Great location. Family friendly neighborhood. Will definitely stay here again. If you have kids though, or if you are an adult that likes falling asleep to TV, bring a laptop or tablet as there are only 2 TVs in this rental. The rooster out the back yard doesn’t allow sleeping late either. Other than that, it was awesome!
The house was so nice. Lots of room and clean! The neighbors were very nice and gave us lits of recommendations. The neighborhood had everything we needed. Would highly recommend!!
The property is a lovely home. Restored beautifully. Excellent gathering spaces in the kitchen and living area. Safe, historic, family friendly area. We loved our stay.
We traveled to NOLA, Algiers, for my daughters wedding at Compass Point. I found the listing on VRBO and immediately liked the home. I was not disappointed. The home was old with squeaky original wood floors and the large original windows rattled a bit during storms but that is the charm of a 1929 home. The antiques are lovely, the kitchen was well appointed, and it has 3 bathrooms. The home is within walking distance to several restaurants and pubs as well as the ferry which drops you off right down town near Bourbon street. A 3.00 "Le Pass" pays for the Ferry, Trolley, and the bus line in NOLA for 24 hours. What a bargain. We met the Host, Bruce, and he is delightful. We will not hesitate to rebook this property.
Our party of 4 adults stayed here for 3 nights. It was even nicer than the photos online. Beautiful antiques and roomy updated kitchen. And very close to an amazing Mexican walk-up restaurant and only a few blocks from the ferry (to the French Quarters). Owner was very responsive and personable. Highly recommend!
This property is in a great location with easy access to the ferry and some neighborhood restaurants. Once inside it is more spacious than the pictures make it look. There are nice antique furnishings and everything was clean when we got there. The layout of the house and the associated furniture make it best for just four adults. Probably not many people coming to New Orleans are going to be cooking much food with all the great restaurants, but you should note that even for preparing a few breakfast meals during our stay we found the cookware to be pretty beat up and minimal.
The house had great old style charm in the heart of New Orleans. Neighborhood was safe. Comfy beds, plenty of towels although some shed. Bruce was very responsive and patient despite my being a first time Vrbo user. Would stay here again!
Was nice place very clean ,spacious, full kitchen , bathtubs are huge bathrooms and kitchen is fully updated . The rest takes you back in time . Easy access to get in . Does have a old picture of the lady we all thought was cool . Really no complaints at all. Was askedto start the sheets but it was ok to start washing them .overall very pleased
they have brochure on the buffet to.look at for adventures. Wasaksed to startstar
Bruce communicated very well throughout the whole experience. It was just enough. We were close to 4 different restaurants, close to the ferry, and there was a general store around the corner. Very ideal location. It was even a little park for the kids at the end of the block. The place was equipped with all the odds and ends. Very accommodating. It was a blessing finding this gem. 10 outta 10 would definitely recommend.
This house was a perfect place to stay during our trip to New Orleans. The house was clean and spacious. There were plenty of shops and restaurants nearby in walking distance. The host was responsive and even let us doing a last minute early check in.
We had a wonderful visit in this beautiful home. It was easily accessible in and out and with the ferry just a few blocks away, we were able to visit the French Quarters and not have to worry with parking. We felt safe our entire stay and no unseen issues happened. The house, kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms were clean. We will stay with them again on our next visit to New Orleans!
It was a good stay and a good location, however if you want to go downtown often, this place is remote and five minutes from the ferry which is 5-10 minutes from downtown.(ferry is every half hour)
As for beds, they were comfortable, but the pillows needed work, much too flat for my taste.
We didn’t spend much time at the property, usually just a place to sleep.
There were some places nearby for food, a pizza place, a bar/grill (dry dock), a bar that sometimes has food (crown and anchor), a French bar/grill (forget name), a breakfast/lunch place (toute du suite) all within 5 mins walk.)
The wifi was good as well.
Bruce was a very kind and attentive host. Communication was flawless and quick. The property was very beautiful and clean. Bruce addressed any issues in a timely manner. 10/10 would recommend staying at this property if you are in the area!
This place is too far from all the attractions. It was inconvenient at night, you either rent a car or catch an uber/cab for the night life. The property owner was very friendly, and he accommodated us allowing us to check in early and stay late the day we left. Thank you so much Bruce.
The house is beautiful, relaxing and quiet. If you like to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner it is within walking distance. The owner of the house goes above and beyond to help and a very sweet guy. I loved the house and the home owner. I couldn't have ask for a better place to stay. Thank you vrbo for having such a great place to stay and a pleasant owner.
We were there for a Moose Convention. We called Bruce on the phone to speak with him about the reservation. He was accurate, accommodating and very Knowledgeable about the area. The house was immaculate. Directions were great. We love the Victorian decor. The nicest part, was that everything worked...The fans, the AC, TV directions were laid out in plain view. We will definitely get back in touch with him when we come back again. You couldn't ask for a better host.

Bruce is easy and friendly to deal with. The house is clean, spacious and in a great neighborhood with lots to offer (food, coffee shop, location, local bar). I do wish the beds were a bit larger, but that's a small complaint amongst all the positives of staying here.

About the host
Hosted by Bruce Blew
Hello! My name is Bruce. Welcome to New Orleans. I am a retired Chemical Engineer, who presently owns & operates The Junque Shop Antique Store in the Faugborg Marigny, at the base of world famous Frenchmen Street. I personally renovated my home in 2005-2006.
Why they chose this property
This is a Raised 'Shotgun' Double built in 1929, completely renovated in 2005-2006. It is located in historic Algiers Point, the second oldest settlement in New Orleans. It was built by a lumber yard owner. The walls are 6 inches thick & reinforced diagonally. The 2006 renovation opened the home to one living area upstairs.
What makes this property unique
My home is an economical alternative to the French Quarter, and yet is just a four block walk or drive to the Algiers/Canal Street Car/Passenger Ferry. Historic Algiers Point is a quiet alternative to the fast French Quarter pace, and yet close enough to enjoy the full benefits of the French Quarter and all of New Orleans.
