Charming 2-bedrm w/Sit Rm on 2nd fl/peaceful house close to Acadia A/C, WiFi
All of the second floor in a traditional 1832 New England cape style home is your home away from home, while you visit Acadia/Blue Hill Peninsula. This quintessential coast of Maine farmhouse property features 2 cozy bedrooms with a Sitting Room between with a mix of sleeping arrangements to accommodate all guests. Enjoy the quaint bathroom with a refreshing shower and hair dryer provided. Fire pit in the backyard yours to use for a quiet evening watching the Summer Stars and the Milky Way appear under Downeast Maine's notorious dark skies. (Use of firepit must get approved by host for legal reasons). Watch stars appear as the sky gets dark and see stars that few can see because of our low light-pollution,
Experience the magic of Morgan Bay within a short walk. Drive 5 minutes to a small beach just a short walk from Perry's Lobster Shack on the water on a one road peninsula lovely for walking or biking. All over-looking the water and mountains of Acadia.
Across the road is the Morgan Bay Zendo, open for a short walk in the Zendo Moss Garden or Sunday meditation, and also the Surry Art Barn both a five minute walk. And, of course, Acadia is a short 35 minute drive away. An added attraction is the Blue Hill Peninsula for climbing Blue Hill Mountain, we call it a "the mountain", it is really a hill with a lovely view of the ocean and again the Acadia Mountains. Drive to the tip of the Blue Hill Peninsula and find Stonington, a lobstering community or take the mailboat to Isle au haut and visit art galleries along the way.
You might want to stay for a couple of nights here. We love pets, but not possible here.
We are in the little village of Morgan Bay, at the cross roads above the bay, close by for a lovely walk. Trusts walks in the forest or along the shore as well. Attend a concert across the road at Surry Arts Barn, or in the other direction across the road attend Sunday morning meditation or walk in the Moss Garden. Just down the road is Margaret's "Little Gallery". Around the corner is a gorgous view of the Acadia Mountains. Whichever direction you choose, you will find beauty and nature.

About the host
Your host

My name is Nancy. I do most of the hosting here. I'm tenth generation Maine on my father's side; my mother was from Boston. I love Maine; it is home. I've kayaked, canoed rivers in the north woods, winter camped, even :-) summer camped, climbed Maine's highest mountain in Summer, Fall, AND Winter roping up with an ice axe. I'm trekked in the Himalayas and studied meditation there, which was an adventure; coming back home to Maine is the best.
After my travels I came back home in the early 2000's to a house that I once dreamed about buying decades earlier, and then I did. Well, I dreamed about buying and fixing it up, My wish came true. It's an 1832 farmhouse and loves attention and visitors.
I'm a psychotherapist, Mindfulness teacher offering courses to students at Colby College, University of Southern Maine and numerous workshops.
I also have Tea House Zen on the property. A small tea house where visitors can be guests.
I'm very active and am often off on a hike, etc.

Why they chose this property
The house is charming filled with antiques. The location is amazing. I love this area because I can:
Walk 5 minutes to Morgan Bay, 5 minutes to a sweet forest meditation center, 5 minutes to the Zendo Moss Garden, 5 minutes to Surry Arts Barn for a concert, and 5 minutes around the corner for a magnificent view of the mountains of Acadia.
Yes, all in 5 minutes!
I can drive 5 minutes to the small Carrying Place Beach; 6 to the Lobster Shack where i eat on the small pier overlooking-what? - the mountains of Acadia, 12 to the village of Blue Hill, biggest Coop in Maine, art galleries, restaurants, beautiful library, 35 to Acadia, 45 to the lobster village of Stonington at the tip of the Blue Hill Peninsular, and oh, 15 minutes to Blue Hill Mountain for a walk with a view of the ocean. Lots of antique shops, restaurants, ice cream, etc. along the way. Even an Opera House or you can take the mail boat out to Isle au haut.
I can walk 7 minutes to trails in the woods or stay right in the back yard with a fire in the fire pit under Downeast Maine's Starry Sky. Due to our low light pollution, I can see stars here that cannot be seen on much of the east coast.
The farmhouse is surrounded by forests, birds, wildlife. Many of my friends are artists and writers. There is character here! I love it!
What makes this property unique
If you want to see Maine, this is it!
This property is a traditional Maine cape farmhouse with two wood stoves. The kitchen wood cookstove is like the one my grandmother had when I was growing up.
If you want suburbia or fancy, don't come here. This has character and is not suburbia; it is rural with lots of to do. Charming. Antiques. Tenth generation Mainer. Quiet. A Maine experience.
We have the only small Tea House that I know of in Maine, a fire pit, and lots of Stars. If you ask, maybe you will borrow the telescope.
In the front of the house is a Moon Garden; all white flowers. When the full moon is out, the flowers have a brilliant light to them. The deer like to eat my flowers and come up to the door steps to eat the mums - but not this year! Magical.
