Before mid-century modern architecture became the Palm Springs norm, Spanish Colonial Revival was prevalent in Palm Springs and elsewhere in Southern California. The style is a melding of Spanish Baroque, Italian, Mexican and Moorish influences blended with the adobe building traditions of Native Americans. Primarily built In the 1930's, the homes feature red clay tile roofs, adobe walls, white stucco finish, wood-beamed ceilings, arched doorways, painted brick walls along with wrought iron embellishments and motor courts.
Built in 1935, Casa De Estrella is an authentic Spanish Colonial Revival that was lovingly restored by JS Design, Hermosa Beach. For the homeowner, the restoration was a journey to create a peaceful sanctuary, a step back in time and a respite from their daily chaos. They endeavored to keep the character of the home intact during every step of the restoration, preserving many of the original light fixtures, cabinetry and hardware.
The 2,608 sq ft home features 3 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, a formal entry, stylish kitchen with updated appliances, butler pantry, formal living room with fireplace, dining room that seats six, spacious den with a Queen sofa sleeper plus a sunroom with wet bar. All three bedroom suites have King-size beds and ensuite bathrooms.
Casa De Estrella is situated on a third of an acre corner lot that boasts panoramic mountain views and is located in the historic Palm Springs neighborhood of Old Las Palmas. This upscale community is walking distance to the shops, restaurants and art galleries of both the Uptown Design District and downtown Palm Springs. The grounds are fully walled, have privacy hedges and feature resort amenities including a pool with cascading spa, two fire pits, six chaise lounge chairs, Bocce Ball Court, ping pong table and even a pool bathroom. A unique feature of Casa De Estrella is its stand-alone covered patio that features alfresco dining for eight, a hammock, an L-shaped sofa, two ceiling fans, ambient lighting plus stunning West-facing mountain views. There is also a four-car private garage and a large driveway.
The Master bedroom features a King-size bed, eight-drawer dresser, ensuite bathroom, large closet, ceiling fan, 40" TV and mountain view. The ensuite bathroom has a walk-in shower.
The two guest bedrooms each feature King-size beds, ensuite bathrooms, 40" TVs, dressers, ceiling fans and lots of windows that fill the rooms with natural light. One of the ensuites has a walk-in shower while the other has a tub/shower combo.
This is where I usually describe the living room. While Casa De Estrella has an extraordinary living room, it's the two very spacious bonus rooms that offer guests the extra space you won't find in most vacation rentals. The sunroom overlooks the pool, spa, fire pit and covered patio through a wall of windows that allows natural light to stream in and illuminate the entire space. On one side of the room is a casual sitting area with four chairs and a coffee table. On the other side is a rustic wet bar with beverage refrigerator and five bar stools. Like the sunroom, the den features a wall of windows. Through them are panoramic mountain views. Its seating area consists of a Queen-size sofa sleeper, coffee table and side chair. There is also a full bathroom with tub/shower combo.
The living room is rustic, warm and comfortable and includes saltillo tile floors, a pitched wood ceiling and a cozy fireplace. The couch and side chairs can accommodate six people in front of a 65" TV. There is even a piano. The adjacent formal dining room comfortably seats six and is conveniently located next to the butler's pantry and full kitchen.
The kitchen has white quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, and a classic black and white floor design. It's also incredibly well stocked for the gourmet cook. It features a 6-burner stove, oven, microwave, drip coffee maker, dishwasher, and refrigerator/freezer.
Casa De Estrella is located in the desirable neighborhood of Old Las Palmas. From the backyard, you will enjoy mountain views to your South and West. A four-car garage with 220V EV Receptical, washer/dryer and WiFi distance complete this authentic Spanish colonial revival luxury vacation home.

The house and yard were amazing. The beds were comfy and the bathrooms were nice. The kitchen was well equipped. There was lots of outdoor furniture and the pool was a good size. We’d love to stay there again.
We had a lot to do with the sunny days at the house-- ping pong already set up in shade, pool with mini basket ball net, spa!! Also brought our other loved ones with us, our dogs. Very dog friendly, too.
Our family had a wonderful stay at Casa De Estrella. The home is magnificent. Such charm. The grounds and pool are exceptional. And the neighborhood was wonderful. Had so much fun taking walks. Kenny takes care of every detail and request.
Great place in a great location. So clean, so charming! Loved the house and the tasteful remodel that retained all that was good with the original home. Thank you for opening up your house for visitors to experience!
Stunning property in a quiet neighborhood that is close to top notch restaurants! The backyard is very private with gorgeous views of the mountains. Loved the ping pong and bocce! Would stay here again in a second!
Wonderful house in a fantastic location. Awesome pool setup and plenty of spaces throughout the home. Property manager was very communicative. The AC worked very well on hot days!
The home was clean, true to its era in wonderful condition. Loved the pool, beds are great, kitchen was really nice, great appliances. The neighborhood is quiet and beautiful, evening walls are welcoming.
1.Beautiful home and amenities inside and out
2.Thermostat issues were solved over time
3. Property had all that was needed for a true vacation under very hot weather conditions
4. We plan to return in the future.
We throughly enjoyed the property and Andrew was wonderful and accommodating thru our stay. Beds were very comfortable and house had everything we needed inside and out. Air conditioning worked perfectly and maintained a pleasant cool space! The pool and patio area was wonderful and provided seating and space to enjoy shade or sunshine. The location can’t be beat! Close enough to walk to downtown if you desire. Nice to have garage parking and electric vehicle plug in as well! We can’t wait to return!
