We had a fun and relaxing time at the cabin while escaping the awful heat back home. Great place for all ages. A hike to MtMitchell, jumping rocks in the creek, s’mores over the fire, lots of games, reading on the back porch rockers, and sketching the view of the creek.
Does it get any better than a week with family, in a cabin outside of town, with no cell service? Plenty of room, great view, constant sound of rushing water and an amazing view of the creek.
Very spacious cabin. Very peaceful and quiet. Nice hiking trail after the road ends. This place is getting back to nature...no phones, no internet....loved it.
Roomy living room/kitchen combo and cozy den, each with a fireplace. Stunning location with a view and sounds of the creek from the deck. S’mores at the firepit, rock hopping on the creek, hiking “the little loop”, trips to Asheville and Burnsville.

Adorable!
We had the *BEST* time. The Owners are really great to work with and we enjoyed every moment. Sitting on the porch in the rockers with morning coffee, listening to the creek rushing below and the birds singing... beautiful serenity. We will visit again!
Nice cabin, nicely equipped kitchen. Lots of clean towels and linens, extra blankets...yes we did need those. Driveway is a bit steeper than we expected. Burnsville is a nice small town and we enjoyed the change from Tampa.
We had a great stay at the cabin in Cattail Creek. It was well stocked with kitchenware, linens, board games, outdoor chairs for the firepit and some wood. There’s plenty of room to gather together or find a spot to be alone. Great back porch with view of the creek. Although a few days were cooler than usual, we were warm and cozy. The kids loved being so close to the creek for rock- hopping. I’d recommend tying a balloon at the top of the driveway since other family or friends could miss it. Overall, many good memories were made.
This is my sixth time staying at Rock Ridge. It remains one of my favorite places on earth. The hiking around the cabin can't be beat (check out the 9-mile out-and-back hike up to Deep Gap, as well as the short hike over to Twin Falls, all right off Deep Gap Road), and the cabin itself makes for a lovely, restful retreat once you're done hiking/exploring for the day. The water isn't safe for drinking, but safe for bathing/teeth brushing for those with normal immune systems. I am immunocompromised and brush with bottled water and have not had any issues. The view from the back porch is one of the best in the community. Pierre is a lovely host and is always available through the app for any questions or concerns. They've made some recent improvements to the cabin as well, making it an even better place to stay! You'll love your time here!
Great cabin for spending quality time with loved ones. Layout is perfect for it. Just what my family needed to recharge our batteries. The host provides a lot of helpful information beforehand, and I particularly enjoyed the various suggestions or tips posted throughout the cabin. Rather thoughtful. We'll definitely be back one day.

Liked: Communication, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Cleanliness
Great location and nice cabin, but unfortunately it was not clean. We had to wipe everything down. There were so many cobwebs and dust bunnies and general uncleanliness that we felt very uncomfortable.
Spent birthday with family and twin sister, including 88 year old mother. Plenty of room to spread out. Quiet, peaceful surroundings. Spent much of the time sitting on the back porch which overlooked a small waterfall. A little piece of heaven.
We loved the cottage. Plenty of room for our family of 5 and tje 2 little dogs. We loved tje creek below and the vidit from the bears 🐻. We loved beimg able to have a fire pit for bonfires.
We lost power for 2 hours no big deal.
We have stayed at this cabin 3 times. Very cozy cabin and beautiful location. The owner is always very responsive to our needs. We will be back!
Thank you
Best vacation rental I have ever experienced! Price, cleanliness, communication with property managers and overall experience was incredible! Ready to return to this exact spot when we come back to the area again!
Perfect summer escape from the heat in a lovely cabin by the creek! We love the cattail creek community for its remoteness, perfect mountain vacation environment, closeness to Burnsville, difficult hikes, and coolness in the shade of Mt Mitchell. This cabin had easy access to Cattail Creek, thoughtful appointments, comfortable beds, a secluded yard - was perfect, and we will definitely be back. It was also a great spot for a well behaved dog who doesn’t need a fenced in yard.
Some notes for future guests - the neighborhood is on mountain roads…some of the rentals we have had here recommend 4 wheel drive, but this cabin was easy to access in the mini van. They do not recommend drinking the water in this rental, so make sure and bring jugs of water for your use.
Thanks for sharing such a special place. Looking forward to returning!
This stay was wonderful. It was the perfect place for me and my senior, best friend, dog. We have a wonderful, restful, quiet, peaceful time. Listening and watching to the creek ramble over the rocks below, while having coffee and reading on the deck was fabulous! We hope to come back again soon.
Two years ago we first visited and the updates add to the charm of the cabin. It has everything we need for our diverse group of 4 adults, 3 young kids, and 2 dogs. The location is breathtaking and provides multiple adventures in the creek along the waterfall or walking on the local roads. The location has a few quirks that come with age and the reality of cleaning a cabin in the woods. We loved the place because it provides so many different kinds of entertainment for our family.
