Not luxurious but very comfortable. Definitely pet-friendly. Nice front porch, no water view but easy beach access. Fellow guests were very friendly and helpful. Conveniently located to most island attractions.

This Cottage Needs an Upgrade
My wife an I rented this cottage in June for an anniversary. The best quality of this cottage is the location to the beach. Very nice location. Everything else about tis unit was adequate or below. Most of the beach chairs available need to be thrown away, and I would suggest they be replace every two years (since they are so cheap to purchase). Ditto with the umbrella. The kitchen was really bad and just plain "crummy" looking. It all just seemed old, outdated and unappealing. The bed was comfortable, but the headboard to the bed was oversized and looked cheesy. The "tube" TV (yes, an actual tube TV) in the bedroom should be replaced with a flat screen or thrown away. Some of the blinds throughout need to be replaced and do not work properly. Cheap wicker chairs in the living area are not worth keeping either. The tub squeaks incessantly when showering. I assume it isn't supported underneath the bottom of the tub.
We will try another unit at White Caps in the future, but not #1.

Thank you for your review, we appreciate the feedback. White Caps 1 has continued to be updated on a regular basis. Flat screen TV's have been in the living room and bedroom since late 2015. A new mattress, box spring and bedding was added in 2016. New living room chairs were added in January 2016. Beach chairs are replaced several times each year as the proximity to the gulf/salt air leads to rust and corrosion. Interior painting has added additional color to the cottage. We hope these continual updates provide a great experience for our guests !
Property was clean and comfy. Management made the check-in process straightforward and remained in contact with us during the week. Cottage is a short walk to the beach and a short drive to restaurants and grocery store. Ready access to bike paths and Ding Darling Nature Preserve. Relaxing stay!
Great place for my husband and I to spend the week. Nothing fancy, but clean and had everything we needed. Loved the views of the ocean and how close it was to the beach. Rented bikes and rode the bike path every morning. Will definitely come back!
Overall we were pleased. However, the property needs some care. We didn't have a clock in the bedroom and one of the lamps in the bedroom was missing. The management responded quickly but this could have been avoided. Also our hot water heater went out. We were able to have a new one replaced within 24 hours but the repairman said the old one was really old and probably should have been replaced much sooner. The sofa in the living room was outdated and could stand to be replaced. These are fixable things. We loved the location and beach access. Management was responsive.
We loved the location of this cottage! It felt like we lived on the beach. We loved the screened in porch! It was wonderful to have some shade in the evening. The furnishings are dated and the couch is not too comfy. The bed was very comfortable! Loved having breakfast and looking out at the ocean every morning!
We had a wonderful time here at at White Caps - we wanted a good location , at a fair price and we believe I got both!! Will probably stay again next year but one week was just not enough.
It’s hard to separate our joy from the island from the exact place we stayed; it was all so perfect. Listing was as described with the exception of laundry. I don’t remember it specifying that the laundry was coin operated in a separate, on property building: it is. Even our leaving instructions indicated to start the sheets washing. A phone call straightened that out, but I had packed some items with intentions to wash and altered that. (I didn’t care to babysit wash).
Really nice to be able to view the beach inside. We didn’t eat on the porch, but could still enjoy the water from the kitchen table. Property is pup friendly, and several cottage residents had theirs accompanying them; that was lovely too! ‘‘Twas nice to have a communal feel to the stay versus the anonymity of large properties.
Kitchen was stocked well enough for basic cooking. Beach chairs, umbrella, buckets, basic sand toys were provided. Even beach towels! Books were nice addition as well.
The shelling was amazing on the beach directly in front of property. 90* days meant water was perfect for swimming. We collected dozens of Florida fighting conchs and others in lesser quantities. Sand dollars were aplenty too one day. Our time of year was perfection for avoiding crowds and still enjoying great birding at Ding Darling. As an amateur photographer, I managed several amazing pics of local wildlife. Fighting ibis, osprey with fish, and the beach pics with shell mounds were envied by many a FB friend. Pretty sure we strummed up interest in Sanibel, and will happily recommend White Caps to them.

Thank you for your review! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again soon!
This property is in a quiet neighborhood, the units are very private and not a lot of people around, which I loved it. The unit where my wife and I stayed (unit 1) was very clean and spacious for the two of us and our dogs. The bathroom is large enough, modern and updated. The kitchen can use some updating, but it has all the basics to cook a decent meal, then again you are not there to spend your time cooking, so for us was not a big deal. The bedroom was nice and clean and the bed was comfortable. This unit is near the beach, you can see it from your window, and is just a short walk to it. The beach is dog friendly, you only have to follow a few basic rules, it was clean with a lots of shells and not very crowded, loved it. The company who manage this place (Kingfisher) e-mailed us all the need it information to check in and to check out, and there was a phone number that we could call 24 hours if we had issues, which we had not. They were helpful but not intrusive. Overall, we are very pleased with this place, it is exactly as described and pictured at the website. I definitely recommend it and will come back to it.

Cute cottage in quiet area
Place was nice! Just what we needed for a getaway for two.
Please replace beach chairs annually, all were falling apart. Access to a washer and dryer would have been nice with all the sand. Future renters: go to Publix before the island.... the groceries on Sanibel are outrageously priced.
Overall nice spot, quiet beach, lots of shells, walking distance house to beach was just right.

Location! Location!
We loved being so close to the beach in our little cottage. It was comfortable and cozy and we could see the water from inside. However just a small investment in such things as new window shades etc would give a big impression of being better cared for and a more pleasing interior.

Adorable Cottage but beware of bed!
We stayed for two weeks. This is the third time staying at White Cap Cottages, first time in Cottage #1. We love how close you are to the beach and the cottage is perfect for two people. We brought our two small dogs and they loved the beach! The only downfall is the queen size bed. The mattress needs to be replaced. The silverware had rust on it but after emailing the vacation rental office they prompted responded that they will buy new silverware. All in all it was a great vacation!

Excellent location.
We had a wonderful time here. Right by the beach. Very close to bike baths and many activities. This was the place for us to relax away from our busy lives. Will be back next year. Thanks all!

This cozy, florida/beach themed, private property directly faces the gulf from the living room and enclosed screened porch which is a really, really nice feature as compared to other properties who don't have the direct gulf view unless you step outside of the cottage. The enclosed screened porch has chairs and a table to enjoy the view. There is no outside shower to wash off of the sand prior to stepping inside the cottage, so have your water buckets ready to wash off outside before your step inside the cottage of they will be sand everywhere. A big plus as that cottage has direct, private beach access and the beach is kept really clean.