This Spanish house is one of the best rentals we have ever stayed at in Palm Springs. The location is in one of the top neighborhoods in Palm Springs and the desert. So fun to walk around and look at all the neighboring estates!Kenny made the check in process so easy with my kids and dogs in tow. The house itself is historic and super charming, very clean and a great layout for families or friends so you feel like you have enough privacy between the rooms. Also great all rooms have en suite bathrooms! I love that they kept all of the original details in the house. The pool was heated and the spa also heated up quickly whenever you wanted to use it. Plenty of outdoor space to hang out and dine outside. You can also easily walk to some nearby restaurants — the Arrive hotel is close by as well. If I could own a home in the desert, this one would be it! Can’t wait to come back.
We'd been wanting to stay in the Old Las Palmas area of PS and were able to book Casa Estrella for a family getaway. Andrew was an excellent host, remaining in contact and available for anything, and the house was in superb condition. The house would be great for 3 couples as all bedrooms are spread out and en suite. The pool was wonderful with two young kids (and doors are alarmed, which is very helpful in keeping the littles safe with the pool). One of the best parts was honestly the checkout process- unlike many other rentals that require a load of laundry started, beds stripped, etc, all we had to do was close the doors! The location is easily bikeable (our #1 requirement) to restaurants, coffee, etc. Would stay here again in a heartbeat! Thanks to Andrew for a relaxing weekend away.
From beginning to end we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa de Estrella in Old Las Palmas. Andrew, the property manager, was wonderful, very easy to communicate with and very accommodating. He met us at the property to show us around and answered all our questions and responded very quickly to any requests. The home was very clean, comfortable, and very lovely! The beds were very comfortable (although a little too soft for my taste). The house is bright, the grounds are beautiful. There was even a grapefruit tree with delicious grapefruits! We used the grill to cook and ate outside on the lovely table and enjoyed the view and the night sky. This home has a lot of character and has retained its charm. The neighborhood is wonderful and we walked to shopping and to restaurants. All of our guests loved staying at Casa de Estrella. Highly recommend it!
Just a lovely house in a wonderful neighborhood. We loved how it had been lovingly remodeled and beautifully furnished with the 1940’s style kept intact. Pool was perfect and outside spaces delightful especially the dining and sitting areas under shade. Very good communication with property manager. We would love to stay here again.
We immensely enjoyed our stay, and are a repeat guest at this fantastic Palm Springs home. Spacious home, fantastic pool and jacuzzi, and gorgeous views in every room. Andrew the property manager is excellent and very responsive. We hope to say here again!
This is a beautiful property - even the great photos don't do it justice. The house is beautifully furnished, and so comfortable. We escaped March in New England for a week here with our two young adult daughters to soak up some sun and warmth, and it more than lived up to expectations. It's a very spacious place, with lots of cute nooks and places for people to hang out or find a private place to make calls. The pool and hot tub were wonderful, and everything inside and out was very clean and sparkling! We mostly ate out at the wonderful, close by restaurants, but the kitchen also had everything we needed. The neighborhood was lovely, and so close to the restaurants, hikes and other Palm Springs attractions. We'd love to come back another time and stay longer! Andrew was a great host, and was very quick to answer any questions that came up. Thanks for hosting us!
Family of four, including two teenagers from Chicago throughly enjoyed our stay at Casa de Estrella in Old Las Palmas. Teens loved the pool, hot tub and ping pong table while adults enjoyed the beautiful mountain and palm tree views from both the front and back yards. Great neighborhood for walking and enjoying lovely mid century and Spanish architecture homes, including some formerly owned or rented by celebrities. Location is very close to downtown Palm Springs shopping and restaurants. House was clean, beds comfortable. Pictures are an accurate description. Andrew was a great host and we would stay again!
We absolutely LOVED this property for our low key weekend with friends.
Andrew, who managed our stay, was very accommodating to our change in arrival times & we appreciated the personal walkthrough, which meant we weren’t fumbling through a book (tho there is one!) to figure anything out and could begin to enjoy ourselves immediately.
The location is ideal. The neighborhood is SO quiet, but you are literally minutes from great restaurants & fabulous shops.
The house itself has been thoughtfully modernized for comfort, while retaining maximum charm — it is quintessential Palm Springs! Myself and our guests are in the design business — this is a gorgeously appointed place, with an eclectic mix of beautiful, high-end decor. There is an unfussy, casual elegance to it that encourages relaxation and conviviality, with many lovely spots to chat or read.
We appreciated all the extra touches, like the amenity kits, complete bar & serveware, Turkish towels for the pool, bocce ball! The pool and spa are lovely, well-maintained and easy to operate, as are the two fire pits & the wonderful living room fireplace. This is a plug and play experience that wants for nothing.
But the star of the show for us was the spectacular view of the San Jacinto mountains from both the front and backyards. To watch them glow terracotta with the rising sun or cool to a pale purple under the stars in the evening was truly a tonic to our souls. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & highly recommend Casa de Estrellas.
Loved this place. Gorgeously remodeled with brand new amenities but original and traditional to the style of the house. Felt like a resort vacation. Andrew was a great host. Communicative, friendly and responsive. Will definitely stay again!
