Excellent area

It was a great location. You can park your car and use the passenger ferry to other side to Bourbon street and other activities. Local eateries just around corner and down the street.

The house had great old style charm in the heart of New Orleans. Neighborhood was safe. Comfy beds, plenty of towels although some shed. Bruce was very responsive and patient despite my being a first time Vrbo user. Would stay here again!

Wonderful Stay

This house was a perfect place to stay during our trip to New Orleans. The house was clean and spacious. There were plenty of shops and restaurants nearby in walking distance. The host was responsive and even let us doing a last minute early check in.

Happy Visit

Great location. Family friendly neighborhood. Will definitely stay here again. If you have kids though, or if you are an adult that likes falling asleep to TV, bring a laptop or tablet as there are only 2 TVs in this rental. The rooster out the back yard doesn’t allow sleeping late either. Other than that, it was awesome!

Wonderful stay

This property was perfect for our trip. We got in got groceries and were able to have a nice dinner at the house the first night. The farry was super convenient. So easy to get in to town and the house was great to come home to.

Great house

Ferry ride away to the hustle and bustle of New Orleans. Walk to the ferry is a quick one. Public transportation on other side of river is easy to navigate. The house has history and charm as does the neighborhood. Would stay again.

First time in New Orleans

A charming house in a lovely neighborhood. The ferry is only a short walk, making it easy to get to the French Quarter. We also had a great time exploring Algiers Point, the tacos from across the street were amazing. The only downside was that the kitchen was missing some basics, such as a cutting board and Tupperware for leftovers.

Outstanding and convenient stay

Absolutely loved our (first time!) visit to New Orleans, and this property was a huge part of that. Easy walk to the ferry terminal to cross the river into NO proper and so much easier than having to figure out where to park over there or paying an exorbitant amount per day to park for a hotel in the main city. The vintage look/feel of this property also is a plus and my wife and I very much enjoyed it all. Would absolutely stay here again without hesitation and recommend it to anyone considering a NOLA visit!

Algiers Neighborhood is wonderful

Beautifully renovated home in a nice area. Felt completely safe. Very quiet area, nice neighborhood eateries, park, and walking distance to ferry ($8.00 for 3 days also covers trolley and bus). When we decided to stay in NOLA late (2am) we just hired an Uber $16, but we did go early 1 day and found parking along street. On Sun parking is free and Sat after 6pm it is free. Back to the home/owner: great communication with Bruce. Will definitely rent here again.

Convention

We were there for a Moose Convention. We called Bruce on the phone to speak with him about the reservation. He was accurate, accommodating and very Knowledgeable about the area. The house was immaculate. Directions were great. We love the Victorian decor. The nicest part, was that everything worked...The fans, the AC, TV directions were laid out in plain view. We will definitely get back in touch with him when we come back again. You couldn't ask for a better host. Sonja Gamble

Great home in a great location

After visiting New Orleans about six or seven times and staying in the French Quarter with no car, my wife and I decided to stay across the river in Algiers, rent a car, and explore the area more widely. This place was perfect for that. Not only did it have a (tiny) driveway for off street parking but it was easy to get in and out of the neighborhood for day trips. The Canal Street Ferry terminal is a few blocks away...easy walk. There is a nice coffee shop around the corner. We had friends and family come visit for a few days at a time and they all loved it. We would have given it five stars but the landlord tends to be kind of unmotivated about taking care of some maintenance items...like replacing the front porch light for safety. But these are small items and we enjoyed our stay very much.

Hello! My name is Bruce. Welcome to New Orleans. I am a retired Chemical Engineer, who presently owns & operates The Junque Shop Antique Store in the Faugborg Marigny, at the base of world famous Frenchmen Street. I personally renovated my home in 2005-2006.

Why they chose this property

This is a Raised 'Shotgun' Double built in 1929, completely renovated in 2005-2006. It is located in historic Algiers Point, the second oldest settlement in New Orleans. It was built by a lumber yard owner. The walls are 6 inches thick & reinforced diagonally. The 2006 renovation opened the home to one living area upstairs.

What makes this property unique

My home is an economical alternative to the French Quarter, and yet is just a four block walk or drive to the Algiers/Canal Street Car/Passenger Ferry. Historic Algiers Point is a quiet alternative to the fast French Quarter pace, and yet close enough to enjoy the full benefits of the French Quarter and all of New Orleans.
