanted ... beautiful fireplace with lots of wood, comfy furniture, high quality kitchen gear, big room for spending time together, separate quarters for quiet time, and a hammock! Georgia was incredibly friendly and helpful. She has a guidebook with instructions down to the last detail, which even allowed us to record the Auburn - Alabama game and watch it later successfully. Getting in and out was simple. And the property of the Grandfather Mountain Country Club was gorgeous and peaceful. We really felt lucky to be able to spend time here. It's a special place. Thank you, Georgia!

Wedding weekend
The furnishings are tired especially in the living room and should be replaced. Doors are beat up, and we were unaware the upstairs was accessed by a tight spiral staircase. The gutters have plants growing out if them which gives the property an unkept appearance. Overall the property desperately needs some tlc and I probably won’t rent it again.

I am sorry that this guest felt compelled to review a property in which he did NOT reside. He rented our mountain home for wedding guests who must not have seen our website pictues.
The pictures clearly show the spiral staircase. My football playing family have negotiated these stairs with ease for many years, and our grandchildren love them.
Our "outdated" furniture is real genuine leather. It is oversized, extremely comfortable, and adds to the warm ambience of our home. Other guests have commented on the ample size and even inquired about its source. We will not be "updating" our furniture.
I am grateful to Neil for alerting me to the gutters. I will have that remedied immediately.
Our mountain home is not modern, plastic, and cold. It is warm, welcoming and cozy.
We stayed at this home to attend Grandfather Mountain Highland Games. The furniture is very comfortable - probably the most comfortable bed I've slept in at a vacation rental. We used the refrigerator, ovens and coffee maker and everything worked great. There was a trail from the back door that leads to MacRae Meadows, but it was difficult to follow and appeared to not be well travelled. It was also quite strenuous, but very cool to be able to walk to Grandfather Mountain and not have to deal with parking. There was some confusion at check in with the security guard, and issuing access passes for the gated community, but the owner was very responsive and helpful in getting that straightened out quickly. We had a few other questions, about the coffee maker and the trail, and the owner was always very kind and helpful.
We all had a great time in this house. It was very comfortable for our group of 7 adults and the mountain setting was spectacular. The entrance to Grandfather Mountain is nearby, but if you're there for leaf peeping or the highland games, be prepared for traffic. Communication with the homeowners was very good.
Georgia Hayes has a beautiful home and was an attentive host. Grandfather is a awesome neighborhood and the house was perfect for our football weekend in the mountains. Quiet and spacious home was very comfortable for 8 guest. Highly recommend
We stayed again at Georgi and Roger’s house and they were wonderful. This time was not so cold and we even bbqed outside. Great place to go in a very nice gated community.
Georgia is very sweet and organized we arrived at the house and everything was perfect. The house has a great energy and is within a very nice gated community. Close to sugar mountain ski slopes it is very convenient and also closer to Charlotte International aIrport compared to other houses we’ve seen. Our kids loved the cottage and had a great time. 10 out of 10
We enjoyed the location and coziness of the property!
The owners were very hands on! I texted and called her and she responded immediately to my questions. The home was large and spacious and very cozy. We kept a fire burning the entire weekend!
Had a great time. Skied the first day and it was excellent. Was snowed in the next two days.
We enjoyed our stay even though we were snowed in the last two days. Enjoyed sledding down the driveway and played a lot of games. Was thankful that we could stay the extra day until we could get plowed out. Thank you so much Mrs. Hayes
Great location in regard to sightseeing/shopping/dining opportunities. Beautiful views. The house felt spacious. The kitchen & pantry was wonderfully equipped with the basic cooking tools, utensils and condiments/spices needed to prepare/serve meals. Great host communication availability. Although furnishings were dated (was having nostalgic moments of growing up in the 70's) all countertops surfaces were clean and things were in working order. Overall a good stay. However, the only thing I wish I would have known prior to booking was that most of the main living areas are dated carpet in a home that hosts pets. Would not recommend for anyone asthmatic or suffers with allergies (which was half of my group).
Spent such a wonderful Thanksgiving here with our family and felt right at home in the best way! Could not have been more comfortable or felt more cared for - the home is just that, a home, so it’s well-stocked (everything from fuzzy blankets and firewood to gourmet seasonings) and easy to love. Georgia was the most gracious and welcoming host, plus the Grandfather club grounds were stunning. We will absolutely be back!
We enjoyed our stay. If you need the most up to date appliances and fancy accommodations you won't be happy. But we were quite comfortable. We did lose power one night (whole community did) for a couple hours during the rain and were without water (well pump) and lights but that is not unusual for a mountain area. We had hoped we could walk up the hillside to the Highland Games at Grandfather Mountain. The guys did manage to make it up the day before the games but it involved heavy bush-wacking and avoiding poison ivy. There is no trail that goes all the way up that we could find and there were some areas that could have resulted in serious injury if we'd fallen. I wouldn't recommend the hike, especially not at night. We ended up taking the shuttle bus for the games. The place did smell musty when we arrived as someone else mentioned, but once we opened the windows and aired it out, it was fine. Probably needs a dehumidifier in the house and I would recommend the owner replace the carpeting with wood or other hard surface flooring to help get rid of the damp musty smell.
We enjoyed our stay at GG CC. It is a beautiful place. The house was nice and had everything needed. It was a perfect t location . We would rent it again. It is difficult to find one in the country club and we were thankful to find it.. The renter, Georgia was a lovely host.

About the host
Hosted by Georgia Hayes
Roger and I are both from North Carolina. He was a Duke University football player and I was a UNC Chapel Hill Homecoming Queen You can imagine the rivalry in our household during March Madness! We have been married 44 years. Since we both grew up close to Charlotte (Monroe and Gastonia), we decided to raise our family there. The mountains have always been our retreat. For Roger, being an avid golfer and outdoor enthusiast, this was a perfect place. Needless to say, it was “love at first sight” when we discovered this lovely mountain home. We knew immediately that we had to have it. At that time, Roger worked for Bank of America and I owned a software business. We have both since retired and have spent many summers here in bliss. We have wonderful memories at our home at Grandfather Golf and Country Club and know you will enjoy it as much as our family and friends have! -Georgia “Peach” & Roger
Why they chose this property
We purchased this particular property due it's feeling of privacy, nature and wilderness in the safety of a gated community with every amenity just outside the gates. We love to hike and experience the wonders of nature, but also the privacy and solitude of our very special home. It's the best of all worlds.
What makes this property unique
You''ll see wild turkeys and deer strutting down or across the driveway. There are hiking trails nearby. McRae Meadows where the Highland Games are held, is only a few miles away. You can hear their music during the second weekend in July. The beautiful Grandfather Mountain attraction with its mile high swinging bridge is closeby.
