Comfy but dusty

Cozy, adequately furnished, but dust and allergans were brought out by the dust in the airconditioner vents and the dust/ in the bathroom vent fan. So we all had allergies brought out and could not turn on a/c' s after the 1st night. If cleaning crew would just vacuum out the a/c vents and bath room vent it would have been perfect!

Cute little cottage

We spent a long weekend here. The house was small but served it’s purpose for our weekend getaway. The owner was very responsive to my many questions before our trip. We would stay here again for a Narraganset/Newport weekend.

Practically Perfect Pied-à-terre to explore this beautiful part of Rhode Island

This property is a nicely kept, rustic cottage on a private road with beach access (swimming and some watercraft) on the beautiful Narrow River. If you are looking for peace and quiet, I recommend this place wholeheartedly. It is in a perfect location to explore the area, being close to Newport, Narragansett (incl. Point Judith, where there is ferry access to Block Island) and Matunuck, among many other interesting stops along Route 1A. The area is full of nature conservancy efforts, land-trusts, farms, and state parks, making it a wonderful place to explore nature’s gifts. I thought the cottage was well-priced for its size and the high season/late booking. It is cozy, but comfortable. One of the two full bedrooms is much smaller than the other so I would not necessarily rent this property for 2 adult couples for an extended stay. The bathroom is quite tiny/not really shareable unless one person is in the shower. The kitchen is also compact and does not lend itself to preparing large sit-down meals, but there are so many great options for eating out or ordering in within a 15-20 minute drive (and I am a foodie snob). There is a large, well-maintained backyard that includes a wooden deck with a 4 seat dining table and a paved area with a chimena, as well as a fire pit. I thoroughly enjoyed building a fire on my last night there. Maria was a great host, we never met personally as I had a lot of challenges with regard to my planned arrival time but she was flexible and made sure that I could get in to the property when I did finally arrive on my check-in date. She was attentive to messages and was very receptive to feedback. I advised her that the cottage had been less than clean (bathroom, clean! dusting and floors not so much) when I arrived and she was happy for the information to discuss with her cleaner. Maria is also a talented artist and her artwork adorns many of the walls of the cottage. With regard to the host’s specs and earlier reviews: My personal walking pace (49 year old in reasonably good shape) to reach the local beach was about 10-15 minutes downhill and it is all downhill/uphill so those challenged by a somewhat steep walk (or bike ride) back from the beach may want to drive – there does appear to be some parking. I am happy to report that the previously reviewed bedroom damp smell is gone and the host has installed a dehumidifier as well as an air-cleaner/sanitizer. I would definitely recommend this property, or rent it again.

Just what we needed

My two friends and I had a great stay here over Labor Day weekend. The house was clean and had everything we needed. It was a great location to get to the beach, local restaurants, and even a trip to Newport. Maria was very responsive and helpful. We echo her recommendation of Brickley’s ice cream!

Beach

Everything was as explained. Check in was flawless. You only got 2 passes to the Narragansett resident beach. There were four of us and we had trouble getting in as they told us only two of us would be able to get in. After discussions, they just let us go through. Only thing was the back bedroom was extremely small and it had a musty odor to it. Nothing really to be done it's a summer cottage, but it did make all of my clothes and things smell upon departure. The bathroom shower is only a standup and the bathroom is extremely narrow. Not the best choice for our 6ft plus and muscle wide companions. But, our time was lovely. Thank you! Back yard was great. Fire pit was perfect.

Wonderful Location

A very quiet neighborhood to relax in the back yard. Close to all Narragansett beaches and activities. Small cottage but enough room for my granddaughter and me. There is a slight smell in one bedroom and the TV only gets Netflix. Maria was very attentive to my calls. We did enjoy our stay!

Great spot about 10 min drive from town beach

We had a great time at the cottage. The tv is a little wonky but ultimately works and there is a slight slight smell I. The bathroom maybe from the plumbing but overall a delight

Great little cottage!

I was pleasantly surprised by this small cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. It's in a neighborhood but feels quite private. We had no complaints at all, It is clean and comfortable and has everything you need for cooking meals or there are also nearby restaurants that deliver (I used hungrybutton.com) The backyard has comfy furniture for relaxing after a day of beaching or kayaking, etc. We kayaked the nearby Narrow River, which has rentals if needed. While not right on the water, it's a short drive to many beaches (Narragansett, Scarborough North and South, etc.) It's not far from Jamestown or Wickford either (two old favorites of mine). The cottage, location and Maria's attentiveness are all terrific. Thank you Maria!

Nice

It was our first time in RI, we wanted to visit Block Island and the emplacement of the cottage was perfect for us, near the ferry and Newport to visit. We loved the patio and the neighborhood was very quiet. The inside was comfortable and well decorated. We wouldn't hesitage to go back again. Thank you, Denise

Vacation rental

Property is ok, but not very well maintained outside and inside. Lights and tv not working, cupboards hanging off hinges. Front door sticks. Smelled like mold a little also. Bugs in house. Location and quietness was great. Owner was quick to reply to our requests.

The house was very cute and quaint, perfect for quick getaway.

This home was perfect for our quick girls getaway to the beach! It was located just a short drive from point Judith road and the main state beaches of Narragansett. The house was clean and decorated well. I would stay here again!

Terrible, Unmaintained and Unresponsive

First off we were given little information about the house; how to get in, the trash pickup schedule, the internet password, and community beach access were all things we had to ask about or figure out on our own. The yard was overgrown and no where near the cute oasis that is pictured in the add. Upon entering we began noticing the unmainted state of the house. From the screen door not closing and the handle falling off to ants in the kitchen to the floor laminate peeling up. The dead bolt lock on the both doors did not function. We were just told not to use them. The furniture was unstable. A leg to the couch was not attached and the couch fell to the floor when sat upon. The kitchen table was missing leg pegs and tipped when used. We notified Maria (the property owner) in the first couple days. She said she had been away and was unaware of the condition. No corrective action were taken for the first 5 weeks of our 7 week stay. The furniture was then replaced. No repairs were ever made to the house. The owner stopped by the house 3 times to look at the disrepair and to show the house to potential renters; she was 45 minutes late each time with no notification. I would find a new location to vacation if this is the only place left to rent.

Adorable cottage hidden in hydrangeas!

Our wedding weekend was perfectly suited for this home. An abundance of greenery and flowers greeted us at the entrance. Much time was spent and enjoyed on the deck and back yard. It was suitable for a large gathering of friends and family. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely return again.

Cute and Secluded

I really loved staying at this home with my sisters. The first night we sat on the back couches and listened to music, the house is surrounded by trees and beautiful flowers. The entryway was my favorite part. The decorations were very beachy and the house was cute for us girls. Maria left a sweet note when we got there and I loved my stay! It wasn't too far from shops or store either and the beach was close!
