About this property
In Town and a Quick Walk to Acadia National Park
This newly renovated three-bedroom and two-bath house on Ledgelawn Avenue features a happy backyard, plenty of sleeping area, and a small office where an internationally best-selling novel was written. Really.
There's a grill outside on the deck, a second oven, a big gravel driveway and it's all in incredibly close proximity to Great Meadow Loop (for a hike), the Park Loop Road and in-town Bar Harbor. Lilacs bloom. Birds sing. And it's an incredibly happy place to enjoy Bar Harbor.

The house was perfect for 5 adults and a quick walk to downtown Bar Harbor. Shaun was extremely accommodating when we had to modify our stay and was very responsive. House is very well equipped for cooking and spending quality time together. I would definitely return. We were also welcomed with a delicious homemade blueberry pie and were pleasantly surprised to find.an opened coffee in the cupboard as well. Would highly recommend
We chose this property for the number of beds and short walk to town. It was perfect for our group. The kitchen was one of the most well-stocked we've ever stayed at. There was cone shaped coffee filters, coffee, sugar, sugar-substitute, salt, pepper, various seasonings/spices, plenty of pots/pans/utensils, and a kettle to heat water for tea. The bathrooms were just as well appointed with plenty of towels, handtowels, washcloths, hand soap, toilet tissue, and a hair dryer. We loved all the original artwork, provided games/puzzles, and new outdoor front porch furniture. Having a washer/dryer and provided laundry detergent was a plus as we arrived by airport/rental car and didn't want to haul too much from out of state. We had one hiccup during our visit but the host was quick to respond. Would definitely recommend this house/location/host to all!!
This house held a few friends from a larger hiking group. It was well designed and comfortable and in a great location, only a few blocks walk from the best of Bar Harbor and in a quiet neighborhood
This home was perfect for a family vacation. Our hosts were wonderful and responded so quickly to any questions we had. We will come back for sure! Thank you Shaun!
The house worked great for our family! It was a short walk to get to downtown Bar Harbor and an easy drive to the hiking we wanted to do at Acadia National Park. There was a nice playground just around the corner, too. We would definitely stay here again!
We loved the proximity to both the park (walking and driving) and town. Also right around the corner from a playground that was top notch! Huge playing fields right around the corner as well. Safe, pleasant neighborhood with sidewalk all the way to town. Easy walk for our group of seven. We loved it here. Thank you!
Plenty of room for our family of 6! Kitchen was great for preparing breakfasts and dinners. Accommodations were just as pictured. Couldn’t have asked for a better location to walk into Bar Harbor (get dinner, drinks, ice cream!!), ride a bus into Acadia, or drive to the beaches a bit further away. Shaun was very friendly and accommodating.
This is the third time we have stayed here, and we love it more every time. We can’t say enough about Shaun and Carrie’s hospitality and communication, and the home is just perfect for our family of 5. Thank you again for the best week!!
We enjoyed our first time in Bar Harbor and Acadia. The house was a well-located, clean, and comfortable home base for adventures. The hosts were easy to work with. We left Bar Harbor looking forward to the next time we can visit.
Family memories of Acadia go back to camping there in late 1950's and many times since so this was a great location to revisit those days. We were very comfortable in this home and especially appreciated the cleanliness as well as the little extras supplied like dishwasher detergent, paper products, laundry detergent. Host responded quickly to questions and requests. The location in Bar Harbor and next to Acadia couldn't have been better.
Loved our stay at this lovely house in Bar Harbor! It was very clean & very cozy. The location was ideal for exploring Acadia National Park. Shaun was very responsive to our messages and the blueberry pie waiting for us was delicious!!
My family of four (two in 70s and two in 40s) had a wonderful time. The location was most convenient with a short walk to Bar Harbor downtown and quick drive to the park. It only took 12 min to drive to Cadillac Mountain road entrance! The house was clean and very comfortable to stay in. Would definitely recommend it for families.
The home was charming. Great location to both town and Acadia. We loved the front porch. It was very clean. The owners were wonderful! We were greeted with a fresh and delicious blueberry pie upon arrival.

About the host

One of us writes books for children and young adults. The other one has spent most of his adult life protecting and serving the people of Bar Harbor.
This house on Ledgelawn is where we spent a lot of happy time, celebrating the awesomeness that is Bar Harbor.
Why they chose this property
We bought this property because we love Bar Harbor and its quirky, outdoorsy appeal. Ledgelawn Avenue has always been a place for families. Even though Bar Harbor is so small, thousands of trick-or-treaters come to our door. On the Fourth of July, the parade stages at the ballfield and finishes on this street. This is small town America at its best. Right here.
And then there's the park. You can run out the door, turn left and in less than five minutes, you are in one of the most beautiful places in the country.
It's hard to beat that.
What makes this property unique
We love the front porch, the neighbors. We love the way the lilacs smell in Spring and the way the cook-outs smell in the summer. The back yard with its deck and trees just beyond the fence, make you feel secluded even though it's just a short jaunt into town.
There are lots of tiny quirks in the house like an occasional old-fashioned light fixture, double ovens, and an overall light and airy feel.
